“I never drink Starbucks. I prefer less corporate cafes. But I received a gift card. Coffee was of middling quality as expected. But the staff here were so friendly and efficient, they get 8 out of 5 stars, which makes up for the 2-star coffee. If I had a business, I would be poaching this staff big time.“

“I tried the house made honeycomb bread with a Jubani and the balance between the two was perfect. The Jubani has a lighter taste that feels closer to tea with the multiple layers of spice flavors. The honeycomb bread is a must try, and pulls apart into bite-sized pieces, which makes eating it while sipping very pleasant. Looking forward to staying to enjoy a tea or coffee pot with friends soon!
Dietary restrictions: I saw several vegan options in the food case. Lookin forward to tasting more since they are in our neighborhood.“

“Visiting from NJ and decided to walk from my hotel for coffee vs. hotel's coffee. Was greeted warmly by the young lady behind the counter. The music and decor is lovely. I had the rosemilk cake, the Heyma latte, and the Yemeni tea. I didn't want to leave! Also, as a Muslim, it was nice to see representation in the art. Wonderful!“

“Very cute cafe with pastries and a hot/cold drink menu. I really enjoyed the genoise and London fog, great on a cold rainy day. The Christmas tree was up and twinkly lights about really made it a perfect cozy cafe to hide in.
Wheelchair accessibility: On the first level, very accessible with wide berth around the counter.“

“I usually swing in for a drip coffee, always greeted with a smile by the staff, and the overall atmosphere is chill and welcoming.
When the weekend comes, they always request Jaffa coffee, for a juice and pastry.
Really great spot to visit when in Berkeley.
Kid-friendliness: It’s a very chill vibe, and welcoming.“

“This might just be my absolute favorite middle eastern bakery/ coffee shop. They are so friendly, nice, and welcoming; I didn’t want to leave the place!!
Their honey bite is so darn good! I’m coming right back to buy another one!“
“I came by while waiting to pick someone up and got a latte.
It was delicious, probably my favorite latte I’ve had in the Bay Area (I got the date one).
I enjoyed it in their living room like space while flipping through some books that they have in their shelf.
Def looking forward to trying their other lattes!
The service I received was excellent. The art was beautiful, including the one in the bathroom. There’s even a bidet!
Looks like there are regulars and that laptop work and camping for hours is welcomed.“

“Excellent coffee and exceptional house made baked goods! Everyone who works there is super friendly and they love dogs, which is important for our family, especially when we're en route to daycare or the park with the pup and kiddo. My only wish is that they had a space with a nice seating area so I could soak up the good vibes for longer.“

“We’ve got two pour over - Ethiopia and Rwanda. Both had a slightly acidic taste and delicious! The pastry, cinnamon bun, was so good. Soft and not overly sweet. Very tasty. It felt like European-style bread. Despite only two seats available, we still enjoyed our coffee on site. Staff was very friendly.“

“We were in town because of the death of a friend. The staff here was so incredibly nice to us! They went above and beyond. We got breakfast and coffee here every day we were in town. It really felt like home. They remembered our names and our orders. We really felt like a part of the community. Big thanks especially to Eagle for taking care of us!“

“Adam and Queena were invaluable partners in planning my daughter's bat mitzvah! They were very friendly and flexible with our ever-changing budget and introduced us to some great vendors we would have never engaged on our own. They also suggested changes to the layout of the event so that it had a great flow. Beyond all of the preparation, Adam's help with the day-of supervision of the set up and coordination of all with all of the vendors ensured the event went off without a hitch. It was beautiful and exactly how we envisioned it! Thanks Sway!!“

“A little gem in Hercules, tucked in a little cozy corner in the neighborhood. It is within walking distance of the water. It is very cozy so seating can be limited when busy. They serve coffee, a little breakfast and sandwiches. We had some chicken empanadas, but they also have other flavors. We also had some corn tamales, which is sweet masa. A great place to stop on your walk or meet a friend. It's really cute.
Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcomed and they serve fruit smoothies.“

“This place rocks! It is gorgeous, and the owners are really nice people that also actually work there as well. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the place. The coffee is THE BEST, the food is amazing. They also have craft beers and wine. It is such a cool little place (it's actually a lot bigger than it looks from the street!) And I can't wait to go back! I had beef cheek lasagna that was made from scratch and it was DIVINE. I also had deviled eggs, caesar salad, and tomato bisque, all of which is house-made from scratch. I believe it was from the happy hour menu, though because it was open mic night, so I'm not too sure how often those items are available. Also, don't judge me..everything sounded so good so I ordered it all. No, I didn't eat it all in one sitting. If I didn't run out of room in my gut I would have, though. It was so good!! All in all, 10/10 would recommend to any and everybody.
Parking: It's downtown, so parking can be sort of a nightmare, but it's worth it!
Kid-friendliness: They host open mic nights among other events and they have in-house daycare for the events. The place is extremely family friendly. They have a "kids corner" open every day, where kids can hang out and read books or play with toys while their parents enjoy their coffee or meals.“

“This place is pure magic. I’ve been coming to Alem’s for a few years and finally tried branched out from the Ful to try the Fata. Needless to say it was incredibly and I should have branched out sooner! I don’t understand how food can taste so good. The folks behind the counter are the best and always earnestly want to know if you liked it. Come here after the farmers market on Sunday! You won’t regret it!“

“If you’re looking for 3rd place type cafe, this is it!
It’s in a busy, but calm neighborhood with the most charismatic woman owner. I watched her hang out with neighborhood customers for ages.
The light roast, drip coffee is perfectly made (a little acidic, cherry notes).
Please come give this lady your business, you’ll be happy you did.
P.s. they serve cafe staples proper espresso drinks, pastries, good coffee and I think I see a basque cheesecake in the display!?“

“The beef empanada was amazing! First time at Buenos Aires cafe so I ordered a variety of empanadas and all were perfect. Thought they would be larger in person but they’re about 5 inches long on a good day so I was glad I ordered 5 empanadas to be full for the rest of my day. Definitely gonna come back to try the other flavors.“

“My new fave: Cute little space with a couple tables inside and out front, very sweet team behind the counter (brother & sister?). For the price of an avocado toast elsewhere, I got an avo toast AND an açaí bowl. The toast was topped with a flavor bomb of cherry tomatoes, arugula and chili flakes. And the açaí bowl was fresh bananas, strawberries, blueberries and crunchy granola atop - get this - passion fruit, my absolute favorite flavor in the whole wide world!“

“Got the vegetarian combo plate and a sambusa. The azifa that comes with the vegetarian combo platter is out of this world. It’s light, refreshing and has the tangy flavor to cut the heat of the other items on the platter. Teff injera was delicious. Sambusa has the crispy flaky exterior and the lentils inside are perfectly cooked and seasoned.
I love the mom and pop, modern feel of this cozy neighborhood joint - smiles all around and you can taste the love and passion in the food.“

“There were three in my party. We ducked in here to take a break from the cold rain. We ordered a chai, a golden/turmeric chai, and a caffé latté, all with oat milk. It’s our first try of oat milk. We all liked it a lot. The foam on my golden chai was lovely. I’d reorder it anytime. I tried my mate’s latté with oat milk, I can recommend it. The pastries we ordered were all worth the consumption. I’m so glad there was one pretzel cheese bun left. It was delicious even though it wasn’t warm. I highly recommend them. We also ordered a quiche, a chocolate croissant, and an almond pastry. They were all superb. The almond pastry which was super light and flaky tasted like baklava more so than an almond filling. I liked the vibe here. So often I want to grab my order and split, not here. I felt fine taking refuge from the outside environs. The staff were sweet regardless of their spoken English being nearly impossible to understand. It was cool assuming they were part of the refugee program. It felt good being a patron there and the inspired conversation it led to. I am sure my party was surprised I was already knowledgeable about the topic on current refugees. That made our café and conversation time only that much more enjoyable.“

“Everything is reasonably priced and their bakery goods are made on site just like Grandma used to make these things are as big as your fist if not bigger the cookies can be shared among the entire family and the banana bread and all the other specialties are fantastic. I go here with my son because they have a kids hot chocolate that is safely made just for him. Not too hot so he won't get burned. I really like this place because the people that work there genuinely seemed to be not only morning people but they want to be there and they actually acknowledge us and speak to us with kindness. You're definitely not getting that at other coffee shops“
“Loved my visit to Boats & Beans! Such a nice addition to that neighborhood! I had a really nice oat milk matcha latte that wasn’t too bitter or sweet and a giant flaky croissant. Really pretty outdoor area surrounded by flower boxes. The whole place felt happy and is worth a stop off the 880! Plenty of street parking. 5 stars!“

“Met up with a former colleague for lunch this afternoon. Cafe Teatro is a fairly simple straight forward operation. Coffee drinks, Italian sodas, sandwiches, assorted muffins and pastries.I got the pesto chicken sandwich on sourdough. It was fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced.Restrooms are on the second floor by the library entrance. There's a brightly colored patio area with umbrellas and artwork. This is a great place to meet up with friends, or just hangout and enjoy a snack and a book.“
