“I don't drink much coffee these days. Mostly matcha. They source from Asha. Their coffee is very good, and with the gloomy weather, I've opted for it more often than not. They collaborate with local chefs for specials. The raspberry white chocolate mocha was my favorite limited edition drink.“
“Donuts are definitely the best in town! Cute lil dog friendly place in the Laurel/Allendale district. There was an employee who gushed over my frenchie while we were there. Always friendly service. If you haven't had a cronut you will not regret the decision. My favorite is the salted caramel! This delicious box plus a latte for around $30 including a generous tip. I just love this place!“
“Really loved their interiors. Felt like I was in Yemen. They serve chai is very fancy cups which makes it even more pleasing. Highly recommend trying their Adeni Chai with the Sabaya and the Honeycomb Bread. The Vegan Lime Mango cake was great. Also recommend their “
“I've only been there hella early in the a.m.; it's been tight every time. I bought some of their grounds, hella good. Their donuts smack. There's a skeleton that waves at you above the entrance, he's my homie. Ha.Parking: Street parking and residential parking near. Again, I've only been at the top of the morn so there's parking when I've visited.Kid-friendliness: He?? yeah.Wheelchair accessibility: Ngl I'll update this portion but if I remember correctly there's a ramp to the left of the building that can be used.“
“I am going to be generous and give it a five, the coffee I do like quite a lot here. There's a place not too far across the way for coffee as well but this place has it going in terms of atmosphere for sure. I very much enjoy the fact there's live DJs or music in general, while still a laid back and nice place to get from and go. I go every time I have morning shifts and it hasn't let me down since I started visiting. While I haven't explored it myself, I'm aware this also does wines in the evening.“
“MAN, OMG! This is our NEW order-from/hangout place. NOT ONLY is the owner VERY FRIENDLY, KIND & HELPFUL but the FOOD is EXCELLENT (KUDOS to the Kitchen Chef whom customers often NEGLECT/FORGET about congratulating/commending in PERSON!). VERY VERY EXCELLENT (TOP NOTCH!) tuna sandwich! This place KNOWS what they're doing!!! And, NOT too many places know HOW to make a GREAT-TASTING tuna salad! Many either put TOO much mayonnaise or make it TOO dry. Places also tend sometimes to use brand/suppliers of tuna which tastes TOO FISHY!!! However, NOT SO AT ALL here, at Jebena Cafe! Their (female) cook makes a REAL "BOMB" (THE Bomb!) of a tuna sandwiches we've tasted in a LONG time (&, TRUST us! We've tasted tuna sandwiches in MANY-a-PLACES before!). This place makes one of the BEST ! NOT too salty; NOT too creamy; BOT too dry! JUST well-balanced good-fish taste with very FRESH & CRUNCHY lettuce & JUST RIGHT, well-toasted slices of bread!!! This sandwich ALWAYS gets even a HIGHER-MARKUP/"upgrade" when you ADD their SLICED HARD-BOILED egg to it!!! Their avocado toast is ALSO WONDERFUL-highly recommended (we always order BOTH the TUNA but ALSO, the AVOCADO toast & combine them, eating one half of each then, are left with the 2 other halves to go/for later (except that one must remember that avocado tends to darken if/when not eaten fresh)!!! Finally, their MOCHA & LATTE are great!!!“
“I'm not normally a tea drinker but I had the Hojicha latte and I have become addicted. It's amazing! They also have nice pastries with a French influence as well as a number of fancy teas for sale. My daughter said the strawberry milk with boba is delicious.Central location on Piedmont avenue with Wi-Fi and power if you need to do a little work on your laptop.Highly recommend.“
“I absolutely adore Arzimendi! I've been to this location and the Valencia st location in SF and everytime I go, I am reminded of how much I love it. The baked goods are delicious and affordable. The pizza is divine and it's so fun to see what new slice comes out each day. Arizmendi is also a co-op so I'm happy to support them with my service as much as possible!“

“I was killing time in the neighborhood, so decided to try Jerusalem coffee. I ordered a orange blossom latte. I really like it. I had to go with whole milk, but the flavor was very good. Could definitely taste the orange blossom. Unfortunately, they don't have decaf so I had to take a chance. he did offer me a single shot, I like my coffee strong. The service was good. The ambience is casual.“
“The polenta and blueberry muffins are out of this world. That being said, one day they made polenta and raspberry muffins. I don't know if it was a fluke or not, but I actually like those better. Either way, you have to try them!! Every Friday my coworkers and I treat ourselves. The best ever!!“
“This wonderful place is my other office. It's cute and cozy, has strong wifi, the staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious. It's not cheap, but they use lots of fresh, healthy ingredients and it's beautifully presented. I've recently had the winter lentil salad, the French grilled cheese, and the tomato bisque. Yum.“
“Found this brand new little gem Cafe Cordoba in Oakland today. I'm a lifelong restaurant owner which makes it hard to please me. This place is amazing. Family owned and operated. I had the big tacos with carne asada. They were absolutely sell. I'll be back time and time again. We need more small business owners like this one. Bravo!“
“A charming spot in downtown Oakland, where great service meets quality coffee. The owner’s dedication to improvement, seeking customers feedback, and surprising us with special treats, be it coffee or pastries, adds a delightful touch to the experience.“
“Cute lil place I met up with friend for a lil brunch and chit chat. Very small inside however, outside has a lovely covered area for big groups and just a few people. Avocados on my toast were picked perfectly!Vegetarian options: I saw a few optionsParking: Their lot is small however, just around the corner is a neighborhood with street parking.“
“Romo Cafe is a bright shiny star in our Fairfax neighborhood. Mexican coffee is delicious and pairs well with oatmeal cookies. They have an excellent and diverse menu serving breakfast items like their Chia bowl and great lunch selections of salads and sandwiches.Parking: Usually parking within a blockKid-friendliness: Very kid-friendlyWheelchair accessibility: Downstairs is wheelchair accessible.“
“I loved it! The customer service is amazing, the man in the counter was super nice and friendly. The place is really nice too, they also sell a lot of korean snacks. The food was really good, i ordered a bunch of things from the menu and liked all of them. The portions are big also, i had a nice full filing meal for around $20“
“I am not Vegan and these are so good!!! I picked these up for my boyfriend's family who are vegan. The apple fritter was definitely my favorite, but they are all yummy. The girl working was very patient and friendly when helping me choose which ones to get. She also threw in some extra donut holes! The cinnamon one everyone raves about was sold out when I went around 11am. I'll definitely be back to bring them to the next family gathering. 10/10!!“
“Wow this place is insanely good I actually feel compelled to leave a review. The roti is perfectly and flavorful, the dipping sauces and root curry was spiced just right and flavor level. The service was fantastic, above and beyond for casual dining. Nothing was too oily for my liking. The music and ambiance was super chill. Definitely a hidden gem not to be missed.“
“LOVE LOVE LOVE. The BESTTTT hot chocolate in all of Berkeley and can confidently say that I've had in my life. I've been going here for probably 3 years when I need a pick me up or craving chocolate and have never been disappointed. I've tried their hot chocolates, their coffees (the mocha is amazing), their pastries, you literally cannot go wrong. Everyone there is so sweet, have never had a bad experience. It's really small inside, always pretty crowded with people studying or reading. It's a bit of a hike from campus but worth it.“
“The vegetarian bahn mi sandwiches were quite good and very affordable — $8.95 as of writing this. We also got some smoothies were good. The curry tofu sandwich was our favorite of the vegetarian ones. The bbq pork was also goodOverall a very solid place to go and would go again if in the area“
“I've already made a mental note to revisit this cool donut shop the next time I'm in the neighborhood. The inventive combos, friendly staff, and the sheer addictiveness of their donuts make it a must-visit spot. If you're a donut enthusiast or just someone looking to treat your taste buds to something extraordinary, do yourself a favor and check out this delightful gem. You won't be disappointed!“
“Like many place in this part of the strip - a totally understated gem. The coffee was excellent, the staff friendly, super clean place where it’s pleasant to sit.I just wish the advertising was more prominent. It took me too long to find.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes - elevator behind their second door“
“A friendly spit of great coffees and teas, and good food. They don't at present take credit cards, but your cash is always accepted. Street parking is usually available. It's small inside, but the outside tables are quietly lovely, and the service extremely friendly.“
“Very good coffee, nothing fancy. Very good food options (I usually get the shihan ful). Hangout for a portion of the local Eritrean community. Very friendly place.Dietary restrictions: I've gone with a friend who has a serious food allergy. They were great about accommodating.“
“Favorite milk tea shop in Oakland! What I like most about Golden Tea Shop: variety of tea (they have four different Oolongs!), strength of tea flavor, and value (probably best bang for your buck in Oakland). Personal drink rotation includes the Roasted Black Milk Tea, Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, Jinxuan Oolong Milk Tea, and Thai Milk Tea - all great whether iced or hot. Their fruit teas are also a refreshing choice for summertime (personal fave is Honeydew).Recommendations: Their 50% sugar level, to me, provides the tough-to-find optimal sweetness for those who don't like their milk tea too sweet. While I do enjoy i-Tea as well, I find that their 30% sugar level is still indulgently sweet. Would also recommend at least 75% ice for iced drinks - 50% tends to lead to a lukewarm/cold temp that is not as enjoyable. Finally, would suggest ordering online ahead of time (I use TPass) - drinks can take a while if there's a rush of orders.“
“I go here often! It's a bit out of the way for me but always worth it. Their espresso is always well made and love that there isn't a huge price difference bc they use only vegan milks. Pastries are also vegan, and super yummy!Plenty of seating inside and out, always good vibes and busy.“
“I always enjoy The Wolf. Great lunch today. I had the cod sandwich which was just as good as the last time I had it. My friend had the popover and soup. We sat on the patio and it was so relaxing. I didn't feel rushed at all, which I really appreciated after a crazy week.“
“5 stars for a down right good pizza experience. The most New York kinda slice I’ve had in the Bay Area. Of course nicks is its own, authentic kind a pie, but the thin crust and slightly oozy cheese rolling off just makes me think of East coast vibes. But luckily, everything else, including the wonderful staff are definitely indicative of the Best Coast.“
“Exceptional coffee and outstanding customer service at Cole Coffee Cafe! The staff is always friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about their brews. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you'll feel welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommend stopping by for your caffeine fix!"“
“An amazing local spot for coffee and conversation. I visited Oakland and a good friend and native insisted that we stop by. I'm so glad we did!!! It has an awesome atmosphere and real baristas making real drinks. Our batista was cool, skilled and sociable. We had a great conversation while he made our drinks real time! In a world where coffee is made by machines, it was great to have the human touch!“
“I'm obsessed with this place. I've ordered their jasmine milk tea with boba at 25% sweetness twice and it's high-quality tea. I've also had their Vietnamese egg coffee and it's so sweet and creamy! The service is efficient and friendly. The ambience is cute. I wished I lived closer.“
“Cafe Uccello is my little haven away from the chaos, where productivity meets pleasure. The vibe here is like a burst of energy, perfect for digging into work or just soaking in the moment.Today, I indulged in the egg, cheese, and spinach croissant, and it was an absolute delight for my taste buds. The menu boasts a tempting array of options, ensuring there's something for every palate. In essence, Cafe Uccello isn't just a coffee shop; it's a haven where the ambiance, service, and views converge to create a truly delightful escape. It's become more than a place to enjoy a meal—it's a comforting embrace on the busiest of days.“
“Starter bakery is a spacious, modern bakery located a block away from the Rockridge BART station. There is a lot of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. Starter Bakery's pastries can be found in many coffee shops around Berkeley and Oakland but I was super excited to discover that they have a couple of their own locations. The service is quick and friendly. The staff go above and beyond to make your experience enjoyable. One day I went at 7:30AM and the scones were not glazed yet but the staff glazed one fresh for me. I go to Starter frequently and it is my mid-week sweet treat. Everyone deserves a little treat to get them through the week! Anyways, these are some of the pastries I've gotten so far: -Twice baked ham and cheese croissant: I was so blown away by this croissant. The croissant itself was flaky and served warm. On top of the croissant there is this delicious combination of ham, caramelized onions, a hint of Dijon mustard -Dried orange and cranberry scone (seasonal) This scone flavor is one of my favorites! There is a perfect balance of sweet, citrus, and freshness. The scone is moist and the glaze on top compliments each bite. -Raspberry Kouign Amann (seasonal) -Dried ginger and pear Kouign Amann (seasonal) Every Kouign Amann that I've had from Starter was delicious. The fillings have strong flavors and the pastry itself is crisp with a taste of caramelized sugar at the bottom. It is not overwhelmingly sweet and there is a pleasant balance of sweet/savory. I will continue to come back to Starter Bakery and next time I want to try their breads and sandwiches! I've been to a couple of bakeries in the Bay Area and Starter is a stand out.“
“My coworker told me to check this place out because he said everything he’s had so far from here has been tasty. I decided to check it out for myself an I don’t think I’ve had coffee anywhere better than this place. I love their horchata iced coffee, coquito iced coffee, and dark chocolate mocha. Not only is their coffee delicious but the food is to die for. The bacon toast, chorizo breakfast burrito and their empanadas are soooo good !!! Sometimes the Oakland location does not have empanadas so you will have to go to the San Leandro location.“
“This was our first time using Oaklandia Cafe x Bakery for an event. They exceeded our expectations for our recent catering order for approximately 40 people. Timely delivery was complemented by a delightful culinary journey that left all attendees thoroughly pleased and impressed. The vegetarian and chicken sandwiches were undoubtedly the stars of the show. Both options were prepared with care and attention to detail, resulting in flavors that were not only delicious but also memorable. The vegetarian sandwiches showcased a vibrant array of fresh vegetables and flavorful spreads, appealing to both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Meanwhile, the chicken sandwiches were tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, earning rave reviews from everyone who indulged in them.Special appreciation goes to Kat, whose prompt responses and assurance alleviated any apprehensions as first-time patrons.Overall, I highly recommend Oaklandia Cafe x Bakery for any catering needs. Their delicious food, impeccable presentation, and exceptional service make them a standout choice for any occasion. We were thoroughly impressed and look forward to the opportunity to enjoy their culinary delights again in the future.“
“I've been frequenting this establishment, in one incarnation or another, pretty much since Market Hall was built. It is a wonderful centralized neighborhood hangout, good coffee, friendly service, a good place to catch up with your neighbors or grab a cup before or after heading off on BART or bus. It's not particularly a food place. They have a small selection of pastries, but it is in Market Hall, next to a bakery and many other gastronomic delights“
“I just moved back to Oakland about a week ago from Maui, Hawaii. I’ve never been a Starbucks kind of person, just locally owned coffee shops. And I must admit this place is amazing! Plus I live 3 minutes up the street so it’s convenient for me. Coffee is really good and the Corazon that I had the other day was delicious.Vegetarian options: Don’t know much but I seen on the wall on their menu they have selections of vegetarian food.“
“I felt like.... At home. The owner and his Crew are very friendly, the place has a good vibe it was like... As if my Grand ma made me breakfast . I really like the place and they are dog ? friendly ❤️. Every costumer that walked in was treated like family. I definitely recommend this place“
“Do yourself a favor and eat at Juice Joint! The menu has all your favorites accommodated by a charming inviting atmosphere! I had a burrito and I recommend that and the cheese steak fries, the sandwich options were all tempting and the cheese steak menu and the smoothies were awesome ?. The food, service, and atmosphere is fantastic!“
“Great place to grab a bite and get some work done. The Vietnamese iced coffee is good. As is the bahn mi. The place is pretty tiny, so I felt bad camping out on the WiFi, but I got both breakfast and lunch there, and they didn't seem to mind.“
“First time here and I love it! Perfect stop before are after walking the lake. I got the Chagaccino....coffee and a nutrient dense mushroom together? Big win! The vibe is so cute, bay and chill. The staff was so helpful in helping me pick a drink and answered all my questions, no complaints with service here. My drink was delicious!“
“This is not the place to come with a laptop or friends and chill. The table layout should make that obvious before you enter. It is a place to taste coffee.A good thing to get is the Espresso Flight (pictured): for $11, it's a great taste journey.I usually go to cafes to work on stuff, and therefore this is not a place I will be visiting regularly, but I highly recommend it if you are searching for a coffee experience. Great staff, great space, great coffee.“
“Colonial Donuts makes great donuts. I've had many opportunities to try out their donuts and each time I've been very satisfied with the wide availability of donut flavors. I'm a simply guy, so I really enjoy their basic glazed donut. This must be one of their most popular items because each time I've had it, its been incredibly fresh, which I attribute to them having to re-stock this particular item multiple times throughout the day. If you're like me and can't wait to get home to enjoy your donut, there's plenty of standing counters available where you can dine. Coffee is available here as well if you need something to pair with your tasty donut. Support your local donut shop and give Colonial Donuts a try. The staff here are super nice, and can help you out with a recommendation if you don't know what to get.“
“Man I am LOYAL to this place. Everything here is good! The iced mocha, the mocha java smoothie, regular java smoothie, iced cinnamon dolce, breakfast sandwich... There aren't many drive thru coffee places in oakland so this one is super convenient. Also, the girls working are always super sweet!! I ride for this spot fr and always bring visitors here when we wanna grab a quick coffee :) it's also right by the freeway ramp. There's a 50¢ card fee so I always bring cash with me to make my order a little cheaper!“
“A small little to-go type of cafe. Would love to come back and try the different açaí bowls, but was really craving an avocado toast this day. The bread was on the thicker side and soft, overall the perfect snack size. The iced Yemeni latte was yummy, not overly milky but not a super strong coffee taste either. Would come again if I'm around in the neighborhood. There was only 1 person working at the time I went, so keep that in mind to be okay with being patient when there's multiple customers!“
“came across this coffee shop. I like to support small businesses and this place was packed. It took a long time for me to find a food frappe. This was it. It was delicious and I'm glad I randomly found this place. Also, a lot of sitting area for you and your group of friends.“
“A great neighborhood cafe where you can get coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastry, salad and sandwiches. Convenient location near my job. The bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich is my favorite along with a vip of their coffee. The service is good, I'm usually in a hurry so not a lot of time for interaction. I have observed them having a steady stream of customers so that speaks volumes.“
“Best made coffee I've found in Berkeley. The savory scones are tasty but a bit too salty for me to really complement the coffee. The beans vary: they get them from different roasters every month (?) so the flavor profile changes. The barristas are good at bringing out the best in the shots they pull, so if you're up for a little adventure give it a try.Vegetarian options: Much of the menu is vegetarian although not specifically labeled so. Oat milk is available for the coffee drinks so they can even be vegan.“
“This is a very cute and loved (family owned?) Cafe. They have good coffee, and probably 15 kinds of homemade Turkish delights. Absolutely worth a try, as well as their other sweets. This place really feels well loved by the owners, and the care they took to decorate it and create an ambiance is really impressive (even if Pink is not your color).Pro tip: ask them to make you a Rose Matcha Latte. It's not officially on the menu but delicious“
