“This might just be my absolute favorite middle eastern bakery/ coffee shop. They are so friendly, nice, and welcoming; I didn’t want to leave the place!!
Their honey bite is so darn good! I’m coming right back to buy another one!“

“We’ve got two pour over - Ethiopia and Rwanda. Both had a slightly acidic taste and delicious! The pastry, cinnamon bun, was so good. Soft and not overly sweet. Very tasty. It felt like European-style bread. Despite only two seats available, we still enjoyed our coffee on site. Staff was very friendly.“

“This place instantly made us feel good and welcomed. You can see and taste the care for every detail, from the fluffy egg and delicious ham cheese crossiant to the coffee ice cubes so your iced coffee won't be watered down. This place is superb and wish more took pride in their work and making people feel at home no matter where their from. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!“
“Loved my visit to Boats & Beans! Such a nice addition to that neighborhood! I had a really nice oat milk matcha latte that wasn’t too bitter or sweet and a giant flaky croissant. Really pretty outdoor area surrounded by flower boxes. The whole place felt happy and is worth a stop off the 880! Plenty of street parking. 5 stars!“

“The BEST coffee I've ever had outside of Italy. A variety of rich, complex, nuanced roasts, plus a strong freshly brewed cup in-store. I have loved and been loyal to them since 1988 (formerly Royal, where the kind owner Michael was a baristo)“

“Great little gem! We really enjoyed their veggie croissants. And concha is not to be missed as well. Looking forward to coming back!
Plenty of street parking available, there’s outdoor seats available as well. And they serve coffee.
And best thing is..no long line !“

“This place is really cool. Parking wasn’t bad, but I came early, there was lots of street parking available. Outdoor seating that is covered, plants outside, indoor seating with long tables as well as bar seating in the window and at the counter. Full bar, great Irish coffee, no Wi-Fi but they have the Oakland Public Wi-Fi available and that worked well for me. Definitely would come back. Music was bangin too.“

“This is a beautifully designed Cafe that’s very welcoming! The Horchata latte and almond croissant that I had was absolutely delicious! Only reason why it’s a four-star is because their directional signs aren’t very clear and the bathroom smells really bad!“

“Vibes were immaculate, the drink I got was not.
I got an iced kinfolx latte which has cinnamon, nutmeg , brown sugar and organge zest.
I couldn’t taste any of that.
The espresso was very very strong so if that’s your thing you will like it!
But the vibes and the baristas were great!“

“Hands down my favorite neighborhood coffee shop. There’s a lot of good coffee in Oakland, but this is everything a coffee shop should be — a part of the community, a part of people’s daily routine. Baristas who know your name and know your order. The perfect cup of coffee, zero pretentiousness. Even though I no longer live in the neighborhood, when I want a great cup of coffee, this is where I come.“

“Absolutely my favorite place to have coffee. Their cold brew has a lot of flavor, plenty of rich notes and doesn’t taste watered down, quite unlike some of the other places that serve cold brew as an afterthought. The staff is very knowledgeable and projects a sense of artistry when preparing coffee. My only complaint is their rather unassuming storefront. Unless one is familiar with the area and is deliberately looking for Blue Bottle, they don’t standout and attract attention. But if you do find them, you’re in for a nice treat.“

“Loved my birthday dinner tonight! Portions small for the prices in our opinion. A scallops main dish with 3 scallops is small. Drinks were amazing, decor fabulous and great service. My son had to go eat more food afterwards as he was still hungry. Bigger portions would be good. Loved everything else! Great choices, appetizers, main dishes and creative drinks were delicious. Kind of surprised knowing they knew it was my birthday that they didn't offer me a birthday "something" to make it special. For these prices I would expect something.“

“This restaurant is a standout for its delicious food and exceptional customer service. I appreciated the variety of food options and the ease of ordering. For example, you can customize the sweetness level of the corn dogs, which adds a nice touch.
The clean bathroom suggests they maintain high standards in their kitchen as well.
I was impressed with their accountability when a staff member informed me they accidentally burned part of my order and promptly replaced it.
They offer great food options, including à la carte wings or a meal that comes with rice, salad, and japchae. I enjoyed the vegan smoothies they had.
Overall, this is one of the best Korean restaurants in the area. Definitely worth a visit!
Dietary restrictions: They offer vegan smoothies“

“I tried the house made honeycomb bread with a Jubani and the balance between the two was perfect. The Jubani has a lighter taste that feels closer to tea with the multiple layers of spice flavors. The honeycomb bread is a must try, and pulls apart into bite-sized pieces, which makes eating it while sipping very pleasant. Looking forward to staying to enjoy a tea or coffee pot with friends soon!
Dietary restrictions: I saw several vegan options in the food case. Lookin forward to tasting more since they are in our neighborhood.“

“Amazing and authentic coffee and pastries with Yemenese twists in a warm and inviting environment.“
“Easy to recommend despite the price floor, can't imagine spending under twenty for the basics of eggs and toast here after tax and tip which does fit California but not quite the high crime rate risks of this area. Will hope these great people can stick it out, we were taken care of quickly and had no issues from the attentive staff. Took to a good selection, pancakes, French toast, egg scramble, and avocado toast, showed up timely and looking too ripe for the grams. I noticed my crispy thick bread upholding big standards for bakeries. Delicious and savory, the others had no complaints either unless it's four dollar for a biscuit? That must be the inflation I keep hearing about! I suppose we hitting above our weight zone for the morning but it felt right to treat ourselves to first class. It's a splendid space and open wood, big windows, and lots of texture gives clean easy going vibes for a fun atmosphere. Parking wasn't too bad for a late Saturday morning but can bet it's not the easiest normally.“

“Awesome place to shop! My “go to” produce market for incredibly fresh produce, fruits and dry goods. Great meat and fish market. Superb bakery. Excellent wine shop, And Market Hall pasta shop/main market is simply amazing in SO many ways. Plus, super easy parking and good hours ... important to me and a for real plus. Love this place!!!“
“I came by while waiting to pick someone up and got a latte.
It was delicious, probably my favorite latte I’ve had in the Bay Area (I got the date one).
I enjoyed it in their living room like space while flipping through some books that they have in their shelf.
Def looking forward to trying their other lattes!
The service I received was excellent. The art was beautiful, including the one in the bathroom. There’s even a bidet!
Looks like there are regulars and that laptop work and camping for hours is welcomed.“

“My new fave: Cute little space with a couple tables inside and out front, very sweet team behind the counter (brother & sister?). For the price of an avocado toast elsewhere, I got an avo toast AND an açaí bowl. The toast was topped with a flavor bomb of cherry tomatoes, arugula and chili flakes. And the açaí bowl was fresh bananas, strawberries, blueberries and crunchy granola atop - get this - passion fruit, my absolute favorite flavor in the whole wide world!“

“I got an iced vanilla/Carmel late and it was great. They also used less ice than other places so I felt like I was paying for the liquid rather than the ice. I also got a sausage egg and cheese sandwich and it was wonderful. I don't live in CA but I'll come back here next time I visit the area.“

“♿️Cafe has a wheelchair accessible seating, entrance and toilet. Seating available outside in front of the cafe, in the cafe and in the back patio .
Wonderful family run cafe. Popular with many Glenview elementary families in the mornings before school. Excellent selection of coffees, teas and breakfast pastries and bagels. Great to sit inside or outside. And nice spot to get some work done. Customer service is personal and so kind. As we are regulars, they recognize our son, and they always say hello to him.
Parking: Street parking on Park Blvd varies. Sometimes easy to get a spot in the morning if needed, sometimes a bit challenging later in the day.
Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, seating and restroom“

All the variety you could ask for and then some and the nicest welcoming owner who is happy to share her without a doubt professional experience and knowledge of tea and everything related to it. And did I mention the ambiance? Classical music, lovely decor and absolutely a delightful experience overall. We had a wonderful time, thank you "Sophie's Cuppa Tea".“

“My favorite Easy Bay cafes for working during lockdown - #1, Hudson Bay One of the things I miss the most during lockdown is having a place to get coffee and work for a while – yes, I know I’m not alone there ;) So I’m going to share my very favorite places to work during lockdown – i.e., cafes that have a fair amount of outdoor seating (and preferably decent Wi-Fi coverage too). The Hudson Bay café was a fairly regular haunt for me during normal times, and during lockdown it’s running pretty well with lots of safety precautions: Perspex screens, sanitizer, and a window counter if you don’t want to walk inside. Staff members were super-friendly as usual and there’s always good music playing (it’s faint outside, so I could just barely hear The Smiths and The Weeknd drifting out through the side door). One thing to note is that the prices are very reasonable – my veggie burrito cost an amazing $7 (or maybe $7.50) – and it had guac in there too! And it was big! I also had an oat milk latte and a slice of pound cake and the whole tab was around $14. For comparison, I paid the same amount at another place this week for a coffee, cookie and plain croissant. Lockdown Stats: • Seating: There are about 6 tables outside and chances are reasonable that you’ll get a spot. If you’re stuck without a seat you can hang out on a bench outside the library across the street. • Bathroom: Another good thing about going to Hudson Bay to drink a lot of coffee – the bathroom is open! It’s surprising how many cafés have no bathroom availability after selling you a big old cup of diuretic! • Hours: Note that they close at 5 pm at the moment, not 6, but they’ll let you linger till maybe 5:30. • Weather: Hudson St. faces southwest, so it’s often pretty warm, even around closing time! • Budget: As mentioned above, Hudson Bay is one of the cheapest places around (esp. on College Ave.) to get lunch. I’m also giving the Hudson Bay Café 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on this: • Very longstanding independent café and community gathering spot. • Coffee beans come from McLaughlin roasters in Emeryville - another East Bay staple. • Some of McLaughlin’s coffee varieties are organic and most are bought directly from cooperatives or family farms that support communities. • It kind of goes without saying that plant-based milks are available – and raw turbinado sugar too. • The menu is a bit more traditional but there are a few veggie and vegan options. I think they’ll also make veggie/vegan mods to a menu item, if you ask, since everything is cooked to order. • There’s not a lot of info available about Hudson Bay’s sourcing of ingredients – my feeling is that the owners want to keep things as unpretentious as possible. Since it’s lockdown I’m not going to bust their balls over it :D • Waste is minimized pretty well, even during lockdown when most places are loading on the plastic. “Such a hidden gem in Oakland! When I saw the low prices for food I expected that would reflect in the quality as well, but instead all the food is super fresh, hearty, and delicious! Their sausage egg and cheese bagels are the perfect start to a cozy day. I’ve been going frequently since I discovered it and it doesn’t hurt that the staff are so incredibly friendly and kind!“

“Stumbled on this place when working across the street servicing a customer's equipment and needed to grab lunch nearby. Had the best turkey and swiss deli sandwich of my life, not kidding. Now, every time I drive by the place I salivate. Had the chance to stop by there again today, one year later, and the turkey and swiss sandwich was even better! Fresh high quality bread, turkey, swiss cheese, tomato, red onion, lettuce, and some kind of special sauce. Incredibly delicious and a very rare find!“

“Ten of us in Oakland for a wedding just descended on this suggested cafe for breakfast. A family member who’d lived in Oakland recommended it. She was right to. Our server was absolutely fantastic. She was prompt, had a wonderful attitude and a genuine personality. Our breakfast orders were varied, came out accurate and all of us enjoyed a great 40 mins or so. Parking was easy and pretty much right out front. Definitely recommend the Coffee Mill for a no frills authentic breakfast experience where you feel welcome.“

“Hasta Muerte quickly became my favorite coffee shop in the East Bay! I live near Emeryville but come all the way here whenever I can because it’s worth it. It’s an *actual* gathering spot with a cozy vibe, vs the generic “airy” looking (and feeling) spots all over the place with intentionally limited or no seating. The coffee and pastries are AMAZING (I had a coyota and a mazapán latte), and the staff is super friendly and generally seem like they’re having a good time which adds to the atmosphere.“

“Been coming here for over two decades and the best authentic food hands down ?? Amazing breakfast dishes and worth every penny. Glad it’s still around because Mr. G’s used to be the spot too before they closed. But you will be satisfied with Luis and his family. Great and nice people. Cooked from their heart and soul. I still visit when I am visiting my old hometown. Hard to find places like this where I live now.“
