Restaurantji's Pacheco recommendations for the finest Mexican cuisine.
“I finally had a chance to have a quick lunch at Los Pacos. Initially, I wanted to try this taqueria out but got confused with Los Panchos nearby Diablo Valley College. I had a quick dinner here on a rainy Friday night that consists of Tripas, Pastor, and Asada tacos. The restaurant is adorned with cool Dia de los Muertos portraits, that was a nice touch. Not long after, complementary chips came with salsa and their orange and verde sauces. The chips were good, and the salsa that came in tow has the right amount of yum. The orange sauce was delicious as well and the verde was properly hot, kudos to you Los Pacos. Then after a few minuities, my tacos came as well, with picked onions on the side. These tacos are laid down on a beautifully designed plate that works well along with the rest of the restaurant. First bite was the asada. Wow. Okay, that meat was wonderfully seasoned and was also equally tender. Top it off with their orange sauce and a dash of the verde made much more delicious. Next off was the pastor; "what is this?!" The marinated pork had a little bit of fat in it. I rarely see this type presentation and man that was yummy as well. The marinade was one of the best I've tasted. Last but not the least was the tripas. Okay, pretty decent as well. Savory and with its distinct tripas taste, it was good though the the best I have had (ahem, Chavelitas in Antioch). Overall my taco dinner was pretty strong. Strong enough that it shoots Los Pacos up on my list. As I understand, Los Panchos used the restaurant where now Los Pacos stands. I had burritos from one and tacos in the other, which I feel is like comparing apples and oranges. But with the meat being the same with both, and having eaten at both within a week, I would say Pacos wins by a very definitive margin. That pastor...man!“
“I always pass this place & finally stopped in today & grabbed a Steak Taco Salad. I have to say, it was freaking amazing. Balanced ingredients, a plethora of sauces on the side, made to order and not soaked in sour cream. After 20 years in the Concord area, this is the best Mexican food I've come across. Highly recommend.“
“Amazing restaurant, Service was awesome, pricing is completely reasonable and affordable.Atmosphere is cozy and very friendly. Brian the owner came to check on us and was hospitable and cheerful.Let's get to the good part. FOOD.I have eaten many plates of chilaquiles in my day and I can honestly say this establishment IS THE BEST I'VE HAD. The super burrito was perfect as well.If you haven't been here you are missing out.Well worth the visit, I will be returning to try the many other dishes that are offered.Great job Brian ◉‿◉PS photo is of the chilaquiles rojo“
“One of the best taco spots I've had in a while and wish there was a location closer to me! Even the plain ol rice and beans had me and I'm not even a rice and beans kinda person. Also, I'm picky when it comes to horchata and they have one of the best! Staff is also so friendly!! 10/10 im definitely coming back any time im in the area!“
“Been to Mi Casita several times and unfortunately haven't taken the time to post. The food and service is awesome! I keep trying more dishes and haven't found anything I didn't like. I especially love the Birria taco's. They come with an au Jus dipping sauce but with a lot more flavor. The breakfasts are tasty and with the beautiful presentation you would expect at a high end resort restaurant. Staff is super nice and personable. I'd post more pictures but I tend to start eating before I think about it. Jim W.“
“This food is always great. I live in Concord &I pass a number of Mexican food spots in ConcordTo come here.Dietary restrictions: It's your choiceParking: Parking has never been hard for meBut I do have handicap parkingKid-friendliness: Kids are welcomeWheelchair accessibility: It's great they have it“
“The first 5 times I went to this place it was great. The last 3 times I've gone here there's been something wrong with our order. The last two times we ordered super burritos the cheese is never melted. Just a big lump of cold cheese in the middle of the burrito. Also we seem to have gotten really overcooked carne asada meat. It was like chewing on leather. Our orders were to go so we didn't notice until we got home. Hopefully they shore up their problems in the kitchen. I'll still go back and order their food.“
“Nice lunch spot. Dinnner is much more chill. Very clean location, always friendly & fast service. The food is standard fare, the flavors are right but not super spicy, probably to accomodate all clientelle. I appreciate the salsa bar & that Door Dash is an option. Always a good experience.Vegetarian options: 5 items.Parking: Busiest at lunch but shopping center is large.Kid-friendliness: High chairs and booster seats. Cups with lids. No kids menu.“
“I'm a proud torta snob and my BF and I have been on the hunt for a good one for ~6/7 years. On a whim we found this pace and love their tortas so much we don't order anything else for fear of missing the torta experience too much. We get the carne asada specifically and it's perfection. The bread is soft but slightly grilled so there's a nice crunch. The meat is ALWAYS cooked well, sliced thin, and flavorful. The veggies are fresh and the pickled jalapeño adds a kick. The bonus is the homemade chips with the salsa - just so good. I've eaten at least 7 of them and the quality and taste is consistent. I think it's the bread, honestly, that takes this next level. I wish I could buy their bread in bulk. Also, we've eaten in the restaurant only twice and the main woman who runs the show is the nicest person with the biggest smile. She is lovely. The whole staff is great and always smiling when I see them, too. Overall just a great place with tasty tortas (and I'm sure great food in general) and kind people.“
“First time here and it didn't disappoint. Ordered an al pastor burrito and it was probably the best one I've had in the area so far; the salsas are great as well. Everything came out quickly and the inside was clean and orderly. Service was great as well, the cashier was very kind and was happy to answer any questions we had. Definitely coming back!“
“I went to both the scarbs food truck and the subi and both times ughh, it’s been SO good! And I’m picky, the flavours were immaculate, soft beef, and the consume was delicious. It’s addicting and so worth the price ? very friendly service “
“If you really want to have elevated Mexican food and a good drink or drinks. I would not hesitate to come back to Tzunun. I consider this place to be one of the top, if not the top Mexican restaurant in the bay. And that says a lot about me coming from San Diego. Because most Mexican restaurants here are just ok, I mean just OK. Ok, they are not that good. I'm glad I found this one.“
“The Best Carne Asada Tacos in Martinez. I just ordered 3 carne asada tacos and oh my goodness. It was delicious. The taco shells were soft and I got the mild flavor. Just great. Also the register lady was very nice and courteous. Awesome job guys. Keep up the great work. Thank you.. this is my new spot for Carne Asada Tacos in Martinez. ?“
“Nice little hole in the wall Papuseria. The food was delicious, especially the fried plantains! We ordered a wet burrito, different types of papusas, yuca frita and plantains. Let's just say, all my kids gobbled down their food w no complaints (unheard of).Service was fast, friendly owner and cooks. Def not a sit down restaurant type of a place. It is more for dropping in and having a quick bite or getting your food to go.Parking: Parking available in front and on the side of the restaurant. It is not located in a place where there is heavy foot traffic or shops etc.Kid-friendliness: It's very laid back.“
“Another case of Kevin forgetting to take pics of the food! But don't let that stop you. My carna asada buttito was super tasty. Filling but not gut busting. Nice flavor, good pieces of meat, decent amount of beans and guacamole. Could have used some extra heat - next time going ask for jalapeños to be added when its being made. Shrimp burrito had plenty of shrimp for our son. He enjoyed it. Wife was initially puzzled by her burrito since it started out all meat and rice before she hit her guac and sour cream. Good experience. Decent pricing. Super friendly service.“
“Fabulous place the food here is terrific. My wife and I have eaten here gotten takeout and picked catering for a party we had. Everything was fresh and delicious and they aren't skimpy on the portions. Some of our favorite items are the chicharrón tacos, the carne asada, the chips and tamales. Both the corn and flour tortillas are good. I get a bag of the flour ones to make wraps or quesadillas with for lunch . The house green salsa is great and if you want some heat try the red. Glad we found this place!“
“Hands down the best party decision I've made. I hosted a 60 person adult birthday/graduation party with catering from Ranchero. Customer service was excellent called days poor to check headcount, before coming and was 15 minutes early to set up. Set up in second and took the mess with them.. yes!!!! The food was flavorful, warm and extremely tasty. Had more than enough for people to get 2nds and 3rds. So many options. Something different for everybody, as we know how hard it is to feed so many people with dietary striction's nowadays. The staff was extremely helpful, fast and always had a smile.. The truck was clean with chips and salsa outside. The chips were actually heads down my favorite parts. Definitely hand made and not from a bag. I would recommend and book them again H- Martinez Ca“
“I have been going here for 2 years. They are super consistent, very friendly, great food, professional, great prices, I highly recommend THIS Cinco De Mayo. I order the WET cardne asada wet burrito with half green sauce and half red sauce with extra cheese and oh my.. very delicious. So I would just like to say thank you to the whole team at this location. Keep up the great work.“
“The tacos here are SO good. I just moved from San Francisco and I’d argue these tacos are better than any that I’ve had in the city. I’ve come back here so many times and I’ve only been in Walnut Creek for 3 weeks. Much better than Tacos Walnut Creek.Great salsa bar, friendly staff, and awesome food.“
“Vegetarian burrito. Delicious. Beans, cheese, avocado, guacamole too()onions(raw), pico de gallo.Delicious Consumed too quickly to take photos;)but I will next time, because there WILL BE a NEXT TIMEDelicious olds school, fresh, authentic big A burrito-yum.Walked in(30 minutes till close)-didn't know it was a nice size restaurant with outside tables . Last table was leaving,a large happy family. I maybe took a risk(ordering so late, in a new town(Corncord,CA)and just off cufff)BUT, man, did they DELIVER(no pun intended~this was a pick)“
“Nice Mexican restaurant in Walnut Creek. The restaurant opens at 10:00. I ordered at the cashier Chilaquiles Verdes, a plate that comes with rice, beans, crema on the plate with a green savory sauce mixed together with crispy tortilla chips and an over easy egg right on top, you can add meat for extra price if you like, the tortillas were in point, not soggy and you can feel the crunch on every bite. I’m glad I ordered Al pastor taco, a marinated pork in adobo with smoking, tender, sweet, crackling thinly slices overflowing two tortillas. The place has a help yourself salsa bar with fresh tortilla chips and several sauces to choose from. The prices are most affordable with a well kept area with seating outside.“
“We LOVE Chico's Taqueria! Incredibly fast, consistently fresh and delicious food, Wonderful owners! Burritos, Tacos, Quesadillas...get in there and try them!Vegetarian options: Cheese quesadillas, bean cheese rice burritos, chile verde...Parking: Easy plentifulKid-friendliness: Tons of options for littles“
“This place has absolutely delicious birria tacos and consomé. This has been the only thing I've ordered from their menu (there's no other place I know of near me that serves these tacos) but I would also like to try their birria quesadillas. They're listed on the menu as "red tacos" and are about $15 for 3 tacos and the consomé is a separate extra cost. When it comes out fresh, the tacos are super cheesy and yummy. The building is very spacious and doesn't get too busy, so I always get to grab a table. In the middle of the restaurant, they display their desserts and pastries such as flan and alfajores. The restaurant is located in the Park and Shop surrounded by a lot of different Asian cuisines, dessert shops, and a grocery store. If you try parking close to the restaurant, that is the area that is the most congested, we always park in the back of the building.“
“Uhhm can I just say that this place is probably the only great spots out here in the Contra Costa Concord/Pittsburg/Antioch/Walnut Creek area. I have had my fair share at eating at places like this in the East Bay and it's alright unless you're in the hood. But foreals, my elote was evenly balanced with the mayo, cheese and hot cheetos. I honestly swallowed the hell out of my elote and savored my hot cheetos and pepino - LOL. They're so good, I went around my office advertising this location. I may not know the difference with how authentic it is within the Hispanic community, but I will say that this place has perfected their treats and I couldn't be more grateful.“
“Hands down THE BEST Mexican Restaurant in Walnut Creek, CA! Service was exemplary! Food came pippin HOT! Never had to ask for anything. Our server was on top of her game!!! Things to try when you go next time: Build your own omelet is superb; i ordered spinach, mushrooms, avocado, and jalapeños. Hubby loved his breakfast chicken burrito. Our son had the pancakes combo! Relatively great portions! And ample free parking! The cook is excellent and gives great recommendations. The staff is very polite and friendly, they make you feel like family! Now what more do u need than ALL that?! Go check this small business out, kitty will not be a waste of your time or tastebuds! Thanks for reading!Vegetarian options: Must let your server know your requests. They are pretty understanding and accommodating. Just ask.Kid-friendliness: They have a section for kids. Which is a win-win!“
“Great experience everything freshly prepared if you want a great experience go check them out.Parking: Its around other business but its enough to where she has outside sitting. I'm not saying stay all day but it has accommodations.Kid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“Food was delicious, LA Primavera has several servers, this last time we really got a server who did not care to her job, ignored us from the start, we asked for water & a young man brought it , finally she gave us the menus, we waited about 15 min to order ,she came to take our order and seemed annoyed when I asked if the guac had jalapeños in it, a yes or no answer is sufficient, she rolled her eyes and said if you dont like spicy you should eat at home, our food came out , not once did she stop by to ask if we needed anything else, we finished eating and she just stood at the cash register in the main dining room working on some paper,We waited about 20 min for the check, which I had to get up and go ask her. She gave it to me , and I paid right there and then. I don't think she likes to serve a table for 2 persons, maybe the tip is a factor, I am a true believer that if you go out to eat, you have to tip and we are good tippers, most of the time 20 -25% , sometimes a bit more as some servers are absolutely nice and amazing. We all have off days, but it does not give anyone the right to be rude , her comments and eye rolling where out of the ordinary. I will definitely not go back for a while and if we do I will make sure she is NOT our server!“
“Have driven by Taqueria P-Hill since they opened, made the mental note to "go there!".After tiring of many unmemorable street tacos around P-Hill/Concord, I finally went here to give it a try. I kept it simple, ordered two El Pastor street tacos. Super nice Amigo took my order and then proceeded to load up on fresh salsas to try + spicy peppers/carrort/onion/potato side. Order served, which was a perfect serving for me. I tasted each salsa they offered that day. Settled on the mango salso for the El Pastor.....reminded me of tacos I ate is Sayulita, Mexico. I know I gave this a 5-star rating for my single dining experience; however, the rating stands because my nit-picky personality wants to return again. We are lucky to have local business like Taqueria P-Hill. Drop in and give them a try. I will for sure!“
“We were in Concord and looking for some good Mexican food. My husband found this place on Yelp and decided we should try it. We came in on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. As soon as we walked through the door we could smell food and it smelled delicious. The server came over as soon as we sat down to take our order. She was very nice and answered the questions we had. She brought over chips, salsa and beans. I had a top shelf margarita it was very good. I ordered the chile verde it was delicious. My husband and son got burritos. They came with sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo on the side. They were both very happy with their food. I had a bite of burrito it was delicious too. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was hot and fresh. Our server did check on us to see if we were happy with our food or needed refills on our drinks. The women's bathroom was extremely clean and the restaurant had some great art on the walls. They also have a TV the baseball game was on while we were dining. This was a great find we really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back to try more dishes.“
“First time to 5 Tacos & Beers. They far exceeded my expectation. The service was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable. Just the right amount of service level. The food is AMAZING. We ordered the Chips and Guac. Soooo good. I got the Flatas De Pollo. My wife got the Quesabirria. I can’t rave enough about the food. We have been looking for a go to Mexican restaurant. Thankfully, we just found it. Everything was absolutely DELISH!!We have also tried Bar Camino. That place doesn’t begin to hold a candle to 5 Tacos. Don’t waste your time trying Bar Camino when you can come here. Food is super salty at Bar Camino anyway. Drinks at 5 Tacos were also spot on. I tried a few different Margs. They know what they are doing.Thank You to the wait staff and chef for being such a delight. We will absolutely be back! Can’t wait to eat here again!!Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options. Waitress pointed them out to us as we were reviewing the menu.Parking: You will need to find street parking or park in a nearby paid meter lot. Weekends are very busy. I’ve always been able to find parking though.“
“Food was tally tasty and filling. We're were served quickly. My friend ordered a Margarita and said it was the best she's had in a while. Also, I was dining in, but also placed an order to go. Our waitress didn't muss a beat and brought out my Togo order when she brought the check.I've also been here for Sunday brunch. Great taste and selection.“
“Long time favorite! Haven't lived near there in 20 years but make a point to stop anytime we drive through town. The (old no. 19) burritos are tasty and filling! The crispy taco just the right crunch and flavor! Friendly service! Happy to get to stop by Pacheco before it's move... classic spot!“
“SERVICE IS GOOD HERE AT THIS MEXICAN RESTUARANT.. A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT NEED IMPROVEMENT.. WHEN IT IS COLD OUT SIDE WE WANTED TO COME WHERE IT WOULD BE COMFORTABLE INSIDE TO ENJOY A GOOD HOT MEAL. THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE IS RATHER COLD. I NOTICED OTHER CUSTOMERS PUTTING ON THEIR JACKETS AND RUBBING THEIR HANDS TO STAY WARM. 2ND THE FOOD TASTE OK. BUT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER IF THE DISHES WERE SERVED HOT. THE FOOD CAME OUT LUKE WARM AND WAS COLD IN JUST A FEW MINUTES SINCE THE RESTAURANT WAS COLD TO SIT IN.. EVEN DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS THE FOOD DOES NOT COME OUT HOT.. WHEN THE FOOD IS HOT THE FLAVORS POP! MAYBE HAVE A OVEN TO KEEP THE PLATES HOT? I LIKE TO PATRONIZE THE LOCAL BUSINESS BUT WITH AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS IT WILL BE HARD TO MAKE A DECISION TO COME BACK DURING THE WINTER MONTHS.. I FEEL IF YOU MAKE THESE SMALL CHANGES IT WILL KEEP YOUR RESTAURANT ON TOP OF THE LIST.. THANKS FOR THE GOOD SERVICE THOUGH!“
“When I'm craving tacos from Baja California- Norte, I always come here. The service is fast and the beer battered tacos are incredible! The order is quite large (3 full size tacos per order), but usually share them. I have to order mine without cheese, but they are still great.“
“The food was good. There was a mixup with our table. The people at our table hadn't left yet. We ordered in the bar, but before our food showed up, our table was ready. The service was slow, but great when it happened. We all liked our food. The noise level was very loud.“
“Their food is delicious! We usually get the Asian salad, nacho salad, tacos, burritos and brownies. They never disappoint! I love this place and I’m so glad they’re still thriving after all these years. Also, the potato salad is amazing!“
“I rarely order shrimp in restaurants. I find them to be tough and tasteless. But not at El Jarro! The shrimp tacos are tender and very flavorful. Service is wonderful. The staff is friendly and professional. The tortilla chips are nice and crisp and the guacamole and salsas are great. El Jarro’s prices are very affordable. El Jarro has become a weekly treat. Thembs up!“
“I am in the search for the best Menudo in Concord. I would say it ranks high on the list. It is tucked away in the back of the shopping center. Very authentic home recipe food. Staff was friendly also. Horchata was made fresh to order also. Fresh Tortillas are always a plus. We will be back. We heard there is a line in the morning, so it was good we were there mid afternoon.“
“Found this place from a lady at Long Beach Airport, and was she on point! The meats are all grilled on an open wood fire grille, the flavors are amazingly delicious! The staff is super friendly and treat you as if you’ve been coming for ages. By far this is the best Mexican place in the north Bay Area for sure.. n don’t forget to try the beans(only found there)!“
“Food is well seasoned and well prepared. Tastes authentic and fresh. Same applies to the aguas and salsas. I've been here 4 times and my food is always good and hot. Some inconsistencies with service and ingredients, are my only negatives. I love the home cooked taste and the simple dining interior. Feels like a spot in Mex.“
“Drinks are fire . I really like how you see what the drinks look like before you order them. People are nice I went up to the cashier and asked for the WiFi password - got it without a problem. our waiter was really nice and welcoming ( Paul ) He was dressed fancy too . Would recommend coming in and saying hi to Paul .“
“We come here all the time to get the kids B&C burritos and usually have a great experience! I couldn’t find the owner email so I will share here. Today when my order was “ready” the employees said a name (I couldn’t understand) and then signaled to me that my order was ready. By the time I got home I realized it was the wrong order. I went back to pick up my correct order only to realize an item was missing. When I asked for one more Itty bitty B&C they gave me the hardest time about making it on the house. Please ensure you have employees that can speak enough English to properly intake orders and understand how to rectify cust sat issues. Thanks!“
“Always the best, Dave has a repor with his customers no other businesses have. I ask him for advise, talk about real "life" situations, and look forward to seeing him and eating at casa gourmet every time. Can't say enough good things about him or his food.Parking: Big lot with open spacesKid-friendliness: Dave is the most friendly person to all peopleWheelchair accessibility: No stairs, no curbs, straight shot to eat from the parking lot or street“
“Pretty good service if there is a line inside u can order on the tablet that's inside overall pretty good the people are niceVegetarian options: Thers food there that u can get if ur veganKid-friendliness: Everything u get can be for kidsParking: Not really but it's public parking and there's plentyWheelchair accessibility: Pretty good if u are in a wheel chair pretty close“
“Come here weekly. Best salsa and the best burritos are right here! The green salsa is so good it’s indescribable. I love the vibe, and workers are always kind since we’re regular customers. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Shoutout to Spencer!“
“The food is great order 2 nights in a row first night order the taco combo & 3 Birra tacos second night order the empanadas combo an Birra combo I wish they stop saying combo because it does not come with rice or beans. (Order through DoorDash“
“we stopped in for a couple of burritos. first time visiting the restraunt and they were both very good sized burritos and filling. they also gave complimentary chips and salsa that was good and the lady at the front counter had good customer service. ? The restraunt also had a good amount of seating inside if we weren't doing a to-go order.my friend had a carne asada burrito and I had a shredded chicken and we were both very full by the time we left. They also have bottled mexican coca-cola there as well as other cold drink options.Definitely will be back sometime soon.Wheelchair accessibility: is on level ground.“
“Wow! This place was delicious. I ordered salsa verde enchiladas and they tasted so fresh. They brought me chips and salsa too, before my food came out and the salsa was so tasty. Highly recommend if you anywhere close to this area to stop in!“
“My family has been going here for over 30 years. The entire staff is friendly and very responsive. The food is consistently great and they've hosted many birthdays, family get-togethers, and casual dinners there. It's my go-to Mexican “
“I stopped by here because it was "Crunchy Taco Thursday" and I was thinking it would be like the usual "taco tuesdays" where you get small tacos for a dollar.Well, the price wasn't $1 a taco. It was $3 and the tacos weren't small, they were regular sized. So that equates to about right. Price for portion.Now... the chicken and salsa... wow.. very delicious and the service was quick. Friendly staff too.“
