“We were treated here by one of my rich friends and honestly, that’s probably the only scenario where a place like this makes sense for treating the whole family out. My family has a very high bar for food. People say I’m picky, and I’m like, “Please… meet my mother.”

Service-wise, this place is flawless. The staff is charming, attentive, and somehow manages to make you feel both fancy and comfortable at the same time.

Since it’s family style, we shared practically everything and with a party of seven, those plates add up fast. By the time the table was full, the bill was basically giving luxury vacation energy.

Out of everything we tried, the Radiatori Braised Beef Ragu was the clear standout. Rich, comforting, and the kind of pasta that shuts everyone up at the table for a minute.

The Garlic Knot bread was good, though we weren’t big on the pieces with the garlic ends. After some research (and by research, I mean a heated family debate followed by frantic Googling), we realized that’s a pretty common thing in restaurants — just not our personal preference. Oh and the drinks were on point :)

Overall, a lovely, polished meal… definitely best enjoyed when someone else is picking up the tab.“

“NY transplant always looking for great pizza in LA and I don’t know why there isn’t a line out the door here. Different from NY pizza due to the chewy sourdough crust but the square pie is unlike any pizza I ever tasted. Round pie is excellent too.

“Anyone that says the positive reviews are fake are jaded. Genuinely the best pizza I’ve had in LA, and the family that run it are wonderful, warm and hardworking people. I don’t think you have to compare it to NY pizza, it’s just standalone good—and you can tell a lot of care went into it. The quality and price is also great compared to other spots that charge $30+ for a pie. Sure it’s near the station, but there’s a parking lot you can quickly just stop in to pick up. It’s our new go-to pizzeria moving forward, and we’re happy to be able to support such a gem.“

“NYC cheese slices are my jam, and we have an embarrassment of riches in Sherman Oaks. Within a mile of each other, there are three, count 'em three, authentic NY slice shops. My son and I visited all three of them on a self-guided cheese slice tour of Sherman Oaks. Pizza Wagon was stop three on the tour!

The atmosphere is good...NY decor on the walls in what feels like a truly neighborhood / not-chain space. The service was great too...the staff worked quickly and were abundantly friendly and helpful.

They do a good job with authentic style slices...the right amount of crisp on the crust and a good ratio of sauce versus cheese. The chew was good, though both the crust and sauce don't quite have the superior flavor profile of the nearby places.

It's definitely a good alternative to those, though, and miles ahead of the major chain pizzas in terms of NY style.“

But SAMO PIZZA is the real deal.

We had the BBQ chicken pizza and the pepperoni supreme, and all 10 of us ate until we were full.

Taboni in Tarzana is an absolute gem. The pizza is outstanding — perfectly blistered crust, fresh ingredients, and that balance of sauce, cheese, and toppings that reminds you what real pizza should taste like. You can tell everything is made with care. The corn dish was also incredible — sweet, smoky, and loaded with flavor.

What really made the experience stand out was the service. Naor took great care of us from the moment we walked in. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely proud of the food they’re serving. It’s the kind of place where you feel welcome right away.

“I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while now, and decided to do so when my friend wanted to meet up with me for lunch during work hours. We ended up getting the Mikey white rabbit pizza. Which came with an Alfredo type sauce, Parmesan, spinach, and spicy sausage. But we decided to add pepperoni and jalapeños! Phenomenal pizza most definitely would get again. Also would like to try a lot of their other options.“

“Got delivery from here through a third party but had to come talk about how great the food was. I’m from the east coast, and the garlic knots are some of the best I’ve had in my entire life. The chicken alfredo was pretty typical, but was hot and fresh even after having it delivered a few miles up the road. If I’m ever in LA again, I will most definitely return.“

If they want to encourage dining there, they could certainly make the dining room more inviting with some simple, inexpensive upgrades. (Like loose the XMAS decorations and Santas. It's almost March, replace the burned-out light bulbs in the chandeliers, red-checked tablecloths on the tables, don't store supplies in the dining room or where visible from it. Some type of partition around the order counter would help).“

“Petramale Pizza is a hidden gem in LA! So happy to have heard about this spot because Steve's pizza is not only the tastiest I've had in LA so far, but the man himself is a joy to be around. I'd highly recommend the Margaroni.

Petramale pops up in a church parking lot every Friday which also makes for a fun vibe, especially in the late afternoons/evenings. It is a must try for any Angeleno and I can't wait to return!“

Instructions for reheating worked perfectly..although I can’t say my sauce “racing stripe” was as pretty as the Chefs 🤣🤣. Didn’t even matter though because this was the absolute best, and tastiest pizza I’ve ever had! Crust was thick and had the perfect crunch, sauce was divine (and I’m not even a big sauce fan), cheese oh so good and the pepperonis were heavenly 😌🍕😋. Their dow comes from NY. The taste is unlike any other in town. “We stopped here after an afternoon at the beach: 4 adults, 2 seniors, and 3 children ages 2 to 4. Service was excellent, very accommodating and patient with our large group including little ones. “Getting good pizza in California (compared to nyc) is not the easiest thing to do but this pizza was amazing. We got the mushroom gruyere pizza and cacio e pepe which I highly recommend- we were so impressed. The beet pistachio salad was incredible. I wouldn't recommend the spaghetti and meatballs/ pretty plain but reliable. I also don't recommend the wine by the glass- not the best. But overall it was such a nice experience and seems to be a great a local spot.“
