“If you’re craving a really good wrap, whether American or Armenian style, this is the spot.
We came here for lunch after hearing about it from friends for a long time, and it definitely lived up to the hype!! The ladies at the front were super helpful and gave great recommendations. We ended up trying the soujouk and the peppered turkey, and both were amazing!!
But honestly you guys, that soujouk sandwich… JUST WOW! The soujouk has this perfect spicy, peppery flavor that just hits. I had never tried it with mayo and avocado before, but the combination worked so well together. Everything blended perfectly!
Highly recommend this spot, Trust!“
“Without a doubt, this is our favorite Russian/Ukrainian grocery store in Los Angeles! We drove a long way just to shop here, and it was absolutely worth it.
The selection is incredible—you can find almost everything from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. It brought back so many memories! We ended up spending almost $800 because there were so many amazing products we wanted to take home.
We bought red and black caviar, fresh homemade meals, dairy products, kefir, pomegranate juice, ice cream, snacks, and so many other authentic products. Everything was fresh, high quality, and delicious.
The homemade food is outstanding. We especially loved the Ukrainian borscht, Uzbek plov, beef stroganoff, stuffed cabbage rolls (golubtsy), chicken kabobs, lamb chops, syrniki, crepes, Olivier salad, and homemade pastries. It honestly tastes like real homemade cooking.
The staff was friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent customer service. The store is clean, well organized, and fully stocked with authentic products that are very difficult to find anywhere else.
If you’re looking for authentic Eastern European, Russian, Ukrainian, or Georgian food, this is the place to visit. We highly recommend this store and will definitely be coming back. Thank you for such an amazing shopping experience!“

“I had the Pastrami Sandwich. I believe it’s called Noi sandwich. It is the best of this kind I’ve had. I have had a lot. The meat has great taste without being salty and the unique way they slice the meat makes a great difference.
The Noodle Koogle is delicious as well. Not overly sweet creamy inside which crunchy noodle bits on top.“

“Food is pretty good, omlette was good and everyone else liked their sandwiches. Lost 1 star because of the doll house sized cream cheese given with to go orders. I mean seriously, its tiny. This container would be a tight fit as a GI Joe helmet. You could barely fit thoughts and prayers inside it. Aside from the anthill hot tub, food was quite good.“

“From the moment I walked through the door, I knew I was in for a treat, and boy, did Mush Meat Market deliver! “I wasn't impressed with their selection of ice cream. They have single serve ice cream and also larger sizes. Their prices are incredible. Ice cream are imported and are very fancy In comparison to local convenient stores ♡Very impressed!“
“I remember coming in here with my Savta every Thursday to help her pick up fresh food/produce for Shabbat dinner. Those are some of the greatest & fondest memories that I have of & with My Savta.!Please, If you have never been here before, just give them a try, if you do not like them, then, by all means, go some place else.*NEVER let any opportunity pass you by.*“
“Solid brunch menu (I had the oysters and the Eggs Benedict with a Brut Rose Champagne and the trifle for dessert). My server Corbin was very friendly and attentive. The outdoor space is cool, trendy, and hip, but not over-the-top. The music pulses, but it’s not a distraction to conversation. I’ve been looking for good places since moving to LA almost 6 months ago. This was one of the few times I wasn’t disappointed.“
“Small family business that has been serving the community for over 2 decades, at least.Small grocery storeThey carry some imported products from Russia, Eastern and Southern European countries.I think the lady is the only one that knew English, or wanted to help take my order?Good Manwiches, you will know why...The prices are okayThe Manwiches:The sandwich prices are slightly on the more expensive side in the sandwich world, but not as high as Frumebto's, and the filling is freshly sliced and on the generous side.Turkey Manwich -- The ~1 footlong sandwiches will really help give you a strong manly jaw!!!! It's a slightly tough sourdough bread. Omg, I haven't had a jaw workout in over a year but I was feeling my jaw strengthen by the time I finished eating their sandwich!!! Idk if it was just that day but the sandwich bread 100% will strengthen my jaw muscles, and I'm certain it will strengthen yours too!!! You really don't know how luxurious our food is compared to our ancestors if you haven't had to eat something tough.100% will get another sandwich!!!It's a tasty workout lolGuys, open your wallets and help support a small business, while making yourself look marginally more manly lol“
“For Love & Graze did the charcuterie boards for our wedding and they were STUNNING!!! It's not often people comment on how beautiful the food is, but this was absolutely the exception! Plus, Rona was incredible at adjusting our order to keep our guests safe and happy and at getting back to us quickly and kindly. Highly recommend Love & Graze for any and all events!“

“The description of Ike's to me made it sound like Fat Sal's and I was excited. Truth of the matter is Ike's holds its own, and it didn't disappoint. It has a great menu mixed with Meat and Veggie options. The Mrs. and I split and highly recommend the Captain Carl and the Meatless Mike (I concur "best vegan meatball in America", and Our 3 y/o gives the grilled cheese 👍👍. Our 9y/o swears it was the best grilled cheese she ever had.“
“I had such a wonderful experience at Mechta! I arrived close to closing time, but Valya and Lyena were so incredibly patient and kind. I never felt rushed; they truly encouraged me to take my time. They even went above and beyond by grabbing some natural household bar soap from behind the counter for me. I was also thrilled to find dried rosehip here—such a gem! Thank you, Valya and Lyena, for the amazing service. I’ll definitely be back!“
“Clean and well organized store. All products have proper price tags, no expired food, friendly staff and all wearing masks. I was lucky to pick up freshly baked Russian Rye bread still hot with crispy crust! Honestly, I was positively shocked! Usually Russian stores in LA are horrible, but this one is absolutely opposite. Please keep it this way.“

“Fat Sal’s Deli is not the kind of place you go to for a light meal or a careful, measured dining experience. It’s the kind of place you go to when you want food that commits fully to what it is—bold, oversized, unapologetic, and designed to be remembered long after you’ve finished eating.
From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere made its intentions clear. It’s lively, slightly chaotic in an energetic way, and filled with the kind of confidence that comes from knowing exactly what you’re offering. There’s no attempt to be subtle here. Everything about Fat Sal’s feels amplified, from the menu to the portions to the reactions of people waiting for their orders.
Ordering felt almost like making a decision with consequences—not because it’s difficult, but because everything sounds like it’s designed to be more than enough. The menu reads like a list of comfort food ideas taken to their most indulgent version, and narrowing it down becomes part of the experience itself.
When the food arrived, the first thing that stood out was the sheer scale of it. These are not modest portions, and they are not meant to be. Each item feels constructed with a sense of excess that somehow still works because it’s backed by real flavor and structure. It’s big food, but it’s also intentional food.
What surprised me most was that despite the size and intensity, the flavors were well balanced. Rich ingredients were layered in a way that didn’t feel random. There was a clear sense of composition behind each item—something that could easily be chaotic if not handled properly, but here managed to stay satisfying and coherent.
Eating at Fat Sal’s is also an experience in pacing. You don’t rush through it. The portions naturally slow you down, not because they’re heavy in a negative way, but because there’s simply a lot to take in. Each bite feels like part of a larger, ongoing experience rather than a quick meal.
The atmosphere around the dining area reflects the same energy as the food. People are clearly enjoying themselves—sometimes laughing at the size of their orders, sometimes sharing dishes, sometimes just taking a moment to process what they’ve been served. There’s a shared understanding that everyone is here for the same reason: something indulgent, satisfying, and over-the-top in the best possible way.
Service was efficient and matched the rhythm of the place. Even when it was busy, orders moved steadily, and the staff handled everything with confidence and familiarity. There’s a sense that they are used to the reactions their food gets—and that’s part of the charm.
What makes Fat Sal’s stand out is that it fully commits to its identity. It doesn’t try to be subtle, refined, or minimal. Instead, it embraces excess but still maintains enough structure and quality to make that excess enjoyable rather than overwhelming.
By the end of the meal, I realized it’s not just about the size or the novelty—it’s about the experience of going all-in on comfort food without hesitation. It’s the kind of place you remember not because it was delicate or quiet, but because it was bold, loud, and completely satisfying in its own way.
Overall, Fat Sal’s Deli delivers a dining experience that is heavy in presence, flavor, and personality. It’s indulgent, entertaining, and surprisingly well put together beneath all the excess—and it absolutely delivers on what it promises.“

“I had an issue with a ham. Sandra reached out to me and immediately offered to replace it (which is incredibly generous in my opinion). The staff were very friendly, the wait time was very short, considering it was just a few days before Christmas. The only issue was the ham (and since the pandemic, they no longer open the wrapping to show you the ham any more) so I will just make sure to check them in the future (although, I've never had an issue prior to this). Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the Northridge location for their prompt action and willingness to make sure I was happy.“
