The tall tattooed bartender working the bar was amazing. He was super welcoming, friendly, and genuinely made me feel comfortable right away. He took the time to explain the drinks, made great recommendations, and had such an easygoing personality that made the whole place feel way less intimidating.

It’s rare that someone’s service actually changes how you feel about a place, but he definitely did. I came in a little nervous and left feeling like I’d absolutely come back. Great drinks, great atmosphere, and even better hospitality.“

“After our Altadena house burned down, we relocated to Barker Block and absolutely love being so close to Manuela. We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. Their expertise is off the charts, and I highly recommend.“

“Did my popup there on a Saturday and it was super fun!!! The whole Verdugo team were slammed but kept it together and stayed super positive and welcoming. The clientele were very friendly and patient. Everyone was mingling and the DJ was doing pretty good. I need to go back and dance!“

“I don’t know why it took me 6 years to write this review… but Hermosillo really is hermoso/beautiful. I love this place. I go so often they already know my order before I even say it. That alone says everything. The service is always great, the vibe is perfect, and the food never misses. The ceviche with a golden pils is honestly all you need to be happy once… or 2 or 3 times a week 😂

Only funny thing is when the new bartender asks me for my ID every other day and I’m like “y’all are about 6 years too late asking me now” lol.

“We went in search of the @losdoradosla truck and found it parked in front of La Cuevita. We ventured in at around 6p and discovered that it was still Happy Hour. My husband ordered an Old Fashion and said it was one of the best he’s ever had. I ordered a specialty vodka drink and it was refreshing. We’re definitely going back soon with friends!“

I dont know why so many 1 star reviews complaning and comparing to the old way Jonhnnys bar under that management tables were filthy weird smell, bar top sticky and drinks were cheap but taste horrible. “Hungry Bird is new in town, and I’m lucky enough to live just a few blocks away. This was my first visit, and I loved it! Everything looked and tasted delicious. They have chicken, beef, seafood, and pork skewers, plus noodles and sushi rolls. I came for the skewers, and I’d definitely come back to try more.

“A go-to small bar to watch any major event. I live down the street and this spot has cemented itself as a staple of the community for such events. Staff are friendly, 3 restrooms, plus separate stalls for men, the place is constantly being watched for empty beer bottles/trash. I've enjoyed my visits here ☺

The outdoor area is covered by a huge tree that gives plenty of shade. On top of that, the place isn't noisy unless it's a weekend night.“

“Recently celebrated my partner's (surprise) birthday at The Goldfish and the night couldn't have gone any better. We had EXCEPTIONAL service in their new private party space. I was able to order food in party sized platters and my custom requests (they personalized a Happy Birthday sign!) were all executed with perfect attention to detail. The ambience and food I already knew is a 10/10 as I frequent Sticky Rice. The security guard follows the rules but still made me feel welcome so I respect that. She allowed me to come in but I couldn't buy alcohol.Bartenter was polite. “This place is narrow but an absolute gem of a place for live fairly intimate music performances. The sound system is great, the service even better, and the crowd very fun. It's also incredibly convenient to get to via train from Union Station so you really kinda have zero excuse if you get a DUI.

Not sure how the table situation works but I'm assuming you have to get there early to score one or at the bar. Otherwise it's standing room only with a few loose stools toward the rear atrium section.

The only true but minor inconvenience is the having to swipe/pay for every drink purchase. I get the why but the service and drink options make up for it.“

“I've been to D14 easily over 15 times. Whether its just for a beer, food, or both it is always a great time. Vibes and atmosphere are great. Amazing food and drink options. The owner and staff are all very welcoming and open environment, the art changes every few months to highlight local artists. I've even hosted birthday gatherings with over 20 people, and everyone has loved it. Great spot to go solo or in a group. 10/10 would recommend!“

“My brother and I biked from Santa Ana to the Dodger stadium. We wanted some quick beers before we took the metro link back home. Cam took care of us, we had great beers, good hummus, and an interesting conversation. Too bad we were on a rush to get to the train, else we would have stayed longer. Coming from Orange County, LA always surprises me with places like this, definitely recommend this place if you are traveling from LA to OC.“

Fun place to go with friends and play some retro cabinet games and other games I'm sure you haven't heard of. The pinball games are awesome. Would like to see more pinball games be added. More games and tables going to the back of the building. Restroom located in the middle(heading towards the back) Clean dining areas. Real Awesome Bartenders! Great beer/liquor/spirits/wine variety. Order at the bar, they'll give you a number and you can just choose a table. Super full when I went but the vibes were great. Awesome music and atmosphere. Good luck with Parking 🤞“

“This is a really neat historic spot, a craftsman home bulit in the 1800's in S. Pasadena repurposed into a restaurant. The vibe is cozy and welcoming. It's like your meeting with friends at someone's home but with professional service, where everyone can just relax and enjoy each other's company. My first visit was with a few girlfriends years ago for their happy hour which runs m-f, from 4-6pm. Since then I've come back for their brunch, and recently dinner. All visits have been memorable and exceptional all around.
They are known for their craft cocktails. My friend had to drink called Latina Medicina and substituted vodka for tequila. It was a citrusy, refreshing drink, beautifuly presented with a large square ice cube, which apparently takes 3 days to make. My husband had the Alien Pool Party cocktail, also refreshing and very fun! We had a lot of laughs with that one. So if you've never been here and are looking for something different, then I recommend you give him a try.“
