“I came across Playa Provisions when in town for business. It was a short Uber from the airport, so I figured I'd give it a try. This place is an absolute gem! It is a unique setup that has everything you'd possibly need from morning until late at night: Cafe in the front for coffee and fresh baked good, as well as full breakfast menu. Later in the heat of the afternoon, take a break from the beach (right across the street) and enjoy hand scooped specialty ice cream cones and shakes. Oh look, it's dinner time... and Playa Provisions opens their dining room and bar, some of the best, most relaxed ambience you'll find for miles around. But don't let the casual setting fool you, this is some incredible, elevated cuisine. Chef owners Nick and Brooke (who you might recognize) crafted a menu that's I've been eating my way through, and have yet to find a dish that's not delicious. You've been eating and drinking all day, and are exhausted? Don't leave yet! Wander into the back 'secret' whiskey bar, (Grain Whiskey Bar) and enjoy hand crafted cocktails from award winning bartenders (no, literally), in a gorgeous wood laden atmosphere. I consider myself a foodie, and try as many different restaurants and cuisines as I can. And yet, Playa Provisions remains my favorite restaurant in LA (and that's saying something, considering the amazing places in LA). Run, don't walk, to Playa Provisions. You'll thank me.“

“Last time I went I had the fior de latte, pistachio, hazelnut flavors which are absolutely amazing. They have so many interesting seasonal flavors like tiramisu, peach, truffle, and even rhubarb. Its amazing the amount of international presence in the ice cream. All natural ingredients, nothing artificial, everything tastes so organic, smooth, and exactly like the base flavor. And the owners are so charming and hard working. However, it is VERY expensive for ice cream, id go back everyday if 3 scoops and waffle cone wasnt almost 20 bucks. I understand it is because everything is to the highest standard and super amazing quality, unfortunately the price is just very high. So all in all, amazing treat, amazing place, with high price tag.“

“Getting their ice cream truck at our office backyard and it’s warm sunny day so perfect timing! Plenty of flavors to choose from, which was basically different mix-ins blended with the vanilla soft serve base. They did offer chocolate one.

I went for the Hokey Pokey as I loved honeycomb and simply couldn’t resist that crunchy toppings! The order’s ready in a blink and there were several attendants serving at the same time so despite all of us tried to be there at similar time, we got our ice cream quickly!

“Honestly, I was skeptical looking at the menu choice. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and experiment. I played it safe, but was still highly impressed. I tried the honey lavender and coffee and love nuts, it was phenomenal highly recommend please try do not judge. The irony is the honey and lavender has notes of some tea flavor that I could not put my finger on, but it paired well with the coffee.“

“We had the good fortune of stumbling across Moom Maam gelato when deciding on someone to cater our company's summer event. The flavors were delicious and many were options that you really can't find anywhere else. Their homemade waffle crisp was a surprise hit as well (and gluten free!), and with several vegan options, they were a caterer that truly could have a little something for people regardless of diet restrictions. And despite the whopping number of flavors they brought (15!!) the lines moved along at a good clip--managing to serve hundreds within 2 hours--and the portions were generous.“

I’m usually a creature of habit here. I know what I’m getting before I even arrive. I’ll sample the seasonal and the oddball flavors for fun, but nine times out of ten, I end up right where the tourists do. Honey Lavender on a sugar cone. Locked in. No notes.

This visit, I was sampling as usual when a team member offered me a flavor and thoughtfully let me know it contained trace amounts of alcohol. I appreciated the heads-up. I took the sample, said “thank you, that’s fine,” then jokingly added that I was only 92 days sober and chuckled. The look on her face was of nervousness. I immediately told her it was a joke, and she carried on with assisting me.

In hindsight, I felt a little bad for putting her in that moment, but what stood out was how professionally and kindly she handled it. She stayed composed, respectful, and warm the entire time.

That kind of response says a lot, not just about her, but about the team culture at this location.

Sampling here always feels welcoming, never rushed, never awkward, even when customers deliberately make things… momentarily awkward.

“I am usually not the type to write a review, but the service that Sebastian provided was top tier. Sebastian allowed us to sample some products and provided some creative suggestions when it came to combination like a peanut butter and jelly like option when it came to gelato. He was extremely patient with me as I made chose a flavor or gelato to take home and even promoted the points system when imputing our phone number before purchasing it. His service alone is 5 stars alone and the products that were sold were extremely delicious as well, I am looking forward to trying more flavors and running into him again for more suggestions he comes across of.“

“I came here to say, I have never heard of this brand before but last night while shopping at my local Jay C (kroger), I stumbled across the Gluten free Gooey Butter cake ice cream and i’m so very glad I did!!! it’s delicious!!!! “Bacio Di Latte is now my go to for good pistachio ice cream. Many pistachio ice creams have that off-putting minty/cherry flavor from almond extract. But not Bacio di latte. It's subtly sweet and creamy from the milk and wonderfully enhanced by the nutty flavor from pistachio. Does melt a little quickly than your normal ice cream, however. :)“

“I have lived in Manhattan Beach for over 20 years and yesterday I had maybe the best customer service experience EVER in my life. I was not able to get the young man’s name but I have this picture here that he let me take. This young man was so warm and hospitable towards everyone who walked in the store. He was very patient with me and all my sampling requests which was probably annoying because I came at a busy time, but his positive attitude never wavered. His smile lit up my day and made my ice cream taste even sweeter than it already was! I loved my experience with that young man so much that I might only get ice cream from salt in straw from now on! He also gives the best scoops, filled with a lot of joy… and ice cream as well, so request him if you can. “My friend put me on to yogurt gelato and she said this place’s version matches to what she had in Italy! It’s like a froyo taste but a fluffy and creamy version. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of coffee, hazelnut, or pistachio, there’s still something for you here.

I also got the crema torino (hazelnut experience), which is a little less sweet than its pistachio counterpart. I don’t think they have a single flavor that isn’t a hit. A lot of the flavors are similar, so just sample the ones you are curious about if you want to figure out the difference because there usually is a subtle one! This location is smaller than the one in Beverly Hills but with the same cute interior and fantastic service. While it can be a little pricey, it’s honestly not any more expensive than any of the other dessert spots in the area and they cram an extremely generous portion into the cup.“
