“Ate there for the first time yesterday and can't wait to go back. We're vegetarian but had no trouble finding incredible offerings. The mushroom/leek risotto was the best I've had. The sweet corn tamale appetizers were surprising and flavorful, and the grilled avocado tostados fabulous! On beautiful grounds with fresh produce growing beside the restaurant. Staff was friendly and efficient. Just a great experience!“

“We had an amazing dinner here tonight. It was a busy Friday evening, but the manager found us a place to sit at the bar within about 10 minutes, and apologized for the wait (which was totally unnecessary). I had the surf and turf daily special and my wife had the filet medallions. We shared the butterscotch pudding for dessert, which I would highly recommend. The staff was attentive and the kitchen cooked our steaks to perfection. Highly recommend eating here if you’re in St. Helena“

“They really have their service down. The staff was extremely attentive in an unobtrusive way, on top of being personable. Truly no notes on the service. The dining room atmosphere was decent. My only complaint is the bathroom location makes it feel disjointed from the restaurant (totally nitpicking there). I heard they are trying to get a michelin star, given the price point, and that the dishes were for the most part tweaked/elevated versions of classic dishes, I don't think the food was quite consistently excellent enough to get there. I think they are reasonably close. The crab pasta course was overwhemed a bit by the red pepper sauce it was a touch too acidic which competed with the flavor of the crab. the cheese desert seemed a little simplistic, and they weren't interesting enough to make up for the simplicity. The tuna carpaccio, while very tastey and well balance flavorwise, didn't highlight the tuna which was lightly seared, muting the flavor, and making it not feel like a tuna carpaccio dish. The duck was well cooked, but all the seasoning was in the sauce making it you you had to get the ratio of duck to sauce right for the seasoning to work. Ideally it would have been more evenly distributed. I think they could also use a little work on portion size. The carpaccio, and rissoto were a bit too big.
All of these details are very nitpicky, and we had a very nice evening, but if they want to get to that next level, I think these details need more attention.“

The "open kitchen" concept feels a little too close for me, but you definitely know your food is on the way.Staff is very friendly and helpful. They were always present and on top of helping us with water, coffee and our food.“

“10 out of 10 recommend if in Napa. Symptomatic celiac wife and they offered nearly entire menu, including several desserts, are or can be made gluten free. Burrata with roasted peppers, crispy artichoke, and king salmon. Caramelized banana split for dessert. All were excellent. Amazing ambience—art gallery, chandeliers, huge fire places, live trees with lights, glass atrium ceiling. Service was friendly, attentive, and quick! Waiter even phoned our hotel when it was time for shuttle to come pick us up. Well done, RH.“

“My sister and I met up for a vegetarian dinner and we found Gatehouse Restaurant to be fantastic! The menu had enough options to choose exactly 4 (mix and match) entrees(vegetarian/vegan only). Each entree was outstanding, flavor pairing was ingenious. “We decided to stop for lunch in downtown Yountville. We ordered two cheeseburgers (my husband's burger was a double), fries to share and two drinks. The food was fresh and delicious. But we were sticker shocked by the price. It ended up being $70! The staff were also not very friendly. The atmosphere was small and cozy (best suited for 1-2 people). Overall it was a fun afternoon but probably would only go on special occasions as tbe price point is high.“

“We are visiting from the Philly area and found ourselves at Jack London two nights in a row. The bartender, Ian, was excited to see us back and had lots of recommendations for the area.
