“I am tourist here and this was the nearest sushi place near my Airbnb.
Food as good, the girl who served me was not warm at all. The moment I walked in she looked confused if she should serve me or not maybe because I was alone.
I loved the food. Green tea ice cream not so much. I wanted a bottle of water to take back to my Airbnb but they didn’t have any which is fine. I asked the girl where can I find a bottle of water near by “she said I don’t know” I paid my tab and walked out and saw hundreds of stores who sell bottle of water . Being a tourist I would have appreciated a little courtesy of just saying “ hey you can get water down the street” I wasn’t asking for much. But anyways I am glad I tipped her only $3.“

“A disclaimer, these reviews are always hard for me: because when I come here, I usually come with people who are familiar with the restaurant and employees. For context, I’m a Chinese woman with family connections and I can speak cantonese. It makes the experience easier and faster. I’m not so sure if I just spoke English, how great the service is. “I went to the location on 73rd Ave and uggghhhhh im so happy I did!!! I got a steak and shrimp burrito and that yum yum sauce is DELICIOUS (a little watery but still delicious)!! If you wanna try something different with a lil Asian flare this is it!!! I can eat those veggies all day!!!

“Mala Town is hands down one of the best spots for Sichuan dry pot in Union City! You get to pick your own ingredients and spice level, and they stir-fry everything to perfection with that addictive numbing-spicy mala flavor. Portions are generous, perfect for sharing, and prices are fair for the quality.

The medium spice has a nice kick, but if you love heat, go for the higher levels—it’s legit spicy! Service is quick and friendly, and the restaurant has a clean, modern vibe. Definitely a go-to place if you’re craving bold flavors and want a fun, shareable meal.“

I got the soup and it was just right amount of jalapeños for the spice. I lobe the simplistic it had, but it was still tasty ?
I also tried the island poke dish and it was very delicious as well.
I like how you have options for the rice or a salad base, or both.

“My friend and I came here and ate at the counter downstairs. I really enjoyed the Filipino fusion plate we got. It was delicious and tasted like I was at my auntie’s house, but with an elevated twist.

We then took our drinks and went upstairs. We played games that were available and then listened to folks sing karaoke. We works up the nerve to sing ourselves.

It looked like there was an extra room for private parties.

“I saw the ratings and didn't know what to expect. Brought my family here to avoid the Berkely Parents' Weekend crowds. I was so pleasantly surprised the quality of the food and service. The roti is so fresh - perfectly crispy and chewy. The spices on the food and house coconut dipping sauce offered so much flavor - we were all blown away. Our kids loved the Thai Tea. Accomodates vegan taste buds and all other dietary preferences.“

But what impressed me even more than the food tonight was the thoughtfulness of the gentleman working. They closed at 11:30 pm (bless them for being the only vegan, organic food in the area open that late) and was cutting it close to get there before closing time. When I arrived 1 or 2 minutes after 11:30, I was worried that I had missed my opportunity and screwed up, but no - a thoughtful young man was literally standing in front of the restaurant with my order, waiting for me. He definitely didn’t have to do that - service is way above and beyond - 20/10! That wonderful young man saved me after I hadn’t eaten all day and couldn’t find anything vegan open late, I’m so grateful. <3

We started with some happy hour cocktails and some apps and soup - the mushroom app was incredible, the tom yum soup was good. The Massaman is crave worthy as I have now had this several times and each time, it doesn't disappoint and you can ask for whatever spice level you can manage. “We initially tried to come here on a Friday at 7 PM but there seemed to be a long wait so we decided to check it out on a Wednesday and we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. This location was originally a Taco Bell, but I love the atmosphere there, friendly, good service and comforting food! It's a cozy place perfect for a cold wintry day to have your own little boiling hot pot of tasty broth and hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Hubby ordered the Lau Pork Bone Marrow and I had the Lau Oxtail. I ordered the Oxtail without the tripe, just more oxtail! The hot pot came out boiling with oxtail and beef balls. All I had to do was cook the egg noodles, taro, tofu, cabbage, veggies into the soup as there was plenty of delicious oxtail and meat balls in the delicious broth! Great for a bone chilling night! Next time I'd love to try the shaken beef!“

“Cool place (love the decor/style), nice staff & tasty food. Some dishes you will not find in the average Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. For example, the chef or owner is from northern Thailand so the menu features a top Northern Thai dish - Kao Soi noodle soup (beef or chicken), or the all time fav 'street food' grilled pork skewers (moo ping) served with sticky rice (ck out the menu on their website). I had the Pad Kemao Chicken (menu says beef but they are happy to make dishes with what you like & even have Beyond Meat dishes on the menu - cool to see stir fried basil with Beyond Meat (Krapao Beyond Neur)). The taste of my wok fried pad kemao was delicious, same or better than any I've had on prior trips to Bangkok. Glad to have discovered a solid Thai restaurant that doesn't have watered down flavors. Good to see they have a lot of gluten free and vegan choices on the menu too. Definitely will be back, keep up the good work!“

You can tell they care about their craft. Ive had delivery and the food is still amazing. You know delivery sometimes reduces the quality of the food.“

“I rarely eat in here, but when I do I enjoy the atmosphere and service. Much more frequently, I do take out, and it is always great. The ingredients taste fresh and perfectly seasoned, and it is always on time. HB is probably my favorite spot for take out in Oakland.“

“Delicious and explosive flavor vegan hot pot. We got the spicy Sichuan Spicy and Mushroom broths. For the veggies, we bought Fried Beancurd Rolls, Fried Tofu Pods, Pumpkin, Broccoli, Bamboo Shoots. For noodles we had Udon and House Ramen which were both quite tasty. They have a self service sauce bar as well where you get whatever add ins you may need for your broth or extras.

The atmosphere was definitely busy as there were lots of guests but everyone seemed to be getting their food quickly.

Pricing is a bit more on the higher side so be expecting that, but it's definitely worth it!

Compared to other locations, I’d say the Alameda location is among the better ones I have visited over the years. Even though the location is fairly new, opening this past year, it’s helped heightened my expectations of Marugame locations. I highly recommend coming here and ordering the Gyudon!“
