“Stopped by for lunch at 2pm and plenty of seating inside. I used the self order kiosk on the table, which made ordering a breeze. The sushi rolls came out in about 8-10 minutes and they were huge rolls.

I typically eat two, but I coule barely finish these. They were incredibly filling and each roll was less than $12, which is a great deal in 2024. Service was excellentand I really enjoyed the meal. I get work done on my car across the street often, so i'll be stopping by whenever i'm in the area from now on.

Parking: It seems like there are about 12 or so spots, but also plenty of parjing along E.14th in front of the restaurant, as well as the side street which crosses it.

Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of access for wheelchairs.“

“Im not a salad guy, but my wife loves salad.

Picked up a salad today from Green and Grains and boy was I surprised at the portion! 1 salad was enough for my wife and myself; with leftovers for later!

Got to speak to Ian for a little bit and was surprised that all the ingredient are organic and locally sourced. Including the pickled onions being made in house!

For a guy who doesn’t eat salads, I would say the Asian chicken was the best salad I’ve ever had!

Going to try their sandwiches on the next visit!

Had the pleasure of talking to one of the owners for awhile, and he told us a lot about the food and his + his partner’s connection to it/the restaurant/Cambodia. “I’ve been coming here for 7+ years and the food has always been high quality, delicious, and well portioned. Can’t go wrong with their salads and recently I’ve learned the paninis are fantastic as well. I will say it’s good to order online and pickup, and leave a little time buffer as they can get pretty busy over the lunch rush. The staff can get really busy but they’ve always been helpful and courteous.“

“I study right across the street, so I’ve been eyeing this place and its momo for a while. Well… curiosity officially cured. The momo was a solid C—, like the grade you get when you show up to class but don’t really try. I ordered the mixed ones, steamed, and the dough was a bit chewy and torn.The portion was big, the filling was so mysterious I couldn’t even tell what I was chewing—could’ve been chicken, could’ve been my hopes and dreams.

It’s a narrow shopfront with just a few tables outside and it’s easy to miss as you ponder ice cream and other offerings from neighbors. Well, take it from me – forget ice cream and get a baked item from Summer Kitchen instead! Or try a pizza, or an egg salad sandwich – possibly the best egg salad sandwich you’ll ever have. But if you are limited for time, try one of the fresh fruit pastries (galette) – they seem expensive at $12 but they are big enough for two and totally worth it! I’m giving Summer Kitchen 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. The positives are obvious – most of the ingredients are organic and locally sourced. Everything is made from scratch and there is transparent sourcing of the meat and fish (Mary’s free-range chicken, etc.). There are a reasonable amount of vegetarian options and you can definitely find some vegan dishes too (salads, sandwich, pasta). Summer Kitchen could make the biggest environmental impact by scrapping beef from the menu – replacing it with plant-based alternatives, ideally. Beef has a carbon footprint of around 10 times that of chicken and over 100 times that of pea protein, on average. If everyone one the planet ate 1 lb. of beef per week (the US average), total greenhouse gas emissions would increase by one third! I’ll write a post illustrating all of this soon on the Green Stars Project. So I really appreciate that Summer Kitchen makes more effort than the vast majority of restaurants on improving sustainability so that’s my suggestion for the biggest opportunity for improvement – cut the beef.“

Oori exceeded all my happy food requirements and then took me for a ride through food blissfulness worth each bite. I had chicken teriyaki, grilled salmon, and spicy tuna triangles. On the side, I complimented it with miso soup and ginger. Each flavor was distinct and made my taste buds ooh, ahh, and wow for more. I'll be back here for more without question.
