“This is my go-to place for boba. I enjoy their variety. I normally have the taro with Almond milk, strawberry popping Boba and lychee jelly. It brings back childhood memories of strawberry milk. I also like the pineapple tea and the lemon one. However, I'm caffeine sensitive so I try to avoid them late in the day so that I can sleep. The inside is clean. I have never ordered food from here so I can't speak to that. I like that they have a stand where you can put in your own order and add your own extras.“

“I recently visited Juice Breeze in El Sobrante, California and it’s easily one of the best spots in the Bay Area for fresh smoothies, açai bowls, and unique desserts. From the moment you walk in, the place feels inviting, clean, and full of options that are both refreshing and delicious.

We started with their lemon mint smoothie, which was light, fresh, and perfect for the California weather. The flavors were balanced and it really hit the spot. Next, we tried the mini pancakes with toppings like Biscoff, Nutella, and pistachio—absolutely amazing. I believe there is a rotating selection of flavors and the time I went, want too blown away by the options but I did walk away getting great service and a generous helping. I am eager to come back and give it another try. Great how convenient it is to Rockridge station!“

“We visited from across the country, and this was our first visit to any of The Yard's locations. Sean was a bright spark in the place. They were just beautifully kind, and incredibly helpful. We went in for the milkshakes and they were very good, all the flavors, it was difficult to decide. I got the Pecan Turtle, which was so rich and good. We also ended up getting some cookie dough to bring back home (in our checked bag, which made it home beautifully after talking to Sean about if he thought it would work). The dough was also sooooo good! I think that there is something different about the dairy products in the PNW versus the South East, it's richer, and perhaps fresher. I definitely recommend this location, especially if you're lucky enough to see Sean 💙“

“Wow, It’s been 20 years, since I stepped foot on to Fosters Freeze. This well respected fine dine in establishment, aged well like fine wine. Service is rapidly/ friendly. Food portions is enormous and prices are very reasonable. Any residents that live in West Contra Costa County towns. Come by and give this place a shot.“

“this soft serve truck is so cute and serves the best soft serve by far, with housemade chocolate sauce that hardens to a nice crunch on the ice cream. the addition of salt on it makes the perfect balance. the red truck has such a personality and the folks who work it are always so fun to chat with. and it's local! they even have a teeny tiny cone for kids and the seal is hand painted :) the line can get long, but I promise it's worth it!“

And that comes from over a year of experience living and traveling in Italy! Besides the beautiful architecture and interior design of Passione Caffè—not to mention its convenient location next to Downtown Berkeley BART—I would like to point out some highlights on the menu. The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and made-to-order sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! The spaghetti with meatballs, their only Americanized dish, is to die for! The pizzas also are also made with home-made dough and gluten-free options are offered. Try one with fresh prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula! The fresh panini with Italian meats and cheeses round out the lunch menu. It is possible to have a filling lunch for $7-15, which is definitely reasonably priced by Berkeley standards! A serious final highlight was the artisanal gelato, made in-house by the Italian co-owner, Eleanora Cercatore. There are 12 flavors, weekly made with gluten-free options, that are displayed on a beautiful rotating wheel. The gelato is spectacularly tasty—I cannot recommend it highly enough! “Fantastic ice cream! We had the Kauai Pie, which is Kona Coffee, Chocolate Fudge, Macadamia Nuts and Chunks of coconut. Extremely yummy! A scoop as of June 2024 is $6, and it’s pretty large.

The sitting is by a busy road so not the most romantic.“

“This is purely a review of their food - I'm not about to judge them on the space since they're kinda in a parking lot. I've had their food a few times, and I usually start on my meal about 5 mins after I got it from them. This is kind of a factor for burgers and fries...

...And they are excellent! Their burgers are solid, and very reasonably priced. I like Jack in the Box, but if I'm paying $8-10 on a nice burger from either place, Fosters Freeze is by far the better choice. Minimal grease or salt, doesn't make me want to run and grab a salad afterwards - yeah, these guys are legit!

As for fries, I'd rate them as pretty good overall, but you can't go wrong with their waffle fries - so good that I'm tempted to go back just to order only those!
