“Meh. My expectations weren't high but it's a beautiful restaurant and not crowded. Ordered one bowl of ramen and a side of rice. After 20 mins of waiting I was shocked that the ramen was lukewarm. So sad! Obviously ate it but not once was approached by staff for a fork, or a refill or even the bill. Had to stand at the front podium and wait to be given the bill. I'm sure people like this place. I've been to better and won't come back here.“

“This is the ramen place you are craving. My sister and I have been in search for some great ramen since our previous fav place changed owners. Haha is absolutely positively amazing in every way. Our roll was so fresh and the squid balls were hot and yummy! THE RAMEN. Spicy garlic tonkatsu, my oh MY. The broth is so rich, every bite was infused! The perfect balance of spicy and savory! The people are so incredibly kind and attentive. The atmosphere, affordable prices, portions, flavors 10/10.“

“They expanded their menu. Great Korean dishes as well as Japanese sushi roll. This place is great quality and probably the best priced compared to neighboring sushi restaurants. Their Korean BBQ plate is better than Mama Cho's that used to be in Castro Valley. This is the only good Korean food restaurant in Castro Valley. The sushi rolls are wonderful as well as their ramen. This place is a must try.“

“It’s so nice that there’s an actual Japanese-owned ramen shop in this part of inland Contra Costa County. Usually, your average suburban ramen shop (like the Ramen 101 chains) is owned by Chinese or Koreans. They’re not bad per se but the ramen they serve is not Japanese.
I knew this place was authentic because of their noodles: their tonkotsu ramen has the thin, firm white noodle normally seen in Hakata-style bowls, whereas the Yuzu Shoyu comes with the classic, wavy egg noodles. It’s a nice touch that shows they are serious about serving good ramen.
Chashu is delicious….its slightly smokey from being torched but it also falls apart in your mouth. It’s also thicker than your average chashu slice.
Tonkotsu broth is creamy and rich, without being too salty. It’s also balanced with the addition of pickled ginger.
The Yuzu-shoyu on the other hand, is more savory and tart, with a good amount of spice from sansho (Japanese Sichuan pepper).
Service was good and straightforward. I’d come back again when I’m craving real ramen but don’t want to cross the tunnel.“
