Ramen Restaurants in San Francisco, CA

“Mensho is definitely not worth the wait in my opinion. The line is usually 45min-1hr long. Coupled with the fact that parking is hard to find and the restraunt is tiny and cramped, you are better off going to marufuku or hinodeya.

I had the spicy GKO. Compared to the other garlic ramen I have had in ramenagi this was ok. The chasu is belly slices like marufuku and not the spiral rolled belly cross section which I prefer since it falls apart more easily.

They don't give you a lot of toppings on the ramen. There is no ajitama or menma in the default. Given that the price point is higher than other sf ramens this doesn't seem like value for money.

Clearly other people disagree since there is a line out the door but also the restraunt is tiny so this could be artificial scarcity and the insta hype cycle.“

“Best ramen ever. Love that they offer gluten-free noodles, soo yummy. Friendly staff and quick service. Menu is simple but enough to share. Omg dessert is the best !!! Ube (purple yams) soft serve is out of this world !! and rice pudding 😋“

“Tsukemen is so good here! I wish there was a way to heat up the broth again when it cools down, but the flavor is really great and delicious.

Had the same flight as well, but at this point I think I might just stick with seasonal sake or the sake of the day.

I came around 5pm and there was no wait. It seems to get busy though so your mileage at vary.“

Try the Chicken Paitan Soy Sauce ramen—hands down the best ramen I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The balance of flavors is absolutely perfect. I went to bed without brushing my teeth just so I could savor them all night 🤪“

“Taniku Izakaya is a great spot for skewers and a solid casual night out. I really liked the spicy scallop hand rolls and the takoyaki, and the food overall was worth the wait. It does get busy, and there was a line since reservations are only for a couple tables, but we only waited about 20–30 minutes. The vibe was lively, and everything felt well worth it.“

“A fantastic ramen spot in the Sunset with a unique twist! Unlike the classic pork-based broth spots, they specialize in flavorful beef broths with a great variety of options. We tried both the tomato-based and the spicy ramen. While the tomato one was just okay and wouldn't be my top pick, the spicy beef-broth ramen was absolute perfection. Don't skip the crispy mushrooms as a starter, they are a must-try“

“Ever since I started traveling to SF for work a couple of years ago this has been my go to ramen spot. I've made it a personal tradition at this point to eat here whenever I'm in town.

“This palce is a certain of community and history on Bernal Heights. Old friends come in to greetings of hugs and kisses from the staff. New patrons are welcomed in almost equal fashion! The food and vibe is hearty and made with love. No Reservations. Come over, put you name down, but you can enjoy wine or beer from a freat ludt inside or outsides as you wait. Shhh!!! Don't tell anyone else.“

“Great ramen spot. Beware, the spicy edamame is pretty spicy 🥵. I had the beef rice bowl with the spicy miso ramen. The ramen was not nearly as spicy as the edamame. We arrived 45 minutes before closing time but they still took care of us. The beef was tender and a little sweet. I would definitely recommend. The ambiance was nice and my family also enjoyed it. My wife let me try her chicken karaage, it was delicious.“

“Went here for lunch right as they opened. Absolutely amazing for counter serve ramen. It comes in a plastic bowl and you have to eat it with a tiny plastic spoon, but it's like 90-95% as tasty as the full Mensho restaurants in SF and Oakland.

If you want lamb in your ramen like me, I recommend getting one of the lamb varieties, rather than adding lamb to the regular ramen as I did (my mistake, can't fault the store for this). It kind of overpowers the other flavors, but was still amazing.

I wish you could get beer or sake here, but for lunch ramen, this place can't be beaten.“

“Paloma the host was so kind and even accommodated our stroller with a toddler when she sat us at the restaurant. The server Zay was so knowledgeable of their products and promotions. He was patient with all of our questions. The manager with shoulder length hair absolutely knew the history of the restaurant's locations and even the recent opening in Texas within the past two year. The food was AMAZING!!! We are coming back again!“

“Our hostess Jolly was pleasant and friendly! The service was impeccable and the food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! We are from the East coast and this restaurant was on par with some of the best restaurants in New York City. It's difficult to find a clean, quiet, premium hotel on site of an airport with an equally top notch restaurant. The Hyatt is the place to stay at SFO and enjoy a great dining experience at Quail & Crane! We will be back!“

“All the food is delicious and the place is nice and cozy. I would highly recommend for anyone willing to try Thai food in the area.

There was this ‘chili dipped in oil‘ which was included as a side along with hot sauce. We liked it so much that we ordered just the chili sauce. They were planning to sell this as a packaged food in near future and we happened to be the first customers for that item.“

“Tried Miki Japanese on Balboa and it was a good experience. Friendly staff and efficient service along with a casual ambiance. The chirashi bowl had fresh fish with seasoned rice, nicely portioned and balanced. The salmon teriyaki and mixed tempura bento was also solid — the salmon was cooked well with a flavorful glaze, and the tempura was crisp without being oily. The bento sides rounded out the meal well. Overall, a good spot for Japanese food in the neighborhood.“

“I finally tried this place out after some years. I’ve wanted to for some time but they close early at 5:30. I usually eat ramen at night, too bad they don’t stay open for dinner.

I came upon this random spot on Google, read the reviews & skimmed the menu. looked pretty damn good based on our personal ramen preferences. my wife ordered the black garlic oil ramen. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen. we both are very picky with our ramen - we like our broth rich, salty, creamy & flavorful. and let me tell you, coming from the east coast / NJ / NYC (we have great ramen spots there) - AFTER HOURS RAMEN TOTALLY DELIVERED 200%. I could not stress enough to my wife how satisfied I was with our meal today. oh & they had some nice 2000s hip hop/pop/r&b music playing during our lunch. loved it.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you're in the SF area. located couple blocks from ocean beach so you can walk off your food.

“The server was so nice and the food came out after 10 mins of ordering and the food was good and good portions. Recommended to get a drink of you're ordering food and apps. Cozy place in Geary. Loved the flavor on the K.O. ramen and the Kobe Ramen. The Curry Lamb rice plate was also pretty delicious.“

“reasonably priced ramen. The food was really good. The tonkatsu broth was excellent and went well with the pork. My daughter had the chicken ramen which was a little overcooked but still tasty. My other daughter had the veggie tofu with mild spice. Mild was still pretty spicy so avoid if your sensitive to spicy food. Overall we were pleased and will return.“

“I’ve been coming to this restaurant for around 15 years during every single visit to San Francisco. I brought my husband 9 years ago during our honeymoon. This time we brought our 8 year old. We were so excited to share this amazing restaurant with him. The ramen is so flavorful and has body in the broth. I will always return to this restaurant during any visit to San Francisco.
