Restaurantji's Santa Margarita recommendations for the finest Mexican cuisine.
“Enjoyed this sweet little spot more than I anticipated. Enjoyed a Cinnamon brown sugar coffee, house specialty, and it was incredibly flavorful; I'm going to try to replicate it at home; such a great twist on my usual drip coffee. Staff was very friendly & hospitable and brought the drink to the table which I appreciate - few spots do that these days. Music was lovely and in the background, not too loud, and had a sweet Latino flair to match the cafe. Sat in a light-filled window seat and started my day perfectly. I didn't order breakfast but they had a beautiful little menu with a lot of hot selections which seemed very substantial - breakfast tortas, quesadillas and burritos.“
“This is a really cute place. The owner of Susy stopped and chatted with me as I was sitting outside. Her son who was behind the grill did an amazing job. It’s hard to find healthy food when you travel, but here I found an amazing vegetarian burrito that was grilled to perfection. Full of tomato, lettuce, onions, avocado, beans, and rice. It was delicious and filling And healthful!“
“Stopping through on a trip back to town and wow ? best taqueria I’ve ever had and Mexican style food is my absolute favorite. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Great service and very clean establishment. Can’t wait to come back next road trip.“
“We had the pleasure of having them cater our son's college graduation in May 2022. From start to finish, Fermin was a pleasure to work with. The prices were fare and straight forward. Fermin was very responsive and accommodating when I had questions or wanted to add additional items to our order. On the day of the celebration, they arrived with plenty of food and a friendly staff. When finished, they packaged all the leftovers in containers they provided and cleaned up nicely. Thank you so much for helping to make the celebration a success and memorable!“
“We stopped here while driving by, hungry for a late breakfast. We enjoyed our hot coffee very much while sitting outside on clean good furniture. I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and grilled potatoes, my husband had the pork chops and eggs. So delicious! And portions were a good size. The restroom/toilet was very clean too.“
“Located in the Public Market, the food there was good and tasty, though the quesadilla was bit oily. All in all it was a good meal and recommended to try. You order at the reception desk then you are paged to get your order. The staff were friendly and “
“Great spot in Atascadero. They are fairly new and took over the old Burrito Express location. Though they have the same menu I was told they are not affiliated. Ordering through their web site or app "from the restaurant" is super easy. I had a chile relleno burrito and it was delicious! Came back two weeks later for another. This time I also ordered a carnitas burrito for my Gramma. She loved it. Not too many places in the north county to rave about when it comes to Mexican food but this place has not disappointed. Another important thing is the prices. Very reasonable!! I have paid much more for much worse. Staff is friendly. Inside the restaurant is a big space for dining and attached they have a banquet room that can be rented for parties! Congratulations to the new owners I wish you much success! Can't wait to come back and try another dish.“
“Absolutely a delicious ala carte Chili Relleno. The sauce was delicious, temperature hot and put some of the mild salsa (green) in with the red sauce for the Chips. Enjoyed immensely. Only thing missing is the shredded Iettuce and orange twist that restaurants put on as a side garnish which I really like and makes it a prettier plate presentation.“
“So what is going to happen now the Rossi is going remove the parking lot at La Esquina Taqueria? He's going to build 34 stack & pack apartments soon, there will be no more parking at the Creamery anymore and there'll be a noise control because they'll be residents living there too. I mean what is Rob Rossi thinking by hurting business like this? I remember this location used to be Tortilla Flats and it was always crowded and a great location but I can just see it now all gone. It is shameful what these downtown business owners are doing especially Rossi“
“My granddaughter keeps telling me I needed to eat here! We had takeout last week and she was right. The food is good, yes, but even the refried beans tasted creamier! Everything was fresh, dinners came with fresh lettuce, chopped tomatoes and sour cream on the side and the salsa and guacamole was fantastic. Now our #1 favorite here in A-town. It's also closest to our house, even better!!“
“Ordered a Chile relleno a la carte, good value for the price. Best Chile relleno I have ever had, hands down. It had lots of cheese, the batter was flavorful and the sauce was excellent. Also ordered two cheese enchilada combo to go. Nice big portion. The beans were delicious, rice was light and fluffy, enchiladas were amazing. The chips however were stale.. I'm sure the chips are fresh during the day. I did go late, 30 mins before closing. The restaurant was empty and there was no music playing. The decor is a little plain. Nice comfy booths with plenty of room for a big guy. My Modelo cheladas were very good as well. I'll definitely be back and recommend the Chile relleno to anyone who will listen.“
“We went back a second time. This time I ordered the Mediterranean Burrito because I wanted to try something new and I was so pleasantly surprised the first time I did that. As it turns out, it was equally as delicious as the Caribbean Burrito. I'd also like to point out that they are very accommodating about omitting or replacing ingredients in order to make things vegan and/or vegetarian.“
“Taco King is our new favorite Mexican restaurant in SLO. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is incredible. They have great vegan and gluten free options, and they are knowledgeable in their ingredients and helpful on how to order for dietary restrictions. The ambience is warm and inviting. We drove by this place for years, not realizing what a hidden gem it was. Can't recommend it enough! They have a fresh salsa bar as well. 10/10 would recommend!“
“This place is simply just awesome. From the moment you walk in, you can tell it’s super clean and well kept. The ladies that served me and my friend today were super nice! I felt right at home here, which says something, because it’s not too often I get that feeling in SLO as someone who is not local to the area. The food was great. The salsa bar is probably the best I’ve seen at a restaurant, not to mention, also the best tasting. They also keep their salsa bar and entire restaurant super clean too, which are big factors for me when deciding to dine at a restaurant. So glad I found this place, can’t wait to come back and try more menu items and drinks !“
“If you are looking for a sit down, eat chips and salsa with your hot plate of gooey enchiladas then this is the place. The breakfast burrito is loaded with egg and fair amount of meat. The Chile relleno burrito is delicious as the relleno egg batter keeps its fluffy integrity in the burrito.Taco Tuesday with $1.50 tacos is good. There are quite a few Mexican restaurants in SLO that are mediocre, but Pancho's is actually great and satisfying. I find their food to be worth spending money and the prices are reasonable and fair. The service is fast and attentive.“
“The shrimp fajitas were on special and were absolutely phenomenal. The service was excellent. Our fully attentive waitress brought us three baskets of chips, and she never let a drink go dry. I had to comment to my wife how we never see service like that many places these days.Kid-friendliness: They offered a high chair but gave us a booth and we didn't need it. They were pleasant towards our daughter.“
“I liked my passion fruit mango agua frescas, and the Hot Cheeto nachos (with cheese sauce and jalepenos) were a fun, satisfying comfort food. The service was incredible (dad and son were working together, and both very kind). I felt good about supporting this little place!“
“Delicious burritos, pan dulce, Mexican snacks and drinks. We ordered the carniatas burrito, chorizo and egg and the cali burrito. They were all so good but the Cali is AMAZING. Carne asada fries in a burrito. Yes, please! Green salsa was very flavorful and nice amount of heat. We also got some yummy snacks I haven't seen at other stores. Very nice folks running this place as well, everyone was so nice and food arrived quickly! 10/10 will return again“
“This is a favorite ultra-casual go to for breakfast or lunch. Counter service is friendly and attentive. No frills Mexican food is delicious. Beer or horchata are my beverages of choice. Outdoor seating is provided with or without umbrellas. My carnitas burrito a few weeks ago was at the top of the flavor scale. Today I enjoyed the San Miguel burrito for breakfast with horchata to drink. It’s not five star atmosphere. There are cardboard boxes on the deck. The color scheme is random. But service is always provided with a warm smile and attention to detailCheck it out!“
“I came here twice in one week because the tacos are so good. I love that the meat literally falls off the tortilla because there's so much of it and they give you a nice portion of consome to go with it. My son loves rice and beans and he said that they had the best rice and beans he's ever had which is saying a lot because he has pretty much eaten at every restaurant on the Central Coast. I highly recommend this restaurant!!“
“While driving up the coast from Colorado, we stopped at La Parrilla based on the Goggle reviews. Wow! We enjoyed our meals so much we made a special point of stopping by again on our way home. The food was great and a little bit unique. Thank you!“
“I'm a regular here and have tried 6 other Mexican places around SLO and this place by far has some of the most delicious menudo and Mexico food in SLO. I cannot exaggerate how delicious and fresh the food is. Not only is the food delicious and full of flavor but they have a salsa station and they are all spicy. Everything has upheld its quality for the past 4 months of me eating here. There are always plenty of places to sit at including an outdoor patio. It's really nice to be able to see the chiefs as well preparing the food and you can visual see how fresh the food is. The cashier is very polite and sweet. I recommend this place to anyone interested or loves Mexican food l.“
“Had the chicken, asada, and fish tacos, which were all excellent! Served with chips and salsa verde, for no extra cost, a really nice touch. The salsa verde was one of the best I’ve had anywhere: fresh, tangy, salty, and perfectly spicy. Highly recommend trying this place!“
“This Mexican restaurant is by far my husband and ours favorite go-to place! We come a few times a week, love the workers, they're always so kind and know us by name as we know theirs! They always ask how our family is doing, they're just overall the nicest people that work there! We are vegan and we LOVE our veggie burritos from here! We Highly recommend this Mexican restaurant, don't hesitate to give them a try!!“
“Great place in the SLO Public Market. It has a nice classy feel & is tastefully appointed inside. I was greeted by the wonderful owner at the door and we chatted for awhile one day. They have a full range of Mexican foods and an expansive drink selection as well. The upscale bar takes dinning and snacking to the next level...so that one cannot even guess that one is in a complex. If one wants a more formal sit down dinner in SLOPM, this is it.Outside dinning is also an option as well.It is nice to have Mexican food done right in this market.Mucho Gracias!“
“We’ve been regular customers since Jan 2011, at least monthly. The meals are always excellent. Wait staff has always been friendly and professional. We’ve taken family members and visiting friends and they are really impressed by the quality.“
“Upon a recommendation of a friend I decided to try the Vaquero Fries. We had a party of 11 and my meal came out 5-7 minutes after everyone else had their food. Once I got my meal it was worth the wait. The bed was melted shredded Jack cheese. They piled the fries on the covered them with nacho sauce. There was a generous helping of meat covering the cheese. Cilantro, white onions, a large amount of sour cream and guacamole finished it off. I added jalapenos on it and that was a great choice. They were fresh cut and grilled with a flavorful smokey taste. They offer a full size and a half of this meal. So if you're not really hungry go with the half because I only ate just about half of the full size.“
“I was traveling from Santa Clarita up the 101 to meet some Amateur radio friends for a breakfast in Atascadero the other day. The Country Touch Café was selected from Yelp reviews and the meal did not disappoint. There were four of us and everyone reported they enjoyed the good foodI ordered the Cowboy Omelet with hash browns and sourdough toast for $16.50. Folded into the middle was a large portion of Ham, Sausage, Bacon and melted American Cheese. The plate was then smothered with a thick Country Gravy. That was a 5 Star meal right there. One of my friends stated that he always orders the Chile Verde when he goes to a new place. That is the yardstick he measures them by. He gave this place 4.5 out of 5. 5 Stars for the food and a half point off for the toast being a bit late. Hey, he likes his toast...Still that small inconvenience was not enough to mar the experience. If in the neighborhood again I will go back again.“
“We loved this place so so much! Fantastic food, atmosphere, delicious margaritas and live music! Just what we needed after a 40+ mile Spartan race weekend and the staff did so wonderful dealing with all the extra people in town. Will come back any time we’re back to Santa Margarita! :)“
