“My family and I had such an incredible experience at Alforon! Samia, co-owner and sole waitress/hostess, laughed with us the entire time, sharing her candid recommendations and suggestions. The za'atar flatbread, chicken kebab, and aaysh essaraya (we ended up ordering two!) were particularly delightful. It was our first time, but it was incredibly telling that the rest of the guests were regulars (one couple was there for the third time that week) - the entire experience felt like we were having a meal at a beloved family member's home. I wish we lived in San Diego because I would be back in a heartbeat!“

“Food was good. However, the cashiers were busy cleaning up for the night vs taking care of customers. It wasn’t late, either. It was around 7:30 or 7:45 on a Sunday. The cleaners they use are very strong. Very pinesol or something like that. Glad I got food to go because I wouldn’t want to have smelled the cleaners during dinner. Dining room had zero vibe.“

“I can’t believe I almost drove past this place. My girlfriends and I wanted to try a new place in college area and this is now our go-to spot. I love the family banter between coworkers, the local flyers in the hallway, and the decorations. Most importantly - the food!! Absolute best Mediterranean food I’ve had in a while and they have this secret sauce that hits everytime. I’ve seen some people saying the prices are too high for the portions, but not at all. The portions are huge (definitely room for leftovers), and the prices are no different than a Luna Grill or Kebab Shop. So if you’re thinking of trying something new, look no further. P.S. there’s a bowl of candy at the register“

“This was our first time trying Somali food, and it definitely won’t be our last! We asked the staff what they recommended, and every suggestion was excellent.
The whole fried fish was perfectly crispy with amazing flavor, the halal buffalo fries were spicy and delicious, and the sambusas were some of the best we’ve had. We also tried a drink we’d never had before that tasted like a mix between Dr Pepper and grape soda, and it was surprisingly refreshing!
The service was friendly and welcoming, and they made our first experience with Somali cuisine a great one. My husband enjoyed it so much that he already said he’ll be stopping by for lunch whenever he’s working in San Diego.
Thank you, Bisbas, for such a wonderful meal. We look forward to coming back and trying even more of the menu. Highly recommend if you’re looking to try something new and incredibly flavorful!“

“i absolutely fell in love! i was a first time customer and received such a welcoming experience. everyone was so friendly and helpful and not to mention, the food was amazing! i got the chicken shawarma fries and it was seriously the best fries i have ever had in my whole life! we even received recommendations for the next time we come back, which we most definitely will! 10/10 recommend!“

“First time here and not disappointed. Didn't have a long wait like others said. The doma was excellent. I got the combo to try their meats - beef kabob, chicken Tikka, and beef shawarma. All were seasoned well, especially the shawarma...very bold. But it's the cook on the meat that set them apart! All 3 were tender, juicy, and savory. Too many overcook these but they just melted in my mouth. Highly recommended.“

“I ordered 5 Ground Beef Kabob Skewers , 5 Chicken Tikka Skewers, 1 chicken cream chop, 1 Shawarma Wrap, Rice, Hummus & Salad. Served with Pita Bread, Grilled So when I got home I find out there is only 4 Ground Beef kabob and 4 chicken Tikka And that was so embarrassing for me because I invited 5 people for lunch That was really bad experience“

Ok now for my novel:
Bica is easily my favorite coffee shop and social space in San Diego. Their food is incredibly fresh and delicious with so many complimentary flavors. I also have some tummy issues that really limits what I can eat when i go out as i typically feel horrible after eating most food. But at bica, I genuinely feel better when I eat their food which is rare for me to find and something I really really appreciate. I think the quality of their ingredients is just so much better than everywhere else. If you cant decide on wht to get from their menu, just pick something random and it will be amazing. Everyone around this place is genuinely authentic and friendly. The staff and the people who ocme here to hang, work, and just exist are some of the coolest and sweetest poeple ive met in San Diego. There arent enough words to describe how special and amazing bica really is. I feel a little silly glazing a place so much, but bica is such a breath of fresh air for me. ok thanks for reading now go to bica. or else >:)“
