“First time here and not disappointed. Didn't have a long wait like others said. The doma was excellent. I got the combo to try their meats - beef kabob, chicken Tikka, and beef shawarma. All were seasoned well, especially the shawarma...very bold. But it's the cook on the meat that set them apart! All 3 were tender, juicy, and savory. Too many overcook these but they just melted in my mouth. Highly recommended.“

“My family and I had such an incredible experience at Alforon! Samia, co-owner and sole waitress/hostess, laughed with us the entire time, sharing her candid recommendations and suggestions. The za'atar flatbread, chicken kebab, and aaysh essaraya (we ended up ordering two!) were particularly delightful. It was our first time, but it was incredibly telling that the rest of the guests were regulars (one couple was there for the third time that week) - the entire experience felt like we were having a meal at a beloved family member's home. I wish we lived in San Diego because I would be back in a heartbeat!“

“Just tried the falafel sandwich from Falafel California and it did not disappoint! The bread was perfectly grilled and crispy with a nice toasted flavor, wrapped tight and packed with flavor. It came with three different sauces (garlic, spicy red, and a mild white sauce) — each one added something different and paired really well with the sandwich.

Everything was neat and well packaged too. Great quality for the price. Will definitely be ordering again and highly recommend it to anyone in the area.“

“I can’t believe I almost drove past this place. My girlfriends and I wanted to try a new place in college area and this is now our go-to spot. I love the family banter between coworkers, the local flyers in the hallway, and the decorations. Most importantly - the food!! Absolute best Mediterranean food I’ve had in a while and they have this secret sauce that hits everytime. I’ve seen some people saying the prices are too high for the portions, but not at all. The portions are huge (definitely room for leftovers), and the prices are no different than a Luna Grill or Kebab Shop. So if you’re thinking of trying something new, look no further. This gave us the chance to try most of their specialties .It was really impressive that each entree had its own unique flavor. The service was excellent and very friendly. “This was our first time trying Somali food, and it definitely won’t be our last! We asked the staff what they recommended, and every suggestion was excellent.

The whole fried fish was perfectly crispy with amazing flavor, the halal buffalo fries were spicy and delicious, and the sambusas were some of the best we’ve had. We also tried a drink we’d never had before that tasted like a mix between Dr Pepper and grape soda, and it was surprisingly refreshing!

The service was friendly and welcoming, and they made our first experience with Somali cuisine a great one. My husband enjoyed it so much that he already said he’ll be stopping by for lunch whenever he’s working in San Diego.

I messaged them because we have ordered several times before and thought maybe they would try to make it right but they never replied. This was 2 weeks ago. We will never buy food here again! The servings are very small and there are tons of other places to eat or order take out around here if they want to be jerks about it! The food is average really, we order out frequently so as not to have to cook and live in the area. We got about $1 worth of rice and lettuce for a $30 meal plate, what a joke!“

“Found this place randomly on Google Maps, and I was not disappointed! Service was amazing, and I loved how they sent texts on when to come and it was so easy to order. Even though there is no seating, the service was impeccable. We were greeted by a nice person who served us our food, and it is clear they cooked this with care.
