“Honestly my favorite place to eat at UCSD. The food is fresh and consistently great. The falafel is made in-house and fresh. The owner and staff are super friendly too. If I could eat here every day I would lol.Dietary restrictions: All the food/meat is Halal.“
“This place is near and dear to my heart. I first went here as a 20 year old UCSD student in the late 90s and continued to eat here regularly until leaving San Diego 3 years ago. Whenever I'm back in San Diego it will be one of the first places I visit. It simply is the best kebabs I've had in my life. I say this as someone who lived in NYC and has traveled around the world a fair bit. Sure, you have to put in an order early during the lunch rush, but there is a reason for it.“
“Someone in my office knows the owners of Oriste and had them cater an office lunch. I love Greek food but usually, the food at restaurants is bland and very dry. This is especially true for takeout. I was very surprised that the food from Oriste was the opposite. Kebabs, Shwarma, chicken, everything was good. I hope to visit their restaurant.“
“We had a catering from this place for our small home party, and the food was FANTASTIC. Meat skewers are so tender that melt in your moth. And I don't recall myself eating rice (!) and potato(!) with such an excitement. Not a single complaint, everything is perfect. Also, placing an order was a great experience itself. Thank you!“
“As a vegetarian, the presentation of all the fresh food was my #1 sign - this was going to be good, I hoped. Then the friendly people working was another. So yes, my ancient grain salad was full of flavor, great variety & textures. It's my jam 100%. My husband enjoyed the beef w hummus & rice. Both dishes were fantastic! Highly recommended...AZ?! Healthy options are always welcome!Vegetarian options: Always looking for fresh, yet fast food- it's here!“
“The cashier/food runner Rebecca is extremely insincere and frankly bad at her job. I asked for her name just so other customers can avoid an unpleasant interaction. The other employee were honestly very kind and helpful. I had asked Rebecca for a refill just to have her tell me to ask her coworker. She then proceeded to go behind the counter and flirt with the clearly uncomfortable male employee who ended up actually providing my group with satisfactory service. Food was amazing and the restaurant itself is very clean and well operated aside from the one unpleasant employee. I won't be giving one star because everything else made up for it.“
“Been going here for years and it never disappoints. The veggie combo platter is my staple order as it offers a wide variety of vegetarian dishes in one plate such as falafels, hummus, dolmas, spanakopita, etc. You also can't go wrong with their gyro sandwich special. Their French fries are surprisingly pretty solid - crispy and thick cut. They renovated the inside some time ago so it looks so much nicer. Plenty of patio seating is available as well. The service is usually pretty good. They can get quite busy so it's best to have your order ready to go before you get to the counter!“
“Absolutely love this place! I have been here 5 times now and it is very convenient if you are a UCSD student. I have tried almost every meat they offer and have only had their wraps thus far. I would note that the wraps and the boxes are the same prices but it seems like the wraps are a lot more food and excessively filling. I personally recommend the grilled steak and grilled chicken which holds a lot more flavor than the carved meats. You do have to pay a premium. The staff have always offered exceptional service and the overall vibe is very jovial within the premises. The sauces are self serve and mandatory to accompany the food. The garlic yogurt is heavenly! They offer a rewards program and have multiple locations as well. Ordering is quick, food gets to you quick and the restaurant has always been clean. I haven't confirmed this but it is likely they also offer a student discount (especially for UCSD students). Love the location as it is within a shopping center and next to a mall as well. Easily one of my top spots that I have ate at in San Diego ever since coming down here for university.“
“This restaurant offers affordably priced Mediterranean food in the heart of pricy La Jolla's shopping district. I have recently enjoyed meals there on two separate occasions, and found the food good, the wait time reasonable, and the service friendly.“
“The good: Great location, right by the water, parks, and shops. Plenty of Mediterranean options to choose from, but we went the classic gyro. The pita was soft, the gyro meat was flavorful, and it was loaded with sauce and feta. Service was friendly and attentive. The not-so-good: Expensive, but that's also the area in general. Portion sizes were a little on the smaller side. They didn't have lamb for the gyro meat, so we went with beef.Food/drink: 8/10Atmosphere: 8/10Service: 9/10“
“We had a delightful dining experience at this restaurant, where we reserved a table specifically for its delectable cuisine and stunning ocean view. To kick off the evening, I opted for a dark beer, reminiscent of Guinness, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Despite not being overly hungry, we decided to try two appetizers: the clam and octopus. The generous portions left us completely satisfied, with flavors that were absolutely exquisite. Our server, Ryan, was incredibly knowledgeable and guided us through the menu with helpful recommendations. His friendly demeanor and exceptional customer service truly enhanced our dining experience. We savored our meal while taking in the beautiful ocean view, making it one of the most memorable dining experiences during our time in La Jolla.“
“Always tastes great, although serving sizes do fluctuate every time I go. The employees do seem to not be familiar with the limited time menu items, as I asked about the Basalmic Date Chicken and they seem confused about it and told me they didn’t have it even though it was on the menu.“
“Date night was amazing! The drinks were good and the beet salad and filet mignon were to die for. The sauce that comes with the filet is incredible. My only regret is we didn't order 2 filets. I would sub fries for roasted beets or some other side though.“
