“The photo does not do it justice! My fiancé went in to pick up our order and the gentleman there was beyond kind to give him a bowl of delicious lentil soup while he waited. We got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan and we were not disappointed. It was delicious and flavorful with perfectly cooked chicken and rice. The sauce was perfectly balanced the portions were large and left us both with no complaints! We cannot wait to go back and try other things. It’s definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I will be recommending to friends.“

“Overall extremely please with everything. Mostly the freshness of the dish was really great. It's as though it were almost cooked from scratch. Hard to believe but they really know what they are doing. I would love to return and try more dishes.“

“Great place to get a quick bite. I got food that was in the pre-made section and it was all very tasty but just tasted like it'd been in the warmer a bit. If you want fast Chinese to-go this is a fantastic place to get it. And they have those giant egg rolls I love“

“I always enjoy the food here. It's some of the best Chinese Food in Santa Rosa and everything tastes authentic, good, and always freshly made. There's always plenty of parking, never too busy, and the service is impeccable. My favorite part of the restaurant is the bright pink Hannah Montana clock behind the counter, really brings the whole place together.“

“Food is amazing, not sweet, not super american style. If you like sugar fried chicken maybe this place isn't for you! If you want thinly sliced medium rare stir fried lamb or saucy soft creamy egglplant in a savory spicy gravy then you'll be thrilled. Even the white rice is fab. omg and the portions are huge. Literally got 6 meals out of 3 dishes.“

“Absolutely the best Chinese food in Sonoma county and probably Marin county too. The walnut and pineapple prawns are to die for. Their Moo goo guy pan is beautiful with well cooked vegetables, chicken breast with a light brown sauce. I adore our regular order of pork pot stickers, big fried shrimp, hot and sour soup and prawn chow mein. The usual like orange and lemon chicken is delicious. Also sweet and sour pork with green peppers cooked perfectly so good my mouth is watering.IMO their paper wrapped chicken needs cilantro. But it's still good.Their lunch specials are huge and include a crab raggon usually (or other appetizers), rice or chow mein and a big serving of any entrees even ones not on lunch specials. You may just get charged a bit more.Only bad thing here imo is the dipping sauce for the pot stickers. It's oily and orange and has hardly any taste. I make my own with white vinegar, soy sauce, chopped green onions and a tiny bit of either teriyaki sauce or sugar. Jenny Lowe's used to make a sauce like mine.I've been going to Great China for over 3 decades and even when I moved to Greenbrae I used to drive up to get it. It's the THAT good. Service is always great. I swear this one lady has been there for decades and hasn't aged a bit! Magic food ;) Highly recommend you try it yourself
Parking: In a large strip mall shopping center with a ton of parking in the Great China side
Kid-friendliness: Get t those kids some chop sticks to play with! Good for training your children how to behave while in a restaurant.“

“We enjoy going there for lunch when we are out of food at home. The lunch price is reasonable and the portion is large enough for two meals. I like snow peas with beef and my spouse likes snow peas with chicken. The food is always piping hot when they bring it to us. It comes with a cup of soup and it is tasty as well. No complain about the service if you tip a fair amount.“

“The price $ it’s cheap and the food it’s good and don’t listen to this bad reviews. it reminds me like being in New York or San Francisco. It’s just a small little place where they make really good food. You go and pick your food and you take it home!!“

“I ordered through doordash. China Star followed my special instructions to a tee
Their food is delicious. I've tried other places in Santa Rosa but always fall back on China Star and we'll probably always stay with them when I get the urge for Chinese food.“

“Pros:
The food was great. I ordered the Basil Lamb and it was one of the best dishes I've had; light crunch on lamb, basil truly was the hero.
My mother's orange chicken was cooked akin to battered fish, with great sauce and presentation. A winner.
Cons:
Their vegetarian options were really limited for my uncle, and what was served was an oily mess.
The server was very rushed and impatient, but it looked like she was running a marathon solo too. Hard to gauge what it would be under better staffing.“

“I ordered sesame beef to go, I’m sorry to say it was terrible! Meat hard, no sauce, and mushy!!!
It was 7:30pm on Saturday night, I thought it would be fresh and yummy. Still have stomach ache from it.
This is my last time here. Chaulk it up to covid?
I really enjoyed Mongolian Chicken & Vegie Fried Rice the other day! Delicious and very spicy like I like. Thank you May Garden!“

“Small old school chinese restaurant. Felt like I was eating at a local place in my childhood. The food was good, quick, and affordable. Lunch special was $11 and was a ton of food. Great place and I'll be back! I got wonton soup, lemon chicken, and fried rice - all yummy!“

“Stopped by this place on my way through town. It has a good hole-in-the-wall feel that you find at local-run Chinese food places like this. The owner is the one who served us and I’m pretty sure she cooked most of the food herself too. We were the only party there when we started our meal since it was between lunch and dinner. Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free, which is so hard to find. Even the soy sauce had gluten free options! I’ll definitely be here again if I find my way through town again.
Dietary restrictions: Great celiac-friendly options!“

“Their drive thru is in such an awkward position, but overall, very quick.
Parking: Due to the awkward positioning of the drive thru, if you do get a parking spot, getting out is extremely difficult if the drive thru is busy“
