“We came in on a Sunday morning, and this place was very busy. The nice young guy behind the counter was patient and sweet to everybody even though he was working alone and getting slammed. The food was good and the coffee was hot. Props to that guy for holding it down!“

This is a great shop to pick up the necessities and a sweet treat while you're at it! On Sundays, there is a farmers market in the parking lot, so you can grab something to snack on while you roam the market or get your groceries and then finish up with a pastry. The prices are great too!“

“I regularly get my bread here. They have a nice assortment of options, including gluten free ones. It can be a bit expensive for the size, but it's significantly cheaper to buy a day old loaf, which still tastes great and lasts well. The pastries are tasty as well; although,I have had the avocado toasts a few times and would not recommend the Westside toast as it is overly salty, the lemon extract doesn't go well, and is overly priced for the quality. They have a lovely little shop in the back with local and artisanal goods, where I get my gochujang when available.“

Felt weird , threw them away. we like the cream cheese bit dense, it was liquidy. Also it would be nice if they cut the bagels in half, easier to eat em.“

They have these little TOLL HOUSE Chocolate Chip Cookies and mini snickerdoodles. I love just grabbing a few since they are small.I needed to grab a sweet treat one day and stopped here while waiting for another order nearby. They had just baked some fresh cinnamon roll twists that were not even frosted yet. I got two of them to go and they were so delicious and definitely satisfied my sweet tooth.Everyone who works here is super-nice and always helpful. My husband ordered the vegan raspberry chocolate cake for my 64th and it's the best I've had in a long time. Kaitlin outdid herself with the decorating as well. As a long time vegan cook and baker, I'm not sure how she manages such a delicious frosting, but it was divine. I wouldn't hesitate to order from Black China Bakery. They were kind, accommodating to my husband's requests and all around a business that deserves our support.“

“Companion bakeshop is the best bakery!! I’ve been to bakeries around the country as well as here in Santa cruz. As a baker myself who’s tried about half the baked goods they offer there was only one item I wouldn’t buy again.

All their bread is wild yeast. And they offer 100% whole grain loaves! The pistachio dream is ridiculously good. I literally dream about it and I’m not a meringue or nut person. The quality of ingredients shows in everything and their thoughtfulness about healthier options is also evident. As in their almond croissant which features a non traditional whole meal “marzipan”.

“We just had our daughter’s post wedding brunch on the lovely private lower outside deck. Worked with Naomi to come up with the perfect buffet menu which they set up beautifully. They put flowers out on the tables and cleared plates regularly. Friendly lovely people as well.“

Simple, cute, clean, and charming. Had good service from the same nice gentleman both times I was there. If you're looking for some simple morning fare while staying nearby, I would definitely recommend you check out this Ferrell's location.“

I guess they don’t get many requests for mochas because what I got was mostly milk with a splash of coffee & zero chocolate. Getting it iced costs another 50¢, which I’ve never seen before. They really don’t promote their coffee beverages, so…. Hopefully your experience will be better.“
