“We travelled from Maryland to experience San Francisco, found this local restaurant within walking distance of our hotel, and decided to give it a try. It was well worth it! The staff was accommodating, attentive and very friendly. The food was exceptional! If you haven’t tried Mediterranean cuisine or love it, this is the place for you!“

“THIS IS INSANE! I cant believe i have found this amazing place! Guys i have tried all Mediterranean restaurants all over the Bay Area and trust me there is nothing close to this! You will be impressed by the food portion, quality, and price! I was never being able to finish my order! Long menu full of attractions and satisfying prices! The staff are so friendly and nice, very talented and always smiling, you will also find the owner himself serving and welcoming you with a lot of generosity and hospitality! “Ever thought of trying a local small business, family restaurant. The guy who runs this place came from Turkiye in 2008. Settled down in SFO, had a family and is living an American dream.
His only complaint is SFO is expensive. Well we can all agree to that.
Food is very tasty.
We tried falafel wrap, chicken gyro and kids gyro with rice. All of these were of great quality. Plus the Turkish delight was fabulous. Owner shared Turkish tea on the house. Plus I ordered fries in kids meal but it came with rice instead. No worries he added fries and refused to take money for it. Well I made it up in the tip.
If you are south SFO and crave Mediterranean food. This is the place.“

“Oh my goodness. Such a gem in the rough. Amazing food in the middle of an industrial area. I'm an old fat white guy, and the meal defeated me. For the first time in a long time, I needed a doggy bag. The Shawarma were delicious as were the pickled veggies and cole slaw. The Arabic coffee was to die for. So rich and thick!“

“Fabulous experience! My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's dinner at Presidio Kebab. My wife tried the Yakut red wine from Turkey that was a little sweet and very good. We started with some Greek fries and Baba Ghanosh that were tasty. My wife enjoyed the lentil soup and a Greek Salad. We recommend asking for extra lemon vinaigrette dressing on the side for extra flavor. I had the steak kebab medium and it was prepared perfectly. The service was stellar, friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back:)“

“This Turkish restaurant is outstanding in all aspects! Our dinner consisted of the Meze Combo, which is an excellent selection of their fabulous appetizers, the Lamb Shish Kebab, with lamb that was cooked to perfection, and the Adana Kebab, which was a fine mixture of lamb and beef in a slightly spicy combination. The waiter was very polite and extremely friendly and welcoming, and very attentive to our needs. We thoroughly appreciated his recommendation of the baklava to compliment the excellent meal we had. It had just the right amount of sweetness and a wonderful blend of walnuts and spices. Due to the meal being so exceptional, we came back the next morning for an outstanding breakfast!!! We had the Menemen (Shaksouka) and the American Breakfast. And finished it off with a bowl of their Sutlac - the creamy rice pudding! Delicious indeed! Great waitstaff at both meals! Last night I was particularly appreciative of the excellent care/service they provided to a vegan member of our team. They had thoughtful menu options and cautioned against cross contamination in cooking oil, depending on how strict the person is with their diet. “The moment I stepped inside the smell of freshly baked bread and grilled meats made me feel like I was back in a traditional kitchen in Turkey and the hospitality here is truly something special. I spent a long time enjoying my dinner because the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming which makes it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family. I really loved the mixed grill platter and the cold appetizers were so fresh and flavorful that they reminded me of some of the best meals I have had while traveling. The quality of the ingredients is top notch and you can tell that the chefs take a lot of pride in keeping the recipes authentic and true to their roots. I noticed that the staff are incredibly friendly and they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need while explaining the different dishes on the menu with a lot of passion. Even though it is a very popular place for locals the service felt very personal and I never felt rushed during the entire evening. The service was fast and we received all of our food in under 10 minutes. I ordered the beef kabob platter and it was great. The beef was very tender, I could pull it apart with my hands and it was very flavorful and paired with everything very well. The side cucumber salad was very aromatic and tangy and paired contrasted well with the rice and bread. I put everything in the pita bread and it was amazing. You could tell everything was made freshly with good ingredients. The pita chips were so good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect. The staff were kind and served us very fast. “A group (6) of us went to celebrate a friends retirement and it was the first time for all of us at Amara. We wanted to to try a variety of dishes since they all sounded so good! James was our waiter, he was amazing and helped us come up with a selection that that was a mix of their Mezzes, Share Plates and Large plates. Their pita bread was to die for, it was so delicious and it helped us sop up every last bit of the sauces from each dish. James also made a suggestion of an off menu Cabbage ( shared plate) that hands down we all loved. The Branzino , the raviolis, Broccoli, egg plant and Muhammara all were delicious with wonderful flavors!! And like I said earlier James was an amazing waiter and contributed to our wonderful meal. I definitely plan on going back 😋“

“Charming mom and Pop place with good prices. We couldn’t believe how big the wraps were and they were absolutely delicious. Like I was in SHOCK! First wrap I really liked since moving to SF.
