“A friend recently treated me to dinner here at this family-owned and it was spectacular start to finish. Charming, intimate atmosphere, friendly service and terrific food. I love tapas and don't know of a great tapas place in LA, so this was quite a surprise, especially in the valley.

Highly recommend the hamachi crudo, albondigas and paella, which is one of the best I have eaten.“

“I had breakfast and my friend had lunch. I ordered a la carte a pancake, egg and bacon. The egg was not cooked the way I liked it (even after I was specific with my order) and by the time I was bought another I was over it. The bacon was made properly so it was good along with the pancake however, the syrup had a strange taste. Overall, I was displeased as my food was cold and we all know breakfast food is better nice and hot. My friend had the BLT and that was actually very good (I did taste it) so I recommend the it. Though he was nice, I could tell my server was overwhelmed as it was hard to get his attention when needed. Though it was decent, there are things that need to be improved. Also, this place isn't very big so make a reservation as walking in could possibly have you waiting a long time for a table or put you at the bar.“

“This place is the go-to destination for Spanish tapas. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the venue offers two distinct vibes: a great front restaurant area and a relaxed rear patio.

Drinks: They definitely make the best Spanish-style gin and tonics in LA. At $16-18, Less expensive than other cocktails in the area.

Come here if you want a great overall experience.“

“After our last experience trying to order food somewhere else, Nonna’s Empanadas completely saved the day.

My girlfriend and I ordered the beef empanada with ground beef, red peppers, olives, egg, and onion, and saying it was fantastic is honestly an understatement. It had that perfect “wow, this is actually really good” reaction from both of us.

The flavor was excellent, the filling was rich and balanced, and one empanada is the perfect amount to curb your appetite. Two would definitely be a full meal.

My girlfriend and I both agreed it was absolutely fantastic. Simple, delicious, and memorable. Huge wow factor. We’ll definitely be back.“

Mocambo Hollywood Spanish •
6679 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles - 3.93 miles

“My entire experience was extremely disappointing. The bartender was rude and demonstrated a complete lack of customer service from the moment my guest and I sat at the bar. We were not greeted at all. When we asked about drink options and specials, she immediately rang up the order and shoved the handheld payment device in our faces without explaining that payment was required upfront or offering any communication whatsoever.

When we attempted to get her attention afterward, she brushed us off repeatedly. The food that arrived was burnt and tasted terrible. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were told that they did not speak English, which was both frustrating and unacceptable.

The only person who showed any level of professionalism or care was the security guard, who did his best to assist us. Ultimately, we received a refund and left.

As a restaurant consultant, I found this experience especially disheartening. I will not be returning, particularly if this bartender remains in place. Customer service, communication, and basic hospitality were entirely absent.“

“Outstanding experience from start to finish.

We spent about 3 hours at Somni, and the pacing was so impeccable that the time flew by. Every single dish was executed flawlessly, showcasing an impressive balance of culinary creativity and thoughtfulness without being overly ostentatious.

What makes Somni truly special is the seamless harmony of the team. The kitchen and service staff work in perfect synchronization, delivering top-tier hospitality that feels both professional and warm. They even weave a subtle, lighthearted sense of humor into their presentation and custom utensils, which added a wonderful touch to the evening.

An exceptional dining experience that fully justifies a 3-star Michelin caliber. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.“

“The food was complexly flavorful, and very thoughtfully presented. The trout escabeche and the mushroom ragout coca were the stand outs to us. However, although we mentioned this was our first anniversary dinner, it went un acknowledged by our the host and server and we felt largely ignored by our waitstaff. So not a good place to go if you’re celebrating something big.“

“Our Friend Vahe took us this week for a Tapas Treat to this gem on Ventura Blvd. They have been serving the valley with excellent Tapas for 20+ years. We went all the way - tried and shared most of the small tapas - croquetas, mushroom, shrimp, patatas and all the little baguette delicacies - and had a really good time. They have live music - a wonderful guitar player - on some days. If you like Spanish guitar worth checking out his dates in the place. If you care for Tapas - this is the right place.“

Garnachas De Res Con Curtido Beef Garnachas with Sauerkraut

“A hidden gem in the heart of Koreatown, Xecul offers a warm, authentic taste of Guatemala! My sister and I have visited twice, and as non-Latina/os, we were blown away by the kindness and hospitality—especially from the sweet and welcoming waitstaff (Anna is a highlight!). Knowing some Spanish helps (high school level + Google Translate worked fine for me), since the staff seems to speak primarily Spanish. Nonetheless, if you're willing to make the effort with rudimentary Spanish, the patient and friendly waiting staff should treat you fine.

The cozy, colorful space feels like a true local favorite, buzzing with regulars (including even charming musicians on the weekend). Standouts include the rich and savory pepián chicken, tender and delicious carne asada, and incredibly refreshing iced juices. Prices are slightly high, but completely fair for the high quality. If you're craving something off the beaten path and full of heart and decliciousness, Xecul is absolutely worth the detour.“

“Sarita’s Pupuseria is one of those places where you immediately know you made the right decision the second you take your first bite. Honestly, give me 20. No hesitation.

You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but the revuelta is the one. If there were such a thing as a perfect bite, it would be that pupusa with curtido and just a little drop of their salsa. It’s warm, savory, slightly tangy, and hits every note exactly the way it should.

Everything is made to order, so come with a little patience. But that’s part of the experience. Watching them press, fill, and cook each pupusa is its own kind of show. These aren’t rushed. They’re crafted. And you can taste that in every bite.

It’s the kind of food that feels simple but is done so well it stays with you. Add in the fact that it has a little movie moment tied to it, and it just makes the whole experience even better.

All worth the wait. Every single time.“
