“I ordered the 22 TW Champion Milk Tea with brown sugar boba, and I absolutely loved it!
Using red oolong instead of the usual black tea gives the drink a unique depth of flavor that’s smooth, fragrant, and not overly sweet. The brown sugar boba had the perfect chewy texture and paired beautifully with the tea.
Overall, it’s a fantastic drink in a great location, and I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from the menu.“

“We’ve been here twice now, once during their soft opening and again this past weekend. We stumbled upon it by accident while in Sawtelle, and it’s apparently a very popular chain.

Most drink spots usually have just a couple of standout items that end up being overly sugary or one-note, but I’ve been genuinely impressed with Jam Jam. We ordered 4 different drinks, and every single one tasted distinct, balanced, and fantastic in its own way. They don’t just look great for photos; the flavors are genuinely amazing.

The space itself is clean, modern, and comfortable to hang out in. Unlike a lot of drink spots in Sawtelle, it doesn’t get overwhelmingly loud, making it actually enjoyable to sit down and relax. Ordering through the self-checkout kiosks keeps things efficient, letting the staff fully focus on making drinks quickly.

Easily my current favorite drink spot in the area for both the variety and the overall vibe.“

“It's really hard to find freas brew bubble tea which is not pre-sweetened. ALL the teas here come unsweet and you can custom add your sweet level. They have whole milk as well as non dairy. BONUS is additional types of add ins that are also hard to find such as red beans, grassjelly, and coconut jelly. Reasonable price.“

“Cute branch of a chain bubble tea store. They have a standard menu with some options not being able to modify sugar levels (ex. Strawberry colada) but their drinks are great, albeit minimum 6 bucks. The strawberry colada is delicious and has a good amount of strawberry, although I could do with more. The oreo boba drink had the perfect amount of boba and was very good. They have games as well. Small location but fast service and open late, which is a plus since other places in the area are not.“

“On the scale of Boba, Black Sugar lives in the fresh ingredients and healthier side without being fussy and still feeling like classic boba tea. Both the boba itself and their tea and flavors are high quality and the inclusion of coconut milk as an option makes for some wonderfully rich drinks. “This review is overdue. First, I've been here twice and the service is just amazing. The ladies that work here are so nice and so is the guy in the back. Excellent customer service. Second, on the back of the Ralph's receipt (the supermarket in the same shopping center), they advertise, buy 1, get 1 free, which is an excellent deal. And, you can use the coupons over and over which is really cool. Third, they allow you to sample all of the flavorful ice creams and are very patient with you while you make your decisions. We normally get two cones with two scoops each and buy one, get one free! It's an amazing deal! We've tried the cookies n creme, salted caramel, butter pecan, strawberry cheesecake, and the chocolate- everything is so yummy and tasty.“

Coming from someone who knows the boba scene in the LA/Westwood area, this place doesn’t necessarily warrant the 20-30 minute wait for it.
