“We have been coming to Gabi James for a few years now and have never had a bad experience. It is one of our favorite places to eat and we always recommend it to anyone in the area. Every employee we have encountered is personable and puts in so much effort to make customers feel welcome. The food always comes out so fast, the quality of the food is above so many other restaurants and the preparation is always consistent and delicious. Our most recent visit was especially great as we were celebrating my husband's birthday and had actually started our night at a different restaurant thinking we would try something new. We however lasted about 20 minutes at the other restaurant and realized how sub par the quality of their food, drinks and service was and instantly regretted not going to Gabi James as we usually would. Luckily we saw that it was early enough that we could still get reservations at Gabi James and decided to head there instead so we could have the dining experience we wanted for my husbands birthday and it was perfect as expected. We joked that we learned our lesson and wouldn't stray from our favorite restaurant again! Thank you for always making our experience so enjoyable!“
“My husband and I had a great experience at Bonaparte Bistro! It's a lovely restaurant with a nice ambience. We had the trout and branzino dishes. Both were delicious and we also enjoyed the potatoes, Brussel sprouts and sautéed spinach as the side dishes. Brooke, our server, was very friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and provided great customer service! We enjoyed ourselves and will be back soon!“
“Bonjour! We discovered that typically French bistro, hedging on bohemian design by pure luck strolling down the street. Curiosity enticed us to make a reservation a few days later. We were welcomed by a smily hostess & guided to our table. Having read the menu on the door, we pretty much knew what we would order, however our local guest had to peruse the menu. We decided to order a large charcuterie board while we were discussing the items. Promptly we were made aware of the daily specials. The charcuterie and cheese board was covered by some slices of salami that reminded me of the Jesus de Lyon, some. Good country style pâté, some deliciousProsciutto, three cheeses, a bleu d’Auvergne(may be fourme d’Ambert) some conté, and a less desirable brie looking cheese, and of course there were the north American accoutrements of jam, walnuts, raisins but no cornichon(bizarre!). A basket of acceptable sliced baguette did the trick. We shared the delicious appetizer special composed of « al dente »green asparagus and hot smoked trout filet well balanced with a vinaigrette. The red beet/goat cheese salad lacked some wholeness: the red wine dressing lacked acidity and it doesn’t help the beets now days have lost their dark colour and much of their flavour due to seed manipulation. (May be some chopped garlic and parsley would have been welcomed). The beef Bourguignon stole the show, excellent large piece of beef shoulder nicely slowly braised in the red wine sauce with mashed russet potatoes and baby carrots(didn’t notice the mushroom, lardons and pearl onions) the bouillabaisse… we are so far away from the Mediterranean Sea…it had to be reinvented and it was, I would have appreciated more than one kind of fish, the sliced insipid fennel(it has no taste when you cook it, that is not the fault of the chef, mind you, probably another manipulation from Monsanto) may be a few drop of pastis would have played the trick, and saffron, what saffron?? The only disappointment was the Muscovy duck leg confit, I couldn’t check the pedigree of that duck, but that scrawny leg might have been from a Mulard duck instead, the fat wasn’t crispy and the meat firm and dry (was there enough duck fat for the confit process?) We sampled the three desserts: crème brûlée, was good, probably made with half &half cream instead of the 35% cream and no vanilla beans, the chocolate mousse ,could have been more airy, the lemon tart, I would have liked more of a lemony punch, maybe by incorporating some lemon zest when you emulsify the cream.A wine bistro..It was indeed! A very well assembled wine list, moderatly priced, good selection of Bordeaux and Burgundy wineries and surprisingly a few Beaujolais(Morton, Fleury…) In all a good experience.A bientôt !“
“Food is to die for. We came during power outage in Monterey and the place was packed. Although we had to wait, the food was amazing, staff was very friendly and accommodating, they were working very hard. This is our second time at the Creperie. We discovered the place when our friend had a birthday party there. The Creperie served about 30 people. My husband and I had salmon crepe, chicken panini and Banana Nutella crepe. Now I’m hooked. I want to try every single item there. Coffee was very nice too. I like that there are gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options too. We highly recommend.“
“Enjoyed the baguette with butter, Anchovy Cesar salad, the Yellow Tail Special with Capers and lemon sauce as well as the Escargot. Everything was absolutely delicious. the service was outstanding and the atmosphere was so quaint and homey. I really enjoyed my experience. Will definitely be returning and recommending.“
“A nice place to have breakfast. It is pretty quiet early mornings, which is nice. Delicious coffee and buckwheat crepes. We tried variety of fillings and all came savory. The menu is extensive and has plenty of healthy choices. Convenient location to have a walk on the beach after the meal.“
“I had the pastrami sandwich with Fries and it was pretty good. I also tried a breakfast sandwich and it was missing flavor, but the sandwiches were a good size. Overall. Nice place for quick bite and a walk on the beach which is 1 block away. Be careful if you have a sweet tooth. Pastries are really good. I had a creme Brulee and a cherry and cream cheese Croissant.“
“Maybe Valentine's Day dinner is not the best time to write a review but... Food: Main courses were 50/50 - mussels were fresh and yummy; the coq au vin chicken was dry and a tad over cooked but the vin sauce was tasty. The deviled eggs appetizer was disappointing as it tasted like it was made the day before. Service was solid and attentive. The interior needs some sound dampening as the main dining area is way too loud. You have to almost yell to carry on a conversation because everyone is doing the same.“
“Stopped by for a late night drink for a friend. Was a little confusing finding the place, but that was the only issue. The server was very friendly, and even though they were about to close we didn't feel pressured or rushed at all. The cocktails were great - I always try to find slight various on my favorites, and Joliet didn't disappoint. The ambience was chill and casual, and not too loud, always a plus for me.“
“Excellent food at great prices. This is a small cafe not far from the beach. They've just started dinner service - and it is excellent. The dishes tend toward lighter French/Provencal: no heavy sauces, lots of garlic, great crusty bread. The portions are on the small side, but so are the prices. Good to share a few plates. The staff is also small, but very personable. After one visit, they'll remember you next time. All the dishes are good. Favorites includes ratatouille and Spanish octopus in a light crushed tomato sauce.“
“I've been eating at Chef Hannes with family, friends and colleagues for many years and have had many memorable meals there. The fish dishes are delicious, and the daily specials are sublime and made with the freshest ingredients. I'm looking forward to dining at Ches Hannes next week!“
“I generally order Uber eats for my mom and have it delivered, but today, not only had her order delivered, but on the way home, I stopped with my wife and had lunch at the Yellow Vase in Rolling Hills. My wife had the Turkey Club Panini, and I had the California Omelet. My wife had a cappuccino, and I had a black coffee and OJ. The place is quaint and pleasant and the staff is very kind and professional.Recommended.“
“The food is very tasty. Nice French sauces. It is usually not too busy. They have music, small group of musicians on Fridays. Not too loud. Just perfect for conversation.Vegetarian options: Salads, vegetablesParking: Mall parking 3 floorsWheelchair accessibility: Nice wide entry doors.“
“Sweet little café along the popular Hermosa pier. Good pastries and super yummy drinks. I got the Mexican spice hot cocoa and it was super delish. We went early morning and it was misty out. We sat outside. It was a beautiful morning. Super nice staff.“
“came here to check the reviews because I loved this place! it wasn’t busy, and the server was so attentive. one of the workers gave us fresh lemons that they had just picked from a tree in the back of the restaurant. food was great and the atmosphere was so lovely! definitely will be returning! :)“
“Typically wouldn't leave a review for here since every time I've come it's typically nice service, the food is mostly always great as well, and well the vibe is just what you expect at a Mimi's on a Saturday morning. Saying all that, I was so impressed with the way my server was today! He was a younger guy so I figured it'll either be good or bad service. I was wrong, he was beyond good! We went with his recommendation to do the onions and peppers to our breakfast potato & it was delicious. He didn't constantly bug us while we were talking either so that was a nice feeling to not have your waiter make you feel rushed. 5 stars to whoever hired this guy, because you can tell this guy was made to move up. Great job Mimi's ! Omg the most important part our server was Edgar !“
