“Such a pleasant surprise “finding” Massilia hiding in plain sight in Santa Monica. A wonderful blend of European flavors in a setting with a chic vibe. Very reasonable happy hour prices for delicious cocktails and bites. On the dinner menu, pasta entrees (tagliatelle and rigatoni) were both lovely but the true star was the 8-hour lamb shank over pureed potatoes with a Cabernet sauce. It was fall off the bone tender and so flavorful. Our excellent and enthusiastic server, Jonathan, recommended the chocolate mousse for dessert. Heaven in a bowl!!We will be repeat customers, for sure!“
“This was a delightful family experience where we just forgot about issues, laughed, and enjoyed life. Food was so good we threw some elbows, and the wine selection... just look at the picture. All the walls look like this.Very accommodating staff, our experience was fantastic. Parked in the public parking garage and walked a few hundred feet. Atmosphere, quality of service has us wanting to go back and relive the evening.“
“I've wanted to dine here for a while and I finally made it back in June. The intimate dining room has only 5 tables, and a close up view of the kitchen. One of my favorite dishes was the Caviar Deviled Egg, it even had heart shaped waffles on the side! I also enjoyed their pine milk bread and blossom butter that was served with a mushroom broth. There were three main savory dishes. The Red Bream & Scallop "Farci", was my least favorite dish of the menu, it was cooked perfectly, and the sauce looked good, but somehow it all tasted completely flavorless, which was really disappointing. The A5 Wagyu with a ramp stuffed Morel mushroom was amazing, but the main highlight of the meal for me was the Liberty Farm's Duck "Rouennaise". It was delicious and the presentation was really unique. One of the desserts was a cherry sorbet with "dip n dots" which was one of the most flavorful sorbets that i've ever had, and a perfect way to end the meal. This was such a fun and unique experience but it was probably the most expensive 2 star i’ve been to and I don’t think it lived up to the price tag compared to other restaurants i’ve dined at with the same Michelin rating.“
“It's hard to give Le Petit Chez Mimi 5-stars when I give Pasjoli 5-stars. But if you want simple but good French cuisine, in a simple, home-like and charming atmosphere, then this place is for you. Whereas Pasjoli is on busy Main Street in Santa Monica, Le Petit Chez Mimi is located at the storefront of a business park, at the T-intersection of Yale and Colorado. I pass by all the time either on the way to work, or running errands, but this place always looked closed: Only open for dinners Tues-Sun, and brunch on Sundays. Therefore I made an effort to finally try this cute little place with my family. The restaurant, the food and the service is very reminiscent of eating at a local cafe in Paris. You know, you walk around, look around and finally pick a place for dinner, any place, because so many of the restaurants in Paris are good. This is how I felt of my first experience at Le Petit Chez Mimi. Many who dined tonight (Friday night) seemed to be regulars and locals. The service staff dressed casually (blue jeans) and the service was good. Whereas Pasjoli, the wait staff are uniformed and professionally trained - what you expect from a Michelin recognized establishment. With Le Petit Chez Mimi, its simply good food, not particularly IG worthy in its presentation.Surprisingly, the prices were higher than I expected. I guess I was expecting a simpler, quaint French cafe to be more reasonably priced. But I guess this is to be expected for French cuisine. Now for my food review:-Escargot. Not bad. I've had better. I felt it needed salt and more of that greenish garlicky sauce (pesto-like.) Please excuse my lack of knowledge of the correct ingredients.-Onion Soup. Excellent! One of the best French Onion soups in town. The portion size was perfect. Sometimes, the portions are so big, you dont have room for the remaining courses, but theirs was perfect. Nice gooey cheese!-Entrées: the 3 of us had 2 different steaks and one pork chop entrée. Again, all were tasty and the steaks were perfectly cooked, but the pork chop was overcooked. This place isn't Michelin-worthy because of the simple presentation (not much presentation at all.)-Dessert: The Tarte Tatin was excellent. It was like warm apple pie with fresh cold whip creme. It was perfectly spiced, slightly tart, and not overly sweet. Someone posted on Yelp! that this was an "award winning" dessert. Hmm, it maybe?Parking: Plenty of parking. No valet service. Self park at the business park adjacent to the restaurant. Very convenient.Wheelchair accessibility: The manager (owner Mimi?) has mobility requirements (wheelchair) so the place is fully accessible.“
“Went on a Sunday and it was definitely a vibe. I felt like I was at Nikki beach in the south of France. The service was good and the drinks were great. The food was buffet only for Sunday brunch and the buffet was just ok I was not that impressed. If you want to go for a fun bday party or party brunch then it’s definitely a great place to go but for the buffet ehh it needs work. All in all a beautiful restaurant with really nice ambiance and entertainment. I just wish the buffet was better.“
“Rare are the times I leave a review, but this was so great that I had to leave one.A little piece of France in the heart of Santa Monica with super welcoming and available French managers where we chatted for a good time and had good pastries.Very reasonable price, I recommend.“
“We decided to book a room last minute on hotels tonight so for the price I paid it was a good deal. I think hotels tonight and it was around $200. We stayed there while one part of the hotel is under construction but it didn't bother us, although it might've been nice to know ahead of time since the pool was closed. 5 star experience: 1.) The staff: every single person from the valet to check in to restaurant and random employees. For the past 3-4 years it's getting harder and harder to get good service anywhere you go, I haven't had service like this by employees since I stayed at the Ritz Carlton. I hope this message makes it to management/owners because every single employee you had working during my stay blew me away with how great they treated us. We're shocked, in a good way. 2.) The view: beach view. 3.) Location: close to the pier, the beach and many restaurants. Great location! 4.) The Amenities: I took advantage of the gym, the sauna & steam room and it was great and well needed. Things that could improve: 1.) valet was over $50... kind of steep for your guests but it seems like they could make it slightly less. But the Valet guys were ALL amazing. 2.) $12.99 for wifi.... Come on... the wifi doesn't cost anything and we're already paying a resort fee.... Just get rid of that please. Only reason we needed it because reception was poor in your hotel. 3.) Room service prices.... $75 for a Caesar salad and cheeseburger.... Come on you guys gotta do better. At least up the portions or lower the price to justify it because next time I won't be dining in. Conclusion: I will stay here again, can't wait to see it completely renovated. I just might skip ordering room service because of the price. Aside from that I everything else was excellent. The staff primarily. Amazing employees, ALL OF THEM TOO. Which is freakin rare for an entire staff to be amazing.“
“We went to Pasjoli for a special night that had a Thai chef working in the kitchen with Chef Beren. The restaurant just started to do this and they will bring in guest chefs for special meals. It is a set menu and a set price. Although pricey it was an exceptional evening. The food was outstanding! It was a great experience.“
