“Kind of a hole in the wall but the food is good“
“I think this place is very underrated and has a lot of potential. The food is very fresh, high quality, and tastes amazing every time. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better.
If you love Mexican food and mariscos, I definitely recommend giving this place a try. I’ve eaten here more than once and waited to leave a review to see if it was consistent—and it absolutely is. Every visit has been flavorful and satisfying.
Easily a 10 out of 10. This is a must-try hidden gem in Tulare.“

“Ever since I first had California Fish Grill’s fried Swai, I’ve enjoyed eating here. Since finding that they have grilled mahi mahi on the menu, I am loving the place even more. If you have never had mahi mahi, I HIGHLY recommend it. Mahi Mahi is a mild, flaky, white meat fish. It’s from the tropics and, to date, is only wild caught. If you like halibut, you’ll like mahi mahi. I prefer it with the garlic butter as I really want to taste the delicate flavor of the fish. Don’t miss this local Visalia, CA eatery. If you like fish, it’s a must!“

“Excellent seafood! My favorite is the camerones el mojo de ajo (shrimp with garlic & butter). You get a lot of shrimp and it is well prepared.“

“Tried this spot for the first time last night on a whim, and it absolutely delivered.
We showed up around 7:30 thinking they closed at 9, but they actually closed at 8. Even so, they welcomed us in, seated us, and never once made us feel rushed. That alone deserves appreciation—especially knowing what it’s like to try to close down a business properly.
Walking in feels like stepping back into the 90s—in a good way. CRT TVs mounted up high, classic decor. Nothing fancy, but honestly, if it works, it works.
Chips and salsa came out immediately. Chips were hot and crispy, and the salsa had a nice underlying kick. Second round came just as fast.
Now the food.
I ordered the Fajita Mar y Tierra after seeing (and smelling) someone else’s plate. Easily one of the most flavorful Mexican dishes I’ve had in Visalia since moving here in summer 2025. Shrimp, steak, and chicken were all cooked perfectly, each with its own distinct flavor. The peppers and onions were tender and soaked up all that flavor, but surprisingly, the tomatoes were the standout—I don’t even like tomatoes, and I wanted more. Perfectly cooked and charred.
Rice and beans were exactly what you want—well-seasoned and not dry. The guacamole tasted freshly made with just the right hint of citrus. Flour tortillas were clearly homemade and excellent—I got two and immediately wished I had more. Even the side salad came with a house-made ranch that was legit.
My wife had the Burrito Express Con Pollo. It came covered in green sauce—which she normally avoids—but this one changed her mind. She kept saying how flavorful it was and wished there was more of it. The shredded chicken was tender and packed with flavor.
Service was attentive, friendly, and felt genuinely welcoming. It seems like a family-run place, and it shows in the care they put into everything.
Bottom line: Don’t judge this place by the decor. Come for the food. It’s probably the best Mexican food in Visalia.“

“First time to have seafood boil. Had shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn with the garlic butter sayce in it's mildest form. The food was good and it's fun to eat with your hands. The server was nice. The atmosphere was basic, no theme to speak of but comfortable with lots of room. Lots of choices for every seafood taste.“

“We had brunch at The Ranch for our first visit. It has been beautifully remodeled and very cool! There is a main restaurant area, bar area & fireside room to watch the action in the kitchen. Not a large restaurant so I would highly recommend making a reservation. The service was very good! We shared the Pho Ranch Dip. It is an Asian flair on a French dip and best I can recall in a long time. We also loved the French fries. We were on our way to visit friends so it was a lite lunch but very delicious!! Can't wait to go back and experience more! Highly recommend!“

“Local food review: Yesterday was a good day for me with my Chemo treatment so we decided to try Raised Food in Tulare for our first time. It was a very nice experience with very good service, excellent quality food and a wonderful atmosphere. I had the 12 oz Ribeye that was cooked to my liking and Pam's Beef short Rib was fall of the bone and very tasty. If you want a upscale dining experience , this is a wonderful choice. Thank you for a wonderful evening Braised Foods“
