“I came here for the first time after a frustrating morning where my dentist made me wait for an hour and then couldn't even see me, so I was absolutely starving!!!

I ordered the supreme/super burrito ? and a medium horchata, and my food came out incredibly fast! Literally two minutes after I sat down. The horchata was a perfect 5/5, super authentic and delicious. While the burrito looked a bit bigger in the menu pictures, it was so incredibly flavorful and delicious that I didn't even regret the $12 price tag at that point.

The interior of the restaurant is pretty plain and simple, but they have a fantastic salsa bar with really good salsas/sauces. Just a heads up for next time, the menu didn't have prices listed on it, so you have to be a bit wary when ordering. My total came out to around $17 for the two items (crazy) and I think a credit card fee might have inflated it, so I’d recommend bringing cash. Make sure to time your visit right too, because about five minutes after I arrived, the door got packed with the lunch rush.

Overall, the food and speed more than make up for the simple inside, and I will absolutely be back to try other food items. Would just love pricing on the menu because everyone’s trying to budget in today’s presidency (duh).“

The Jamaica drink was delicious as well. Also for the food we got the price was great. The care that this staff takes for every order is genuine and unrepeatable to any other establishment in Visalia. If you’re wondering if it’s that good? “Fast and delicious! This place is right of the freeway and easy to get to. Seating is outdoor and they have a very nice patio set up. Card is accepted. I loved my asada fries, the fry to meat ratio was perfect. My lunch mates said their tacos were five star. Overall this is a great and inexpensive place to stop.“

“We stopped at Chapala Grill while visiting Visalia and absolutely loved it! The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the start.

The bean dip, salsa, and chips were a great way to kick off the meal. The chicken enchiladas were so tender they practically melted in your mouth. Even the beans and rice were amazing, sometimes those sides are an afterthought, but not here!

One of our dishes came with a slaw, pineapple, and salad mix that was something new for me. It was fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to cool down after a few bites of a spicier dish.

We don't get this type of Mexican food where we live, so whenever we're in California, we make sure to enjoy it while we can. Chapala Grill did not disappoint. Great food, great service, and we'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area. A+++“

“Tried this spot for the first time last night on a whim, and it absolutely delivered.

We showed up around 7:30 thinking they closed at 9, but they actually closed at 8. Even so, they welcomed us in, seated us, and never once made us feel rushed. That alone deserves appreciation—especially knowing what it’s like to try to close down a business properly.

Walking in feels like stepping back into the 90s—in a good way. CRT TVs mounted up high, classic decor. Nothing fancy, but honestly, if it works, it works.

Chips and salsa came out immediately. Chips were hot and crispy, and the salsa had a nice underlying kick. Second round came just as fast.

Now the food.

I ordered the Fajita Mar y Tierra after seeing (and smelling) someone else’s plate. Easily one of the most flavorful Mexican dishes I’ve had in Visalia since moving here in summer 2025. Shrimp, steak, and chicken were all cooked perfectly, each with its own distinct flavor. The peppers and onions were tender and soaked up all that flavor, but surprisingly, the tomatoes were the standout—I don’t even like tomatoes, and I wanted more. Perfectly cooked and charred.

Rice and beans were exactly what you want—well-seasoned and not dry. The guacamole tasted freshly made with just the right hint of citrus. Flour tortillas were clearly homemade and excellent—I got two and immediately wished I had more. Even the side salad came with a house-made ranch that was legit.

My wife had the Burrito Express Con Pollo. It came covered in green sauce—which she normally avoids—but this one changed her mind. She kept saying how flavorful it was and wished there was more of it. The shredded chicken was tender and packed with flavor.

Service was attentive, friendly, and felt genuinely welcoming. It seems like a family-run place, and it shows in the care they put into everything.

Bottom line: Don’t judge this place by the decor. Come for the food. It’s probably the best Mexican food in Visalia.“

We were pleasantly surprised they fry their chips in lard so one of our party who has a soy allergy was able to enjoy the chips as well. This is actually a carniceria, mini-grocery store and restaurant. This is for the restaurant.You order your food at the cash register and seat yourself. We were a party of 4. This is a buy-now, pay-later place. Nice old school way. I tried their birria de chivo with a taco al pastor on the side. The bowl was a good size that came with onion, cilantro and handmade tortillas. The chivo was really good. Not too gamey on flavor, tender and easy to pick off the bone. The broth was really good too. The taco came in thr handmade tortilla, so it's a good size. I believe you have an option to purchase it on a non handmade tortilla. The taco itself was decent, nothing to write home about. Coffee is served on hot water and you serve your own powdered coffee with regular cream.Overall, I really enjoyed the birria de chivo. The broth had a nice chile seasoning to it. The plates took a while to get, so be prepared to wait. My friends ordered a menudo and breakfast plates and they enjoyed their food. I recommend checking this place out.“

“This place has been a gem since my partner introduced me to his favorite teenage go to for burritos. The forst time was at the trailer. Now its around the corner from his home. I really enjoy the chicken burrito,tacos and they just put shrimp items. The tostadas de Camaron are so gooddddddd!!!! Im beyond picky when it comes to ceviche. They nailed it and come whenever I need a ceviche kick. Everything is made to perfection and the wait time can be a bit much but honestly its all worth it.
