“We travel throughout California to visit our ʻohana and spend time at the theme parks with our na moʻopuna. Carlsbad is one of those places we return to a few times a year, always fun to explore.
After a long day at Legoland, we were exhausted and hungry. I was craving for some onolicious Hawaiian plate lunch, and if I had to be honest, that can be so risky on the continent. Some places that make Hawaiian food are not always the greatest, although Yelp or other platforms say they are. So, it's really scary, but I am glad we took the chance and ordered through DoorDash because we were also too tired to drive. And OMG, what a surprise.
From the very first bite, it felt like home. The rice was perfect, but the mac salad? HEAVEN...And the BBQ chicken was so soft, tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. You could taste the paʻakai, that unmistakable Hawaiian salt, hitting the palate in the best way.
Mahalo nui loa to Ohana Hawaiian BBQ for bringing authentic meaʻai to the continent. You gave us comfort when we needed it the most.

“Getting to eat here is always a special treat. Our go to is the rib sandwich with Mac and cheese. The food is wonderful. So next time you’re stuck in that horrible traffic jam on the 15. Just hop off at the Pala exit and go past the truck stop. You won’t regret it. That traffic is crazy!“

My son wanted Subway before coming here, but the owner insisted on him trying his food so gave us a taster for my son while my daughter fully enjoyed her amazing steak and rice. “I am a caretaker for an older woman, and she loves good BBQ. However, she is extremely picky, and up until yesterday, we could not find a good BBQ place near her house, going at least 0 for 3.
I looked up BBQ places yesterday, and found this little BBQ joint less than 5 minutes from her house. For less than $20, we split a combo meal with 2 sides.
The tri-tip was the highlight for sure! It was cut super thin, which is good for her since her dentures do not allow her to chew on thick pieces of meat. The flavor was, for me at least, perfecto!
As their primary business is catering, this particular restaurant is only open for takeout on Friday and Saturday, so plan accordingly!!!“

We decided to stop here because we were in the area and have frequented Enzo’s of Oceanside. What the heck…BBQ it is.

Andy, our server was very polite, informative and thorough. A good server. He was on it. Good job.

An appropriate location and good food for us today. Decent classic rock playing and cool decore.

“Decent meat, but not all was good. I'd say it was ranging from okay to good. Good pricing though and delicious appetizers, would go again. The waitlist seemed odd, as we put our names in the system in person but people kept being added ahead of us. Weird with the yelp waitlists, I don't think they should do that.“

“ALOH inside Walmart is the only place that understands The true art of a Hawaiian barbecue!! Their Homemade macaroni salad my go to and it seems like other places I went over to the new Hawaiian barbecue place next to Starbucks off of East Valley Parkway they can’t get the salad right honey. I’m so sorry I tried and I tried. I’d rather drive a little bit further and go over here and get it some real Hawaiian macaronisalad and not something that comes in a jar or too much juice OK God bless y’all.“

“This is the place!!! We eat here couple times a week. Love the bbq and katsu chicken, it’s always perfect!! Try the gravy on the katsu, life changer. Garlic shrimp is life, Teri beef and musubi make my family happy. The Mac salad is 10/10 and the staff cares about your experience! So lucky to have this in our neighborhood!! Ordered the small chicken katsu and a thai Boba tea.
-Small orders come with one scoop each of rice and macaroni salad.
-Chicken was so crispy! Macaroni salad was decent, added some of their spicy chili oil and it was tastier.

Overall small order a good portion size for one person.

Location had lots of parking, inside was clean and the staff was friendly and efficient. Lots of seating inside for a smaller looking establishment.
