“My mom and I took Melting Pot Food Tours’ Old Pasadena Food & History Tour with Jody, and it was one of those experiences that manages to be genuinely fun while also giving you a much deeper sense of a place.

It’s a 3½-hour tour, and there were a ZILLION amazing, delicious bites along the way! Everything from tea and scones to Tibetan, Himalayan, Indian, Syrian, Venezuelan, and so many other incredible flavors. There really was something for everyone, including options for just about every dietary restriction you could possibly have. And I have to say, the Tibetan samosa was quite possibly the best I have ever had!!!

But the food was only part of what made the tour so good.

Jody knows how to tell the story of a place. We learned about Route 66 and so much more about Pasadena’s history, while walking through alleys, side streets and hidden throughways that I never would have found on my own. The connections between the history, the food, the businesses and the people made the whole experience feel like so much more than a series of food stops.

And Jody herself is a huge part of that. She knows these places. She knows the owners. She knows the people and their stories. You can tell these aren’t just stops on a tour for her — there are real relationships there, and she genuinely enjoys introducing you to the people behind these places. That personal connection is what makes this tour so special.

I also loved getting to see what makes Old Pasadena so unique. There is SO much history here, and so many different cultures and stories woven into the neighborhood. Jody brings all of that together in a way that makes you look at the streets around you differently!

The pacing was perfect. My almost 79 year old mom with a recent hip replacement was easily able to keep up. We covered a lot, but never felt rushed, and there was even time for shopping along the way, which my mother loved!

I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience Old Pasadena beyond the obvious streets and tourist stops. Come hungry, wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared to eat, learn, wander, laugh and see Pasadena in a completely different way!!!“

“Actually, this was such a beautiful experience! The water is pure and delicious. Have never tasted water like this before . My daughter found this place. We were only going to star bucks .she said “ mommy look ,let’s go in here” I’m glad I did it was perfect. the vibe was peaceful i didn’t want to leave. Zion the pup was so sweet!! “I pass this darling European style cafe daily walking my grand dog and since I burnt chocolate croissants at home this am, decided to stop in for some for myself, my daughter & grandson.

First I was met by a friendly staff member and a blast of cold air- both so refreshing!
The pastries are made daily and they offer quite an assortment! All beautifully displayed. Bought a vegan one for my daughter, chocolate for my 4 yo grandson & lavender meyers lemon frosted one for myself! So delicious!“

The one with Coconut Cult raspberry yogurt and chocolate mint hints was so refreshing and rich at the same time. The S'mores Smoothie was decadently delicious, just healthy alternative to a shake. “Great staff, first and foremost. Whenever I am in the area and want a protein sweet-treat, I come to this oakberry. It’s kind of expensive so I can’t do it too often, but the unlimited toppings even it out a bit. The people here are fantastic and very kind.
