“We have had excellent meals in the past at the Mountain Room. Sadly, last night's was not one of them. The halibut was far overcooked, the saffron rice was a stuck-together mess, the sauce uninspired. Our other entree, a portobello mushroom burger, was more satisfactory. Our server was attentive. The wine (The Pale Rose) was excellent.”

“What a comfort to be able to get a nice meal walking distance from your hotel room. This is a quiet time of year, but we made our reservations a couple weeks in advance. The atmosphere is very nice, after eating at the cafeteria next door this was a treat, the prices are high, but you're on vacation and it's a splurge. I had the onion soup that want super flavorful, but decent. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, it I didn't like the delmonico potatoes, not cooked enough for me. Good broccolini and the sauce on the steak a red wine reduction was delicious. I enjoyed cheesecake for dessert.”

“Looking at the recent reviews, people are really hating on the temporary buffet-style meals at the Ahwahnee Dining Room, which currently has its kitchen under much-needed renovation. We dined here four times during our recent stay: twice for breakfast and twice for dinner (this was also our first time staying at the Ahwahnee). Our experience was much more positive than many of the other reviews. Maybe it's because we hadn't dined here before and had no preconceived notion of what the food was like pre-construction. For all of our dinners and breakfasts we made reservations in advance on Open Table. Highly recommend doing this well in advance because breakfast and dinner book up fast even if you are staying at the hotel. The main dining room is open again, so the views are spectacular. There is still a little construction going on outside, so you'll definitely see some construction containers and equipment, but as the servers said... just look up! We were excited that every time we were taken to our table, we were seated by a window (we were a part of 2 and most of the window seats are party of 2 tables). The service was excellent, time and time again. There were always 2 servers supporting our table and they were very attentive to making sure our wine and water glasses were full for dinner and that our coffee cups stayed full in the mornings. We brought a few nice bottles of wine with us and their corkage fee is extremely reasonable at $30 (one night they even waived the corkage fee for us). In terms of food - both the breakfast and dinner buffets were good. Would we have preferred to order off a menu? Of course. But given the circumstances of running breakfast and dinner service during a kitchen renovation, they did a pretty great job of serving delicious buffets. For breakfast, we absolutely loved the chicken sausage. It was so moist! And we marveled at the bacon, which they seemed to cook in mass with the perfect crispiness. Honestly we have had terrible bacon at most of the five star hotels we have been to where bacon is being cooked to order. Be sure to order the orange juice too...it is definitely fresh squeezed! For dinner, we took the servers recommendations of starting our meal with soup each night (bowls are brought from the kitchen) - we had a tomato bisque one night and a creamy potato and bacon soup the other. Both were delicious and came with a side of warm bread and butter. From the buffet, we had the caesar salad and dressed it up with some delicious pickled anchovies and croutons. For the mains and sides, they had a full spread - both nights we had slices of prime rib and made sure to cover it in au jus and get a side of both the fresh horseradish and creamed horseradish. Yum! My boyfriend likes meat more well-done, so he asked for the end of the prime rib, not the center cut and the person slicing the meat was able to accommodate. We also tried the shrimp, macaroni and cheese, and vegetable sides each night which were also delicious. Overall we left happy and content. And while some reviews mention that the food is cold or lukewarm, that was not our experience. Everything was warmed properly. We are looking forward to staying at the Ahwahnee again in the future and can't wait to experience their full menu and regular service in the dining room!”

“We were in Yosemite for the long weekend hoping to catch the Firefalls - during the day we took a few easy hikes and ended up near Curry Village at lunch time - we were told that Pizza Deck and Bar 1899 were open and both pretty good - so while the kids stood in line for pizza, hubby and I stood in the short line for food from the Bar. There were a couple tables inside but we were going to also bring in outside food, so we decided to grab a table outside - it wasn't hard, people were moving along when they were done eating - we ordered beer as well - and enjoyed our beer while we waited for our kids and our food. We ordered before our kids but our food took about 25 minutes to come out - the salad was pretty good and as expected, and the ribs were juicy and not over barbequed - pretty tasty - I felt like it needed a side dish, it was more like an appetizer - The bartender took our order, she was pretty busy, but she was still personable - we talked about her cool pinecone bottom tattoo - she got it in Santa Cruz - where my husband and I met - well she was busting her a** in there - Overall a very pleasant lunch”

“Love this spot in the village for a quick and relatively inexpensive meal. During breakfast, biscuits & gravy and breakfast sandwiches are great and hearty. Chili during lunch was super hot and tasty. Not so bad food for being in the middle of nowhere.Parking: Parking can be difficult during peak times like weekends, holidays, and the entire summer.”

“My expectations weren't high, but the Chicken Caprese sandwich was great for lunch after our short hike. But it would not have held up very well & would've been soggy if not eaten right away.I thought the prices at the cafe were reasonable considering you're in a National park, but the grocery store prices were extremely high.We also bought 8 steaks and some other groceries to make for dinner at our cabin. The steaks alone were $163 but we also spent a few hundred on other groceries for a party of 7 for 2 days because we did not plan well. Make sure to grocery shop before heading into the park to avoid paying more than double what you would normally spend.”

“My visit to the Starbucks in Yosemite was genuinely delightful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it perfect spot to enjoy my coffee. Despite the place being quite busy, the staff managed everything with such grace and efficiency. It's evident that they genuinely care about providing a positive experience. I'm giving this Starbucks a solid 5 stars for creating a welcoming environment and nailing the balance between bustling and friendly. Kudos to the team!”

“These tacos hit the spot after a long day of exploring Yosemite. We had all three types and they were all delicious. These are street tacos style so you may need more than you think, which does make it a little pricey but you're a captive audience in the middle of the Yosemite wilderness so nothing unexpected to see some higher prices there.I recommend grabbing some beers from..the convenience store right next door, get some tacos from here, and grab a seat to enjoy the gorgeous surroundings.”

“You may disagree with me, but you gotta' think about where you are and what your choices are and then decide to see the brighter side of things. Sure, this isn't fine dining. But it is consistent. We ate here for a breakfast, a lunch, and 2 dinners. The menu is not extensive. But the burgers are consistent and get you full. The chicken gyro was good, just needed more tzatziki on the side. The fries were great! The breakfast burrito was pretty good, just add some salsa from the communal area (haven't seen this much sharing since before covid!), the pancakes were actually quite yummy! And the basic breakfast was consistent and tasted exactly as it should! No pics of gyro or butgers - you know what they look like lol. We never waited more than 15 minutes, and this was with the line to the door. I don't know how they kept up with all of the guests, but they did - and the guests for the most part cleared out when they were done eating so that people getting their food would have a place to sit down. (It was too cold and rainy to eat outside.) Yes, basically it is a cafeteria, so you can't expect a Michelin star. But between the consistency, the efficiency, and the humor of some of the employees, a great option when staying at the lodge!”
