“This was our very first time visiting Rib & Chop, and Father’s Day felt like the perfect occasion to surprise my dad with finally getting to try it after mentioning it for some time. Unfortunately, while parts of our experience were great, several issues made it less than ideal. ⭐️ The Highlights: First and foremost, our server Max was absolutely SUPERB—kind, attentive, quick, and knowledgeable. The hostess (whose name I sadly didn’t catch) was also wonderful—gracious, helpful, and quick to step in when needed. Their service was ABOVE AND BEYOND was definitely a bright spot of our visit! ⸻ 🚫 The Not-So-Great: Spilling Incident: Another server (a woman with a low bun and a neck tattoo) brought out our appetizers. While handing a plate to my dad, she accidentally knocked over his beer, which spilled all over my mom and caused quite a scene as my mom yelped from how cold the drink was and drenched she became in it. I understand trying to joke about it to lighten the mood even though my mom was clearly upset, uncomfortable, and soaking wet, but the server had the AUDACITY to BLAME IT ALL ON MY DAD! And NOT ONCE DID SHE APOLOGIZE!! THAT was what upset us the most and made this experience unsettling. Max, even though he wasn’t involved and likely didn’t witness the spill, rushed over immediately, apologized profusely, and helped clean up. His professionalism surpassed that of the other server. Mistakes happen—but failing to take responsibility in a service role is disappointing. We seriously considered boxing up our meals and leaving, but my mom encouraged us to stay. Manager Ryan came by while I was in the restroom and apparently apologized and offered to cover the cost of my mom’s dry cleaning. ⸻ Bathroom Issue: While my mom was in the restroom for over 20 minutes trying to clean herself up, I also needed to use the restroom—only to find no toilet paper in either stall. I asked two separate staff members over the course of 10–15 minutes, but no one responded quickly. Finally, the hostess walked by while asking the final employee, and she immediately turned around to handle it herself. She apologized sincerely, and I truly appreciated her urgency and kindness. ⸻ 🍽 Food Feedback: • Steak: I requested medium, but it was served well done and tough. Thankfully, Max noticed and had it remade right away. The second steak was fantastic—juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly. • Rice: Both of my parents ordered the wild rice, but it tasted burnt, like it came from the bottom of the pot… • Appetizers: We tried the Bang’n Salmon and the crab-stuffed mushrooms—both were flavorful and well-seasoned. • Entrees at the table included: • Surf & Turf • Turf & Turf with ribs • Chicken Broccoli Alfredo • Brown Sugar Salmon We also decided to try the carrot soufflé, which is now my dad’s new favorite dish. ⸻ 👏 Final Impressions: At the end of our meal, another manager, Chase, stopped by to speak with us. Despite being new to management, he handled the conversation with poise, professionalism, and genuine care. He informed us that our entire bill had been taken care of, which we were deeply grateful for. ⸻ Overall: While the drink spill incident cast a shadow over our visit, Max, the hostess, and both managers genuinely did their best to turn things around. Some food items were a hit, others missed the mark. I’m not sure the rest of my family will be back anytime soon, but if Max is working, I might give Rib & Chop another try.“

“Great music and service! We sat in the bar area and the waiter was very attentive. We enjoyed chips, salsa, guacamole and tortilla soup along with an order of street tacos. We selected the three chicken tacos and they came with rice and beans. Excellent flavors and we will be back next time we visit the area!“

“This is one of the best experiences I’ve had going out to restaurants. The physical place was very cool and designed great. The menu is awesome and creative. Once the food came it was incredible and far more than I had imagined. I talked with the owner who had a great attitude and you can see the passion he put into all the details as well as every employee and the chef who created this awesome menu and has been there since the beginning 11yrs ago. Very kind eyes and a sincere passion for excellence.He continued to check on us throughout the evening ensuring our overall experience met expectations. Liz was our server. Everything she recommended was perfect! She is knowledgeable, professional yet still personable. My husband and I felt special and cared for. We stepped out of our comfort zone and tried the Elk and Buffalo….definitely going back. The food , service and atmosphere are worth EVERY dollar!“

“As a visitor to Colorado Springs, I’m already missing Shuga’s. I came in for both lunch and dinner during my trip and wished I had time to try the whole menu. Everything was fresh, creative, and full of flavor. The Café Tray—which features the menu highlights—was a perfect sampler. The Cuban Mojo Sandwich and Key Lime Pie were excellent. Cocktails were perfectly balanced. The space itself is as thoughtful as the food. Beautiful art prints by a local artist line the walls, each representing a year of the business. There’s a cozy garden yurt out back that offers additional seating. It’s a unique, welcoming place with real personality. The staff clearly enjoy working together—it felt like a fun, supportive, family-like crew. I was lucky to be served by Missy, who made my day. I chatted with the chef at the bar after his shift; he was totally delightful and he clued me into his favorite local spots. Free street parking was easy to find, and I’d definitely recommend checking out their website—there’s a lot of fun lore behind the place. Everything about Shuga’s is spot-on.“

“Love this place so much! I’m not usually a fan of chain restaurants but my favorite thing about this place is the fact that they source locally as much as they can. We have been here a few times now and every single time it has been great. The food and service are consistently good. Every server we have had was amazing. I used to work in restaurant industry for years so I notice the little things. I love to see multiple managers on the floor talking to customers, refilling drinks, running food. One server I have to point out is Jennifer, she’s never actually been our server but always remembers us, specifically my daughter who was having a meltdown one day and she offered to bring her a bowl of fruit. “Went for Valetines day and was very disappointed. We booked with the manager herself and was told if we did not show we would be charged. We arrived and had to wait 90 plus minutes and they cared less. Beware they added a 3% mandatory hospitality fee and a 20% mandatory gratuity. All in all, they persuaded us not to return. 100% focus seemed to be on the business thier profits and minimal to us the patrons. We cued in the waiting area with others who also seemed to be waiting like us for thier over selling.“

“Me and my man went to lazy dog for dinner last night, the server was super sweet and very attentive despite it being busy. Our server was Jaime and she had not only taken good care of use but everyone else based on the smiles with her interactions with them. My partner’s food came out burnt the first time but Immediately as we mentioned it our waitress notified her boss and had the kitchen remake which came out much better and was able to be enjoyed. Not only did she help us out with the food but offered compensation and was very kind and welcoming to the feedback. “I had the BBQ chicken sandwich. The chicken was fresh, with juicy chunks of chicken breast. I would recommend this place if you're hungry for sandwiches. They have a wide variety of sandwiches on the menu and you can modify any of them. It's themed after marijuana smoking, and it is reflected in the names of the sandwiches and the decorations. So, if you are offended by that, don't go. But, you'll be missing out on some delicious sandwiches. Yum!!“

“It's a small place, but it has some good atmosphere. While I was sitting at the bar, I saw multiple interactions that would suggest regular customers, always a good sign. I got the Appalachian coffee and the biscuits and gravy, and both were good. The service was quick, but I didn't feel rushed. I would recommend trying this place out.“
