“I went here back in September with my friends. I got calamari and shrimp scallion noodles. The calamari was good, but it was kinda dry. I didn’t like the noodles, it just tasted like straight onion. I want to give this place another chance, there are probably better things on their menu. Our service was good, our server was so nice! This place is small and it has a cozy feel.“
“Hidden in the corner, somewhere in Newington. Tokyo Cafe was a pleasantly delicious and wholesome surprise. My partner and I decided to venture out and try somewhere new and we may have just found our new regular spot.The dining room doesn’t have too much seating (6-8 tables max) and I would definitely consider it an intimate but cozy vibe. We frequent sushi of all calibers, this isn’t meant to be compared to Nobu or other establishments of the sort. It is an excellent neighborhood sushi restaurant.The food was fresh and delectable . My partner really enjoyed the Kani Salad as an appetizer. She said it was unique in taste and refreshing. I had a house salad with ginger dressing and the miso soup which was just what I wanted and what you would expect. We also shared the Pepper Tuna Tataki ??? absolutely delightful. I must mention all from the dressing to the consistency of the kani salad, this wasn’t the generic all you can eat, run of the mill spot.The very nice lady that waited on us was very attentive and put care into her work. The Sushi Itamae delivered with a beautiful presentation and construction of the “Sushi Sashimi Combo 4 Us”. We finished the meal off with some fried ice cream and left happy and full. I would recommend this place and we will be returning.“
“I ordered delivery during lunch time. They have some really great lunch special options, so it seemed like the perfect time to try this place. I ordered the beef negimaki bento box which came with soup, salad, a california roll, rice, and some yakitoried veggies. I was able to add one some tempura for 3 dollars extra and I sure did. Everything was absolutely delicious. It came quickly, and was hot. The tempura (two shrimps, a carrot, and a sweet potato) were crispy, light, and delicious. The salad had the classic carrot ginger dressing I love so much. The negimaki was good, the sauce was not too sweet, and the veggies and california roll all tasted great.I would absolutely order here again, the price was reasonable and the food was delicious.“

“Simple amazing! My daughter in-law was getting her nails done near here and wanted to meet for lunch. She has been here numerous times and said it's delicious. Omg she wasn't kidding. I love this more than sushi. I had a bowl with brown rice, salmon, tuna, and lots of topping and sauces. I was full half way through my bowl but I just couldn't stop eating it because it was like an explosion of tastes in your mouth. I know I will be craving this and definitely be back.“

“I live just a few miles away and have for years and this was only my first visit -- we will definitely be back! It's an unassuming storefront in a strip mall near Stop & Shop, but step inside and it's a really welcoming, attractive spot. I took my kids for lunch and we all had great meals. The miso and mushroom soups were flavorful and light, and the salad my oldest son had looked great. I got a sashimi lunch box, and it was perfect. Chef's choice of 9 pieces of sashimi, plus seaweed salad, California roll, rice, 1 shumai and 2 dumplings (gyoza I think?). My son's sushi box had four pieces of sushi, again chef's choice. He was delighted that one was shrimp. My oldest son got the two-roll lunch special and devoured it. We also ordered a special roll to share, which was honestly way too much food -- we ended up taking some of that and several pieces of California roll home. My kids chose the special roll, so it was not as adventurous or spicy as I like, but it was nicely put together and tasty. They insisted on ending the meal with mochi, which was a three-piece order. The flavor options included salted caramel, which was delicious. The place was pretty full for a Monday lunch, and there was a steady take out business the whole time we were there. We will definitely be back for dinner sometime and this will likely become our new sushi takeout place.“
