“My husband George and I frequently go to our "neighborhood" SPOT in Tolland since it opened. It really feels like a home away from home where you can watch a game, collaborate with colleagues over dinner, have a birthday party or little league celebration. It is a place to go for all members of the family for any occasion. The main menu is thoughtful, and we look forward to the weekly specials which are delicious. Prime rib Thursdays is a favorite as well. They have specials on cocktails and mocktails with special touches like cranberries in the ice, or the chocolate drizzle in the Andes martini with whipped creme and Andes mint crumbles. We have not found anything that was not delicious and in appetizing and filling portions. They have adult homemade ice cream to crave! It has a slightly different ambiance in each corner, the sofa lounge area, the seated family dining area, the sports zone covered in big screen tv's and the bar area where you are treated like family and they remember what you like as soon as you sit down. I love their themed special events that pair delicious and unique appetizers, with bourbon, wine, whiskey while sommeliers and chefs discuss the flavor combinations introducing us to tastes that tantalize your whole palate while sharing the history or culture of what you are enjoying. In addition, they have trivia nights, karaoke, an annual car show in the fall, and other seasonal events. In moderate to mild weather, the outdoor covered area is great for listening to local bands and bringing people together. in a comfortable setting. The costs are comparable to other good restaurants, and well worth the experience. If there is any problem with your order (which can happen everywhere), they quickly remedy it. We appreciate the warm welcome every time we come in from the owner and his staff.“

“This food annd atmosphere at this small quaint adorable restaurant is full of love and flavor. It’s very simple place and if you tell the owners and the chefs, your specifics Yeah they make exactly what you ask. They are not trying to impress anybody here. They just wanna make a good meal for somebody whether they’re having a tough day or coming home from work or providing for a family. I’ve been eating this cooking for so many years and a lot of the dishes here you can’t find at any restaurant. It is something that Mom would make for you at home. The owners here are hard-working people, and a lot of people that come and try to take advantage of their kindness. We all have to help each other and support each other‘s business.“

“We stopped into Cooley’s Kitchen while visiting family in Connecticut, and somehow it already feels like part of “home” for us. 🧡🐾 Jen helped us find a table near the back during dinner rush, which ended up being perfect. Low traffic, quieter, and right by a beautiful sunset. As disabled guests with a power chair, sensory overload can happen fast for us, especially in busy restaurants. Whether intentional or not, both Jen and Aaron seemed incredibly aware of the environment around us. Several times when the sun started shining directly into our eyes, one of them would naturally step into the light while checking on us so we could keep enjoying our cheeseburger grinder without getting overwhelmed. Small thing maybe, but it mattered a lot to us. What stood out most was how human everything felt. Not forced “customer service.” Real care. Jen sat and talked with patrons and you could immediately tell this is a place locals genuinely love. Friends, families, regulars. Everyone seemed comfortable there. They checked in with us based on timing and body language, not because some policy told them to stop by every few minutes. Even the thumbs up from across the room felt personal and warm. We had a chance to talk a little about the restaurant too. Hearing that this was Aaron’s dream and that they’ve been building it together for the last two years honestly made the experience even better. You can feel the passion behind the place. Aaron being a chef and Jen helping build the community side of it makes the whole restaurant feel alive in a way chain restaurants never do. Every time we come to Connecticut, we stop here…usually more than once. Truthfully, places like this are part of why we’ve started looking at Ellington as somewhere we could someday call home, even all the way from Iowa. Good food matters. But being seen as human matters more. Cooley’s Kitchen gave us both. 🧡🐾“

“The last few weeksI have ordered fish and chips and 4 large pieces and nicely cooked french fries. 6/17/2026 I ordered the same got 3 pieces the fishwas so dry and cooked too long you couldn't eat around the edges too hard, th french fries were over cooked to some were burnt. this was a take out. this has happened a couple times. then no salad or bread in the order. so we didn't get the whole order. I love there food but and people so we are going to try one more time.“

“Our recent school staff's Christmas celebration was an amazing success due to the wonderful amenities provided by this establishment. Their service staff were so attentive to everybody's needs and their courteous service made me feel right at home. Let's not forget the delicious food served in their buffet line! The buffalo wings, drumsticks, and pulled pork were so delicious, it was impossible to resist countless returns to the buffet line. The space that my school was allowed to use was adequately spacious and comfortable for the group size of over 40 in attendance. There was even space available for a small musical ensemble to perform and dance floor to jam to the music. Restroom facilities were kept in utmost state of cleanliness! Hops44 is certainly a place to go to with family or for special celebrations. I'm grateful for the positive experience your staff was able to provide and for the delicious food served at this restaurant. Keep up the awesome work You're doing!“

“My first time here! I will be trying to frequent here more often because it was great! I got the steak, egg, and cheese! I also ordered a hash brown, the nice employee there asked me if I wanted the hash brown in the sandwich (?!) I said sure and MAAAAN that was the right call, 10/10. Bun was toasty and soft and the hash brown added a GREAT crunch that made the entire thing so good. The steak on the sandwich was delicious too, and the sandwich came on that cool swirly looking bread. A really awesome stop for me after having rode my bike a bit! Can't wait to come back!“

This evening my wife and I decided to dine in and the experience was better than expected! We had Samosas, Thai noodles, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Tikka Masala, and Naan. The service was friendly and attentive. The owner/chef came out to our table to ask how everything was. What I told him is what I'm telling all of you. This is the best Indian food I've had to date! I have a strong culinary background and highly recommend you put this place on a short list of great food destinations! We got two General Taos combos and an order of crab Rangoons and everything felt very fresh and handmade, not frozen. The price was reasonable as well! The decor is a little dated so if classier atmosphere is what you're looking for go elsewhere. Hot and sour soup is always excellent.The menu prices have gone up a little (about 50¢ more per entree type item) and the hours a different now too. They are only open on Tuesdays in December. Otherwise they are closed on Tuesday.Good Chinese, very friendly, very fast. The prices are reasonable and you get a good amount of food. I find it better than the other Chinese restaurant Hang's in Stafford.Be aware that there is no indoor seating. There's some picnic tables in the grass but appears to be mostly take out.“

“I met a friend on 8/13 at 12:30 for a nice GF lunch. I was eager to try their new GF menu as they are so close to me it would be nice to be able to frequent it. But, I cannot comment on the food because the service at the almost empty bar was terrible. The bartender was rude as she basically tossed a menu onto the bard when I finally got her attention long enough to ask for one, she never acknowledged us what-so-everand served people who came in after us. We were there for 17 minutes and not a smile or one single word from her the entire time. We walked out, she saw us, and still not a word from her. I wouldn't go back if they don't know how to train their employees with common courtesy and knowlege on how to treat their customers.“

“My daughter and I stopped here on our way back from a UConn tour - I’m vegetarian and the Mediterranean pasta was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had - highly recommend!!! “my goodness! still savoring my gorgonzola steak salad from last night... was a special on the menu...served with balsamic dressing...I opted for Bleu cheese dressing instead...I get this everywhere, when possible and WITHOUT A DOUBT THE ABSOLUTE BEST steak gorgonzola salad I have ever had! The decor is a little dated however we have the nicest waitress Natasha who made the evening so great. She was very prompt and friendly and really funny. I saw some of the previous reviews as we were stepping in and was apprehensive about the food but we had no issues with the food or service. Everything was served hot and our server lady was gave us friendly and quick service. We went to Japan earlier this year and felt the restaurant did a decent job with the karaage and ramen - we will return!“
