Restaurantji's Windsor guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“First time visitor ( 11/26/2023 )--ordering was a breeze, atmosphere is good and the aroma of the food is is awesome when you walk in... ( in other words it was a wicked good scent).anyhoo. our food was promptly made and it tasted very very good... and the guacamole was YUUUUUMMMMY!!!!!!!i highly recommend Moe's, specially if you are looking for tasty food fast...we will be going back againVegetarian options: lots to choose from .. and tofu is on the listDietary restrictions: i am sure you can find gluten free hereParking: easy peasy parkingKid-friendliness: well the kids that were in there enjoyed their mealWheelchair accessibility: very easy access“
“Such a cute little diner where I wouldn't expect one. My partner and I stumbled upon this place while looking for a Sunday date while I was in town. We ordered large milkshakes, nachos, I ordered the shrimp quesadillas, they ordered the brunch combo. Let me tell you that was so tasty! We could barely touch our actual meal after half the milkshake and almost finishing the nachos. The staff was excellent and were super accommodating even though we had to wait a little. Do not walk away from a place like this just because of a wait. The milkshakes were gorgeous and the food was enough for two meals each while staying affordable. I absolutely recommend this cute little diner.“
“Quaint spot with authentic Mexican food. Pricing is good and portions are large. The staff was great. They were attentive to us and helpful with ordering.Parking: Parking is located in front, the back lot, and on street.Kid-friendliness: They offer a kids menu.“
“The food is amazing, let me tell you how flavorful the shrimp was.. I only ate one empanada and shrimp taco and was full but it didn't go to waste believe that I had to share this with the fam. I'm giving this place a solid 8.7. Only issue is that they only accept cash and they close at 8, but they have very good customer service. Look at the plating presentation even tho it's a to go order they take their time out for each order.“
“Good food in little old Enfield. Acapulco serves up the Tex-Mex cuisine that's evolved from Mexican, Texan, Californian, and other influences. Certainly not "authentic Mexican," the food is familiar and comforting. The food is much milder and less aggressively spiced than Tex-Mex closer to the Mexican States, that's probably quite pleasing to most customers in Enfield. The service is always helpful and pleasant. When we come into town and want some quality Tex-Mex comfort food, Acapulcos is at the top of our list, and they always make us very happy.“
“We tried this place based off the photos and recommendations from the locals. The portions are not the same.. The burrito mostly rice, wouldn’t kill to throw some veggies in there like grilled onions, peppers, etc. and the street corn while it was very tasty looked like a baby cob. Will try it again because it’s pretty good for Mexican food compared to other places in the area.“
“Excellent food with interesting and delicious flavors. Everything doesn't taste the same like some Mexican restaurants. The staff is friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable and the food was ready quickly. I would definitely go back.“
“This place is one of my favorite restaurants to go out with the family enjoying good atmosphere food and pleasant service. This place is one of my favorite restaurants to go out with family enjoying good food, atmosphere and pleasant service.“
“Delicious tacos, quick and friendly service. Online ordering is slightly confusing, but the servers are very helpful. Not terribly expensive, especially considering the area and how good the food is.Vegetarian options: There's a cauliflower taco, a mushroom taco and falafel taco. My brother is vegan and he loved all of them!Wheelchair accessibility: On the ground floor and surrounded by well maintained sidewalks. Aisles between tables are thin, but should be able to fit a wheelchair.“
“Have been there a few times, and this was not my best time. Too crowded and the food took forever and when we got it it was cold. personally, I don't like cold food. but because every day is not the same I will go back and try it again.“
“Have gone twice now and both times have been awesome! First time I tried the steak burrito and second time the carnitas rice bowl. Both had great flavor. The restaurant is like Moe's or Chipotle but has way more options and toppings to choose from. Definitely recommend!“
“I can't say what I like best, because it is all delicious. I usually get the enchiladas huertenas because I can't decide if the mole, red sauce, or green sauce is better; they are all equally wonderful. So are their tender, flavorful tamales. even their chips & salsa are a cut above. Pickup during the pandemic is fast and painless, which we appreciate.“
“We had the salsa and chips for the complimentary appetizer and my wife had the fried red snapper whole fish and I had the cod. Tacos with the salsa rice and salad they were both delicious and we both had the house margaritas with our meals which were humongous. Our host gave us a complimentary dessert which was choirs with chocolate sauce. We will defiantly be back to try their other choices. Thank you Miguel for an excellent meal.“
“Nice place! Very authentic Mexican both in ambiance and the food. We had chicken quesadillas and carne asada tacos - they were perfect. Great taste, hot and plentiful. The server was very friendly and attentive to us the whole time. We were traveling through and found them on Yelp. Excellent choice!“
“I first learned about this place on Facebook and then a friend of mine had the empanada tacos and so I couldn’t wait to try them. They were so freaking delicious! Hubby and I DEVOURED them! They were unbelievably good. We had the birria tacos as well - my only issues is that they give you a small salad dressing container of consommé, where other places give you at least 4-6 ounces. The meat was extremely favorable! We had chicken and steak empanada tacos and my hubby had a custom steak and cheese wrap and the steak was seasoned so beautifully. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Staff was awesome as well! The space is kind of small, so hoping they are able to grow and expand. Can’t wait to visit them again!“
“The food was TOP NOTCH! Never have had a bad experience in this restaurant since I started going here 3 years ago. The pupusas are to die for, and the tacos are amazing!!!! There’s chips and salsa when you go in and it’s all fresh. The one thing I would suggest is the atmosphere. Maybe better lights, or updated decor, but regardless the service and food is 100/10! Thank youuuu!“
“Each time we’ve ordered from this little gem we’ve been so satisfied with the great food and really quick service! I wish this amazing taqueria was right next door though! My husband is headed over right now for a large order so we can enjoy the leftovers!“
“The BEST manager and staff! They are all so friendly and helpful. Tony and the crew are always on point! We love getting the Pork Pastor Phorrito, Shrimp Pho and Beef Quesadilla. One of the top Mexican restaurants in Glastonbury. Thank you so much we will be back again soon! ?“
“It was a good time with my wife for Valentine's Day. They accommodated us last minute with a very busy night and we had a table in the back. I understand that it was Vday so I will give the service some grace, it was very busy in there, wait was a little long for food, but the overall experience was GREAT. Food is delicious, come with an appetite, and be ready to take food home. The waitress was checking in a lot but she was only stalling because the night was busy and she knew the food was taking long. She still asked what we needed and was very supportive throughout the process. I would definitely go back. Popular restaurant in a popular area, so I would still recommend making reservations before dining. Won't be my last time returning... The person next to us had the short ribs, when it came out I told my wife I will order that next time lol. El Santo is a beautiful place.“
“Out-of-this world.I've done my fair share of traveling, and am ecstatic to be able to say that my hometown's got a truly high-quality, quick Mexican restaurant to rival SoCal Mexican joints.Sayulita on 17's always nice, but the consumer's not always looking for a $30/person full-service meal, and Glastonbury finally, truly has something special for a quick Mexican restaurant. The first notable thing that popped out to me, before I even talked to anyone behind the counter, was the price.A 3-meat, no-holds-barred, full-9-yards burrito is $14 pre-tax. Extra meat is only a dollar surcharge.I ordered a pretty normal burrito - rice, black beans, pulled pork, sour cream, cheese, queso (yeah, that's triple dairy, I'm here for a good time), jalapeños, corn, and pico. They have a small entreé selection, or you can choose to draw from the Chipotle DIY-bar philosophy and make your own monstrosity, as I chose to do.The burrito was well-wrapped, and came with a fridge drink (notably, the drinks fridge contains a majority of Jarritos flavors - seriously, I think there's 8 different ones in there - I'm going back today, 19 March, will update this review.). There's your standard Coca-Cola products on fountain, and also a couple of import Coca-Cola products in the fridge. Y'know, the nice glass bottle stuff. That burrito had something magic to it. Dense, fresh, and the closest thing we've got in town to authentic Mexican for less than a twenty. Everything meshed perfectly, and the taste reflected it. Meat was perfect, all toppings were exactly as they should be, and for a moment all is right in the world.Seriously, this place has something special - the Moe's location that it replaces may soon be forgotten about. If this RI-based chain can remain as good to everyone as it was to me, then local fixture status is fast approaching for Baja's.10/10. Chipotle lies awake at night thinking about this place.Vegetarian options: Meat is not obligatory, non-meat options are plentiful and delicious. Everything you'd see at Chipotle, plus a bunch you wouldn't.“
“The experience at 1001 was incredible, we were there to celebrate my sister's birthday with about 10 people, each of us ordered different typical Mexican dishes, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, soda, water that comes with the house, it is a charming presentation. The prices are very affordable, most are under 20 dollars. The place is well located, it has free parking, a green area where you can eat outside with a view of the main avenue. The attention to service was most attentive.Parking: No warm or any inconvenience when parking. It has parking in the front area for two hours.Kid-friendliness: Children are allowed. It has all the accommodations for children/high chair.“
“The food was hands down amazing. Wasn't too busy when we but the waitress can be hard to find at times. I do plan to return many more times.Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian I had now problem finding something to eatParking: Restaurant is located in a small plaza plenty of parking.“
“This was only our 2nd time here and both visits were very enjoyable. Their salsa, served free with chips, is very good. Lots of cilantro and just the right amount of heat. We have had fish tacos, street tacos, shrimp tacos and a combo meal and really liked everything. I typically will leave my Spanish rice because it's usually meh, but Frontera's rice has something different and is so good. Food presentation is super nice, service has been very good and the decor is really nice. We will definitely be back.⁴“
“I tried their breakfast burrito and churros. The burrito was flavorful and had a good amount of food. I think they should give sauce with the burrito. Very nice young lady who took my order. The churros were delicious. This is take out only, I recommend calling ahead to put your order in. As most items are made to order.“
“We love Toro! Casual eatery, with tons of options, including for kids and vegetarians, and the whole place is gluten free. The burrito has some kind of cooked cheese on the outside and is to die for. They also make a mean mezcal margarita, would recommend.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free“
“Hands down the best Mexican food I have had in CT. My husband and I ordered the elote( off the Cobb) and the steak burrito. Everything was was seasoned to perfection and tasted made to order. Bonus: the customer service was superb. Can’t wait to visit again!“
“My current top hidden gem for amazing and authentic Mexican food. Hidden in La plaza del Mercado, this spot has the most amazing tripe soup, where the tripe was properly cleaned, no funky taste/smell, cooked perfectly tender. Great caldo de res as well, the meat was tender and had a strong beef flavor, soup was light and refreshing and the veggies provided a nice natural sweetness and the squash was incredible inside. Their tacos are great as well and their pricing is a bargain and their portions are quite good.“
“This restaurant is in a plaza, but it's really good authentic Mexican food. The salsa is so fresh, the jalapeno cheese dip was one of the best Ive had, the chicken soup was great very fresh, everything was great, and the Margaritas were very good as well. I will definitely be back to try more items off the “
“The tacos are fire!!! Everything is fresh and flavorful. 100000% enjoyed the quality of the food and pleasant service. The people running this truck KNOW what they are doing. However, my only reason for not giving 5 stars is that I find them to be pricey. There are other options in the city that are just as great at a more reasonable price. I still highly recommend them for the quality food but the cost adds up super quick. Last time we had a craving and stopped here, they wanted to charge $35 for 10 tacos. Another taco spot I love charges $25 for the same 10 tacos. For the prices, I'd only go here if I'm buying for just me or in a pinch for something fresh and healthy.“
“I absolutely love the tostada's. I tried the regular tacos the first time they were absolutely delicious so I went to order them again and I ordered them to go...when I got home and bit into a taco I'm telling you I never spit something out so fast. That taco was all wet and it really ruined my experience of getting anything with a flour tortilla that isn't fried. The texture of the wet taco was enough for me to never ever order them again however I will say that they have good tasting taco meat just maybe go with a burrito or something cause the tacos just weren't that great. Their churros are absolutely perfect. Definitely get one or 3.“
“Agave is one of my favorite bars in Hartford! There are so many things to love. First, I love their happy hour specials (both food and drinks). Second, I love their Sangriarita and any flavored margaritas! They will even let you mix flavors, I recommend mixing mango and guava! Third, I love their chicken chimichanga, it's my go to meal every time. Fourth is their endless chips and salsa. Fifth, it's a great restaurant or bar to go to before or after any event at the XL Center. Sixth, I enjoy their decor, it has a great welcoming atmosphere, including fun music. Last but not least, they love any excuse to celebrate. They will have drink specials for days such as national tequila day which are always fun to attend. Check this place out for yourself!“
“We visited this weekend and we thought it was pretty great!! The menu is huge and it actually has a lot of American dishes available which surprised us. The outdoor patio is covered and a nice added bonus, the inside looks very colorful and spacious but we ate outside. Just like most Mexican restaurants they give you complementary chips and salsa- I’m picky about my salsa and theirs passed with flying colors. Very traditional, refreshing and delicious. We also ordered queso, it was a very thick heavy queso, similar to Frontera’s if you’ve ever had it. You get a decent portion, with only two of us eating we took about half home to enjoy later. My boyfriend had the fajitas which he said were great, and I ordered the shrimp tacos. My tacos were very good, but they had the same peppers and onions filling that came with the fajitas, so to me they felt more like shrimp fajitas, however still delicious, would order again. They didn’t have a drink menu printed yet but I’m always looking for great margaritas and this place does it right. Their house margarita is authentic, not sweet at all, with a good kick. I also tried a flavored one, it was a little sweet for me so I’d stick with the house next time or ask for a little less flavor. We are excited to get back and try some different things soon.“
“We were in Hartford for the weekend, and were hungry for lunch as we were heading out of town. We looked for something interesting on yelp, and found the Mercado. We went in, and went to the last counter down the line, as they had these amazing Columbian Tamales. I had never seen such big and round tamales. They are to die for. Perfectly cooked, well spiced, and just simply delicious. Went very well with the fried plantains. Very much enjoyed.“
“On a scale of 1-10, this food truck is an 11. We visited on a weekend they were serving at a brewery and I am so impressed! The servers were so friendly! And the food was outstanding. We tried the birria tacos, shrimp quesadilla, carne asada tacos, and the churros. Everything was so amazing. The sides and sauces were so fresh. I would literally seek out where this truck is just for the food. Highly recommend!“
“What's not to love? The staff was great, super hospitable, knowledgeable and just really warm engaging people. As for the drinks, completely on point, everything drink and food wise is made from scratch. Great food and drinks and is definitely worth another trip to. Extra points for the building looking like it was a ho-jos in its former days.“
“We love this place! Authentic Mexican food and restaurant. People usually order out so we love coming here and enjoying the place with our daughter who LOVES the food. the Young lady who owns/cooks is very nice to our family. We just love good Mexican food!“
“I just love Salsa Fresca. The West Hartford location is always clean, I've only had friendly and helpful service, the food is always fresh with plentiful protein options, toppings and sauces to choose from, and, every meal is ALWAYS delicious. I literally have not had a bad meal at Salsa Fresca. Everything truly is fresh, and you will taste the difference between their food and the competition. Each meal also comes with a small bag of chips and salsa. Make sure to sign up for their rewards program! You will be back again and again!“
“The food was absolutely amazing. I am originally from the West Coast and have been missing authentic tacos. We drove 40 min for these tacos and it was completely worth it. The service was absolutely amazing and the dining area was decorated nicely. 100% recommend“
“I'm grateful that a random craving and Google search led us to this lovely establishment! It is such a cute spot!! Everyone is friendly, full of smiles and jokes!! But y'all... THE FOOD..... THE. FOOD!! Is so good and flavorful. You don't even need the house made salsa, guac and sour cream but they sure don't take away from how fresh and delicious everything is. It really feels like someone's abuelita was in the kitchen working some magic. I tore those tacos up when we got home. Sorry I was so involved with my tacos that I forgot all about taking a picture. They hooked us up!!! I'm already planning a return trip!“
“W.Hartford, CT.Visiting a friend, stopped for some eats.Very friendly gals-Gina and Alise. Great job, ladies!!Vegetarian options: Lots of veggies. Not sure if the beans are veganKid-friendliness: Very good atmosphere good atmosphere for kidsParking: It's a not directly in front of the store“
“Hands down one of my favorite places to eat. The food is amazing (really, really amazing) and the employees are equally impressive. As a lifelong Chipotle fan, I converted to Hot Head immediately after the first time I went. I am always appreciative of the kindness of their employees (especially Avery, who recently completely turned around a stressful day). I’ve been coming here for years and don’t have a single bad word to say.“
“Let's Taco Bell is a really awesome Taco Bell the staff are really friendly if there's a problem they promptly let you know what's going on with your food and I had just tried the breakfast menu for the first time a couple of days ago and I have to say it's honestly better than the original menu in my opinion I still love their tacos and burritos for lunch and dinner but they're breakfast stuff is on point.“
“Haven't been back in 2 yrs. No worries it was excellent then and with updated menu, excellent today. We ordered quesadilla appetizers. First order of quesadilla was burned on top and was delivered by whom I think was the boss. As she delivered it she said it was not cooked as it should and asked if she could make another. Absolutely, never in my 70 + yrs has someone been gracious as a host to know what to do. We had the Huasteca sampler. To us when not sure, go for the sampler you won't be disappointed. Wait and service staff very attentive. Beers, cold.We will be back.“
