“Recently had dinner with friends and family. We had made a reservation so We were seated right away. Waters and hot bread were brought immediately to Our table while we waited for our cocktails. I had a dirty martini that was chilled to perfection, baked stuffed shrimp. Friends had the sole and cod both were delicious. All in all we enjoyed purr night out and highly recommend dining here.“
“From the jump, had a good feeling. The waitress wasted no time, we were served coffee and water fast. I got my usual, biscuit, sausage gravy, lightly scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, and wheat toast. Everything was cooked perfectly and high quality and perfect quantity - i was hungry. Deb got a bacon, fried egg, cheese, on hard roll, corn muffin grilled and buttered perfectly. She raved, very pleased. The owner spoke with us about his Yankees/ red Sox display, there's a story. “First time at this local Winsted establishment and very impressed. We arrived just after 11 AM which is when they take down the breakfast menu so we were only exposed to their lunch offerings - ended up taking their pulled pork BBQ sandwich and their tomato bisque soup - both very much to our liking. Coffee was nice and hot, service prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly. Decor and vibe are great. They go to a lot of trouble to use local ingredients with a farm-to-table ethic where possible. They make their own potato chips - very good. We will definitely be back and will definitely recommend to folk visiting with us from out of town.Street entrance has steps - we had crutches and were able to easily enter using their side/kitchen entrance. Wheelchair would have been very tricky.They have outside seating and various separate spaces inside.“
“My husband and I love stopping in here for an occassional weekend breakfast/brunch. Staff are very friendly and make us feel at home. There are so many wonderful options for meals or small items, and the portions are a pretty good size! I always leave here feeling full and ready to tackle the day! Oh...and my husband loves it too!“

“The service was fast and friendly. The food was prepared very well. Fish and chips were light and crunchy, very tasty. If you like it hot, the jerk chicken was a flavor bomb. Only issue is both plates were missing the cole slaw. Definitely worth checking it out.“

“I've been going for karaoke night every other Wednesday... Kelli (Kellioke) has a lot of songs, including recent ones, and she does a great show. Nina (server at the bar) is fantastic. The bar is quaint and historic, and there is a cute outdoor seating area. Stop in sometime!“
“We had an overall awesome experience. The “plain jane” mac and cheese was so cheesy, a big portion and I loved the bread crumbs. My fiancé got the Mac Daddy burger which has pulled pork and mac and cheese on it, he loved it. What really made it such a good experience was our waitress. I have never had such an attentive, polite, and friendly waitress before. The moment we finished our glass of soda she was there asking if we would like a refill. “Nice atmosphere with friendly staff and patrons. Food is a notch up from usual bar/tavern fare as orders are prepared individually on a grill behind the bar. Have had numerous burgers and they are quite juicy while prepared as ordered. Fries are crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle. My wife says the crispy chicken sandwich is the best she's ever had! Oh, the beer selection is adequate and cold. What more do you want? Torrington's version of CHEERS!“
“No restaurant can be everything to everybody. There are restaurants others rave about that personally I don't care for. We've been to Good Friends a number of times and we plan to keep coming back. For us it's been 5 stars all the way. If I ever become a morning person I'm definitely going for breakfast!“
“Great place, definitely like your 2nd Home with the couches, fireplace and games. Would totally visit again, unfortunately not close to my 1st home. Great food with many options, only marked down because of nothing traditional on the menu which is good and bad. Can't always do the same burger and fries kind of thing.“
