“This was my husband’s and I first time here. Great experience! The food, service and atmosphere were all amazing. As was our server and order taker Judy. She was so great. Made sure everything was good more than once, made we had everything we need and want. Judy has great knowledge of the menu and great suggestions. We will absolutely be back to this wonderful and comfortable establishment.
Also I had my first poached egg here today and I think this may be my new favorite way to have egg. Thank you!! “

“Went there for lunch...we had both specials...broccoli abd mushroom flatbread and clams over linguini...my husband was in heaven with the clams. This is one of if his favorite dishes and this was a top 10 rating. The place was super clean and friendly. We will be back! A 10 rating...5 stars x2!“

Pleasant and low key server. Perfect Saturday night supper. Not cheap eats anymore but moderately priced night out for two.“

“I drive a considerable distance just to come visit Bobbi the bartender. She’s the best around! Funny, fast, excellent. It’s also hard to find such a welcoming fun crowd and cheap drinks anywhere else. The new owners are regularly around and you won’t have to look hard because they’ll greet you with a smile. “I was recently there for dinner with my wife . Food was good , service was excellent and the entire staff could not have been more accommodating and we interacted with a number of them . Nice decor and spoke about coming back in summer months as the venue would be great . Unfortunately we will never go back . When I got the bill I saw that they charged me 75 cents for mustard that I requested for my deluxe burger , I was infuriated . The catsup was free but was blown away by a charge for mustard. Did not complain or even mention it . It was minor on a $60 bill plus a 25% tip . But the fact that someone would nickel and dime you like that said I will take my business elsewhere . Can you imagine doing that?“

“3 of us came to watch my granddaughter play in a basketball tournament at SCSU. We had Googled 'dive bars' on the way. We were not disappointed. The neighborhood atmosphere was evident. From the 3 friendly patrons who greeted us to the genial bartender. A 'Cheers' atmosphere. The 'melt in your mouth' burgers were the best ever. And we were pleasantly amazed with the bill! A definite place to return.“

“The day was perfect. They do a great job getting things right, we had almost 200 guests. I was so happy with our choice. We took a chance and got lucky and had a summer like day in May. But the tent and bar area are lovely as well..it was a wonderful place for a wedding reception that fit the outdoor/garden aesthetic. Anna is awesome as a coordinator! She is busy but knows what she is doing. Five stars for sure!“

“Came on a monday night for trivia, and we’ve never been before. Safe to say it was a fun place to be and exceeded our expectations. Limited food menu, so we ate before, but we did consume the fresh (free) popcorn they had. Pitcher of a lite beer was $15. The Bar, looks like a scene out of Hogwarts, dark, funky candles, old wooden tables with names carved in them, and definitely historic. Its a good thing we arrived a bit earlier for 6pm Monday night trivia as it was crowded, lots of Yalies there too.“

“We hadn't been here since in changed names/owners a few years ago. Four diners ordering 4 completely different meals - it was hard to choose which one we liked best. Starting with the street corn dip and poached pear; both were a hit, but the party was divided on whether or not they would have liked the pear served warm (it was served cold) and filled with honey mascarpone and lots of pistachios. We moved onto the main courses of chicken cutlet with mashed potatoes; steak with truffle fries; orecchiette with broccoli and sausage; hamburger with fries. Everything was cooked to perfection (steak medium rare, chicken crispy and not at all dry, burger medium with just a hint of pink in the center.) The drinks were creative (did not skimp on the alcohol!) and plentiful, refilled quickly by our attentive server. Desserts as always tend to make or break a meal; these desserts did not disappoint. Banana tres leches cake, Amaretto crème brulee and the special cookie and ice cream combination along with coffee and digestif. A special treat for the evening - Live entertainment in the bar area. Not too loud, we could still have dining room conversation over the music, but found ourselves singing along to most of the tunes. There is definitely something here for everyone!“

There is Comedy Night on Thursdays and a DJ and Karaoke on Fridays. The entertainment is top notch in this safe venue where the mature can relax and enjoy themselves comfortably.
