BRIAN was the bartender when I came in. He was super welcoming and had great small talk. As someone who's never been here, he treated me like a regular.

CHARLIE, who prepared the food, also came out when he had time and was a pleasure to chat with. The food he made was really good.

The environment is what I look for in a bar. If I lived here, this would be my regular spot.. It's refreshing to find small places like this, where people care and build a welcoming environment. I'd come back, NO QUESTION! Cheers to another late work day!“

“I have hosted two parties at McCully's in 2018 for corporate functions. Nick rocked both functions with excellent service, reasonable pricing and flexibility. The relaxed atmosphere allowed everyone to kick back, laugh, sing and dance all while eating good bar food. The second party was in May with an expanded menu, my favorite new item was the mahi mahi tacos. Our bartenders Alice and Meredith were EXCELLENT! They had everyone laughing and engaged, mixed drinks quickly and deliciously and pouring one of their 40+ selections of craft beer. “Enjoyed my birthday tonight with family and friends. Grew up in Newark and have never eaten here. It did not disappoint. Love the history and the ambience. Our waitress, Piper was phenomenal, .... friendly, accommodating, and very attentive. The food was perfectly portioned and all tasted great. The soft pretzel was wonderful. The Brussel Sprouts was excellent and the short ribs were tender and flavorful. The apple cider mule was a perfect drink to top it all off.“

They seem to maintain control over liquor sales in a part of Main Street at the intersection of Chapel which seems to be the worst in the City. Maybe they had one and we didn’t realize but we had to keep leaving the room for drink service. But seriously SO much fun! 10/10 experience.
