“I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. The waffles were also very tasty and soft. The strawberry butter mixed with their signature hot sauce was also pretty good. Alicia was my server. She was such a doll :) Her knowledge of the menu is impeccable and she took very good care of me. If you are in the Newark area and would like some tasty and quick diner food, go there & ask for Alicia <3 Thanks Alicia will be there again real soon !“

“Unequivocally, the best halal food you can get here! Their white sauce, that you can buy hand-made by the bottle, is the best we’ve tasted at a halal store/food-truck/cart. If you like middle eastern food, even a little bit, or kids that just likes French fries, don’t hesitate to order from here! The food, flavors, portion-size, and price can’t be beat. They encouraged us to customize the food any way we wanted! So, also great for picky kids.

The kitchen & store was/is impeccably clean. The staff are so nice! When you enter, the staff instantly treats you like habibi—it feels like being welcomed into a home, and they truly care about you!

Our party remarked both at how incredibly reasonable the price was and how amazing the food was. My brother pointed out that when I took my first bite, my eyes literally go wide & lit up. Our party kept remarking on how good the meal was for the rest of our day.

I ordered the chicken gyro w/ fries and customized it with Tika chicken. We also got the tilapia gyro, falafel gyro, and onion rings & mozzarella sticks (both come with white sauce, instead of marinara, which we were hesitant, until trying). We went back and got a bottle of white sauce to use at home for everything.

The flavor had uncountable amounts of flavors and was perfectly cooked & spiced; no ingredient or spice overpowered another, but you can taste them all. The french fries are also always the perfect crispiness, that somehow only the best truly authentic middle eastern/halal shops, can get them to be.

Absolutely incredible! All the money is put towards the food and cleanliness with the semi-open kitchen.

The portion size for a single gyro is huge! Everyone in our group exclaimed how much food each of us got! It was large enough that most could only eat about half and was able to reheat the rest. So 2 meals, for ~$13. Absolutely nothing compares!

“Totally disorganized front of the house. Had reservations but was told we had to wait while they “cleared the tables” even though there were many open tables visible and available. Based on the small number of servers visible on the floor it was clear they didn't have enough staff. After waiting for 20 minutes and seeing no visible change in the situation - while the line at the door grew longer - we decided to leave. A shame since we never encountered this before. Went back a couple of weeks later. The problems I complained about have been fixed. Very good experience this time. Always willing to give a second chance. I will be returning!“

It’s also the only place I look forward to hearing the specials and trying various things on the menu. I go there minimum once a week. Of all the times I’ve been I’ve only had 2 incidents where I was not happy with the cut of meat. When I brought the issue to the servers attention, they went above and beyond to make things right. I suggest making reservations because they are pretty busy from those that have also fallen in love with this amazing restaurant. The manager and all the employees are well mannered and offer top tier service.“

“This was my first time eating at Cava and the person who made my order Yoselin did an amazing job! She gave me exactly what i wanted and was so polite to me. Her service at Cava was 10/10! She even offered to help me choose something to get since it was my first time and her patience with me was nice of her as I didn’t know what to get at first.
