The edamame was some of the best I've ever had, and having lived in Japan for nearly five years I've had a LOT of edamame. “This is the best pizza in Gainesville! Last time I got their hot honey pizza with pepperoni and green peppers, it was awesome! We also spoke to the manager for a while as he was doing some maintenance work next to our table, he was super kind to us. If you only have one night in Gainesville, you can't go wrong here!“

“Recently visited Pomodoro's with some friends for a ladies night. We had a very good experience overall! Our server was very attentive and patient with our dining decisions. We enjoyed the bottles of wine that we chose (Montepulciano) as well as the appetizer (fritto misto). The calamari and shrimp were fried perfectly and very tender. We each got a caesar salad which tasted fresh and light (some of the salads needed a little extra parmesan). The spaghetti and clams dish was very tasty and the clams were very fresh. My friends enjoyed their dishes as well (pasta valentino, gnocchi rose, ravioli florentina). We split a couple desserts as well and highly recommend the apple pie/crumble dessert! The cannoli cake was a little dense but had good flavor. It was a nice evening and we will definitely consider having another ladies night here!“

“Excellent service!!! Everyone is so nice and polite from greeting you the second you walk in to the waiters. We went for weekend brunch and it is worth every penny. It's a buffet style but the food quality that's served is top notch. Our favorite were the grits and shrimp and the beef wyagu sliders. They also have this omelette station that my stomach could not fit but I would've loved an omelet. I want to try to make this a monthly thing with friends. Try going the second it opens because it got busy super fast.“

“I had the chicken and waffles for my birthday and it was awesome. I also like the chicken Benedict. There hasn’t been too many things that I have disliked there. Sometimes it’s a hit or miss depending on what time you get there who is cooking however, their food is usually really good and their staff is normally very attentive and kind. I enjoy sitting outside because I am disabled and have a service animal who happens to be 100 pound pitbull. They are very accommodating.“

“I am a NY pizza lover, but THIS Chicago style pizza is probably the best in have ever had. Hands down the best pizza in town.There's more....I ordered a salad as well. Most of the time we all regret ordering a carry out salad because they are already such a disaster and waste of money.Not their salads! Nice assortment of fresh vegetables and romaine lettuce neatly arranged. Someone cared about that salad when they made it. “My family and I had an early dinner tonight and everything was excellent: from the scallion pancakes and tuna tataki as appetizers to the main dishes, boolgogi, bibimbap, pork belly and jeyeuk bokkeum and the banchan. “Went for my birthday dinner last night. I wanted a place where you dressed for dinner in a place with atmosphere. Embers did not disappoint on any level. The attention to detail and the dining experience is second to none. Our server, Donnie, was just the best. Knowledgeable and friendly, attentive without being obtrusive. I plan on asking for him again. All the servers are the best of the best in my observation. The menu is varied and the choices are what youd wxpect in a high end restaurant. The food is sublime! We had the crab bisque to start, and the fresh ingredients are obvious. I had the divers scallops in a lemon beurre blanc and they were delicious and cooked to peefection. My husband had a 10 oz Filet mignon and he said it was also perfect. We both had the lobster mashed potatoes (yum), I had roasted asparagus which was tender and flavorful and he had sautéed wild mushrooms and those were just wonderful. The portions are big, so be prepared to bring some home. They are boxed and bagged well. Our only disappointment was having no room for dessert, although Donnie brought out a homemade mango sorbet with a raspberry sauce which was delicious and a perfect finish. I plan on leaving room next time, I have to try the flaming creme brulee! All in all, the best dining experience I've had in a long long while and I can't wait ti go back!“

The only slight drawback is the extensive range of flavors, which can make it challenging to create a perfectly balanced bowl. However, the freshness and hotness of the food always make up for it. “This morning, I ordered brioche french toast. However, that is not even the best part. One waiter waved from the back and two of the young ladies up front knew my name. It reminded me of the song from Cheers, "Sometimes you want to go, where everybody knows your name." My friend and I have been going to The Deli most every Sunday for a while now. Many of the wait staff have been there for a bit and I've seen several promoted from host. The kitchen has gotten it right most of the time. This restaurant is a local gem and, for good reasons, a popular place to get excellent noms.“

“Happening place, very busy, staff was great and cordial, made some good recommendations. Very well prepared dishes, my daughters and I enjoyed the food very much. What could have been better? The air conditioning was running at full capacity and it wasn’t enough fresh air, specially at our table close to the open kitchen. It’s early August so it’s understandable. It had mustard which I didn’t expect I normally don’t like mustard but it was ok. “When you walk in, it is a bit off-putting if you're going for dinner. At first glance, when you walk in, it looks like dark dive bar. Don't get me wrong, I love a dive bar! “The ramen here is incredible and the best I've ever tasted (and I've been to Crane Ramen)! My wife and I got the Chintan and the Miso ramen with pork. They were both so delicious! The golden noodles are fresh, the broth is rich, and the toppings are flavorful - especially the egg. The restaurant is very cute on the inside, with lots of pop culture and anime decor to look at. They have beer and wine. The service is efficient and polite. We'll definitely be back!“

“My wife and I are staying in Gainesville for a family wedding and we decided to try the 16th Ave Diner because we saw many great reviews online and boy were they right. The food was AMAZING!! “Small Indian Restaurant on Highway while traveling to Orlando. Stopped here while driving to Orlando as we wanted to have some snacks and tea. Samosa and Tea both were good and we also got our dinner packed from them. Small space to eat, but they are good on on their To Goorders more. All in all nice place to stop to have Indian food. “My boyfriend took me to Mi Apa today after a long day of work. Both of us had not eaten today so we were both cranky. Thankfully our awesome server Sergio was the cure to our hangriness! He was quick and on top of everything. I got the Miami sandwich and my boyfriend got this bowl with beef, rice and plantains. We sat outside on the patio and despite that we never felt ignored by Sergio. Great service, food and ambiance. Will definitely be coming again!“

“East End Eatery is my favorite breakfast place in Gainesville! The best breakfast burrito in town! Always fresh veggies, gouda cheese grits that always satisfy, even a Florida native like me. I was surprised for not ordering extra cheese that it actually had a nice thick layer of cheese when we received it. And it was steaming hot as well. With their kick ass salad dressing they even make lettuce taste good! Honestly my only complaint is that they give you SO MUCH food, I didn't feel like I could enjoy it all--but it's a buffet-ish kind of serving, so I'll just ask for less next time.“

“This has to be the coziest and friendliest brewery I've been to. Most breweries these days have a bit of a cold industrial aspect to them. Not so with Blackadder. I enjoyed the Belgian quadruple and the house hefeweizen and they did not disappoint. I hope to return again soon.“

He gave recommendations and even brought a sample of the Brunswick stew for me. (WHICH WAS FANTASTIC!!) The sweet tea is REAL sweet tea, not the watered-down version you mostly get down here. I haven't found Brunswick stew down here, and when I saw it on the menu, I had to have it! It was SO GOOD!!! The cornbread....is TOO good. My husband got the 3 item combo. The brisket was amazing! The pulled pork....SO GOOD!! And the chicken...good grief. We left the restaurant SO full that we almost had to take a NAP before we went back! ?? Only change is they used to offer a smaller option kind of a lunch size for dinner, but don’t anymore. One of the only places in town that the price reflects the serving size left in Gainesville. You will leave full. Dating myself here, but have been coming to this place for 15 years. My Granny and Dad loved coming here. Many family birthday celebrations. Service can be hit or miss as far as personality , but you see the hustle and effort that most of them have. “We had given up on Sonny's because the one in Alachua, FL had gone downhill in all ways. One day, around St. Patrick's day, we decided to try the Sonny's on 39th Street in Gainesville. Well, we now have our preferred Sonny's! We had a great server, Patricia. I asked to speak with the manager to praise Patricia. Ethan approached with a huge smile and I expressed my opinion on how great Patricia was. We talked quite a while and he truly made a connection. After a very enjoyable conversation, Ethan invited me to let him know the next time we were at the restaurant. Fast forward to April 15, 2024. We were greeted by Zach with a pleasant smile and great personality. I asked him if Ethan was working, which he was. I also asked if he could let Ethan know that I was there. Not long after we were sat, Ethan comes walking around the corner and when he saw me, his face lit up!!! He remembered everything about our last visit and even commented about my husband wearing a plaid shirt again. Another GREAT conversation and when our server, Elise, brought the food out, Ethan came out to check on us. Elise was also very kind, with a great smile. I noticed that all of the servers were smiling - at all times. What a great environment. A few days after our visit, I called to speak with the General Manager, Charles. Well, now I understand why the staff at Sonny's on 39th Street in Gainesville is so happy! Charles was an absolute delight to speak with and I expressed that his restaurant is our go-to Sonny's even though we have to travel further than our local Sonny's location. This is turning out to be a novel; however, it is important to me to always give praise where it is deserved. Kudos to Charles, Ethan and the associates at this Sonny's location!!“

“Small restaurant and Asian store in a strip mall in Gainesville, FL for Authentic Filipino cuisine for take out. They cook only 2 days a week, on Friday and Saturday, and come at store opening at 10a to get fresh. They have a specific menu every week. The week I had gone, I ordered pancit bihon, small, and bistek and white rice. The food was excellent!!!!“

“El Indio has been a staple of my upbringing for the last 30 years. I was in town for an event and decided to get dinner one night and some breakfast a day or two later. I got an enchilada plate with asada and it was great! For breakfast I ordered a breakfast burrito and breakfast taco. Both were very good. I highly recommend El Indio if you haven't been before, everything is great. Except for the prices, I know prices go up but this used to be a budget place to get some really good food, now the prices are significantly more and seem like they go up every time I'm in town.“

We ordered the Wontons which were fresh and one of the best we’ve had, especially in Gainesville. I went with the Bulgogi Ramen, and it blew my expectations! You pick the broth you want to use from mild to spicy (I prefer the spicy) and then go to the "Sauce" bar to choose the sauces to dip your cooked food in.There are so many choices of sauces it can be overwhelming, and they have from mild to super hot spicy sauces so be careful! But they have plenty of all types to choose from.Go after 5:30 pm because that is when they turn the "conveyor" belt of food on. You can get all you can eat and just pick what you want off the conveyor as it goes by, they keep it well-stocked with many different kinds of food, vegetables, and some really interesting things like Squid and super tasty mushrooms. Lots to choose from.My problem is I always eat too much when I go, it is very easy to do this so be careful! Very clean and friendly staff. You can order off the menu also if you don't want the all you can eat but what fun is that? :)“

“Went on a Saturday night during March Madness before it got too crowded. Sat in a booth for 4. Haley was our server... She was AMAZING!! So easy to talk with, funny and just seem to get "us" as we were VERY hungry, thirsty and tired LOL. All our food was amazing, quick and hot... It was a bday celebration and I desperately wanted Capt. Jacks.. Someone must have given Haley a heads up and she told me that they were out.. I was disappointed and she looked a bit uncomfortable saying it. Then about 3 servers came out, with it and a candle and sang.. It was VERY cute.. “The Flying Biscuit never disappoints! This time I tried the Dirty Bird dish and loved it! The chicken sausage gravy compliments the entire dish. The chicken tenders were juicy, and the belgian waffle was yummy. Of course, the biscuit with the apple butter is to die for. My Nephew loved his plain French toast. My Sister enjoyed her Free Bird with poached eggs. I recommend this spot if you're in Gainesville. Make sure to come early or put yourself on the waitlist - this place is always busy on the weekends.“
