“As an unabashed "coffee snob", I take my bean juice seriously and have roasted my own green coffee beans for the past 5 years-ish. Tragically, I failed to monitor my "green" back-stock, ran out and learned this morning that my order wouldn't arrive until next week ?. In a panic I searched local roasters, found this place, bought some Ethiopian whole bean (roasted 1 day earlier) and got my espresso fix by 7:30am. It was delicious. Validation for me after dumping Starbucks years ago that FRESH ROAST MATTERS. Thank you BGCR for being there when I needed the real deal.

“First I want to start by saying I am not easily impressed but every now & then the Universe will grant us an inside look at how things could be when we operate in LOVE & gratitude. I had to have my new car serviced & had a less than pleasant experience at the dealership. It threw me into a less than desirable energy. It affected me. My partner suggested to “let’s take a walk down the street and grab some coffee” (probably to calm me down). When we got to the coffee shop he looked up it was closed. The lights were off & we didn’t see anyone in there nonetheless he grab the door to see if it would open (it didn’t). I was upset that we now walked down a busy street (me wearing wedges) to get coffee and the place was closed. I started walking off when out of nowhere the door opens to the coffee shop & the most friendly face peaked out & said “We are closed but I can’t let you leave disappointed, come in & I will serve you”. I was in disbelief. The shop was clean, the lights were off and this man opened his shop JUST FOR US. He goes on to tell us that he is the owner of the shop and his employees had already left and that he hasn’t fixed coffee in over ten years but he was going to take our order anyway. He proceeded to make us our desired coffee (all 4 orders were specialty orders-not regular coffee) …. All 4 of us couldn’t believe it & to make it even more beautiful, all 4 of us said it was THE BEST COFFEE we had ever had….. seriously, hands down and there isn’t even a close second…. The coffee was AMAZING. He allowed us to come into his shop after he had already closed it down, dirtied it up for us, allowed us to sit inside and drink our coffee AND conversed with us for a good half hour, telling us of his bad car dealership experiences, his wife and just joking with us. Had a smile on his face THE ENTIRE TIME while making our coffee and talking to us. His name is Rami. He is the owner of Compa Craft Coffee & Cocktails & also owns the pizza place across from it (I believe it is called Origins). My takeaway- it only takes ONE PERSON, one energy to affect many. I went in there with a negative energy & left with a life lesson, a living, breathing example of how LOVE can change the masses and the best coffee I have ever had my entire life. THIS human is what I aspire to be and his energy is what I aspire to encompass. Rami changed 4 lives with only a smile & a giving heart and doesn’t even know it. ❤️“

Incredibly kind owner and staff as well, this place is a must visit if in the Sarasota area (and beyond!) Once you've tasted Jake's ice cream it's hard to ever eat anything else, he's raising the standards for homemade ice cream with every flavor - although we all have our favorites we've never tried one we didn't like!! “I gave been to playa bowl over 10 times and my experience today was not good. The staff today was not very welcoming. If the owners were there today when I went they sure were not friendly. I told the cashier no coconuts and they put some in, then she says you want a lid and I said well yea, it’s to go. She didn’t even put them in a bag. I always buy the Nutella one and I always buy 2. All the other times I had no problems great staff and friendly.“

“Fabulous local cafe in downtown Sarasota located on Main St. near Lemon Ave! I started coming here around 10 years ago when Starbucks closed for renovations so this was my morning go to place on my bus layover and I’ve been a patron ever since. Although it’s changed hands a couple of times they’ve always had a very friendly staff and wonderful daily made pastry’s and treats…the coffee is great as well! If you’re downtown I highly suggest trying them out!“

“I'm always craving a good cup of coffee ☕ Today I chose to step into Kahwa to escape the heat. I usually aim for a hot coffee but seeing two draft options I entertained my curiosity... I learned that they have two cold brews on tap. Making the decision between cold brew and nitro cold brew seemed indifferent. Fortunately Liv was on duty and offered me a sample! Boy was that a blessing. I was able to make my decision with some understanding of my options. Not only was the services amazing the artwork displayed was breathtaking! I'm definitely coming back soon ?

“I wish I'd used the app and had a record of the barista I had today, because in addition to helping me through a rather convoluted order (I was trying to use the secret menu for a frappe but the recipe wasn't there so we had to kind of guesstimate it), dealing with an unorthodox payment method, but he also learned through conversation with me that I'd run to the Starbucks and didn't have sunscreen, and he offered his without missing a beat. So besides him just being an excellent person, it impressed on me that this Starbucks location and possibly the corporate culture somewhat has employees comfortable enough to be themselves at work, be personable with their customers, and relaxed enough to handle their job with ease and take time for friendly banter. It was a great experience overall I'm very happy I went here.

“11/2024 Simon’s son Tyler and his wife Maya have bought Simon’s and they have a new plant-based menu. Fabulous. ——- 2024 We’ve been coming to Simon’s for many years, often 3-4 times a week. Love their food but recently a few of the waitresses have told me that the granola contains honey, despite being marked vegan on the menu. They have no plans to change the menu markings. There have been other mixups as well with regular cheese vs. vegan cheese and whether specials are fully vegan. Most of the wait staff are terrific at knowing what’s what. Just ask questions. Too bad we are further from Sarasota (New Tampa). otherwise we would be weekly regulars for sure. Amazing food and assortiment of products available. “I like the vibration at Whole Foods. Everyone is polite, they seem to be happy working there and there’s a wonderful selection. I particularly like the produce department and the seafood although I will admit it’s a little pricey. But you can get good deals. I also like their Large prepared food section, and bakery. I feel privileged to have this store so close to me and to have this free parking right there in the Center of Sarasota. By using my Amazon prime card, I get further discounts when items are on sale. I shop there frequently.“

“This is my home Starbucks so I always go to it. The employees have always been awesome and have always gone out of the way to make me feel special by doing things like remembering my name. Today I had an experience that reminded me just how special this Starbucks is. As I pulled out my wallet to pay, I unknowingly dropped a 20 dollar bill on the ground. I was lucky that the lady behind me noticed and she picked it up and handed it back to me. This was very kind of her and being a poor college student I can use every dollar I got. I didn't really know what to do repay her other than say thank you. The employee who was ringing up the lady gave Her free drink on the house.
