“It's been a while since I've had top-level sushi. Fitting it was at Chef David's other restaurant, Sushi By Bou. This omakase was a very relaxed 2 hour seating, with remarkable views of the ocean and the north Miami skyline. I found myself thrown back in my chair with the incredible layered flavors of the almost never-ending fresh fish. The cocktails were nuanced, and the atmosphere was filled with pure happiness. I'll definitely find myself coming back here often!“

“I cannot believe I had one of the best sushi in a food hall at the Miami Design District. The fish melts in your mouth and it combined so well with the sauces. I usually always order spicy mayo on the side, but it was not needed for this roll. We liked it so much that we had to buy it again. Not because we were hungry but it was just that delicious. I also tried the Wagyu hand roll and it was fantastic as well. I also loved the service and cleanliness from the place. I will definitely return to here to have this special roll again.“

But what compels me to write is the food ... Simply amazing. We had the omokase and each serving was more incredible. My friend was visiting from SF and he said it was the best sushi he's ever had! She stated it was an ice cream base with chocolate and almonds on top with a chocolate crust. However when we got the dessert it was not an ice cream base but chocolate mousse. In fact two layers of mousse and no ice cream whatsoever. That was very disappointing as I do not like mousse. So this kind of ruined the dessert portion for our first time there.“

Loved the red curry, the rolls were gigantic, the edamame was piping hot, and the shrimp shumai were flavorful. We had a great time all in all.“

Dining at Omakai felt more like a carefully choreographed performance than just dinner, every plate arrived with beautiful presentation and the staff was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable. My husband is a huge sushi lover, and me, not as much; but it was a nice date night for him, so I figured I’d get some gyoza and the wagyu and egg nigiri and be perfectly happy. Well, I was about to be SO impressed. We were sat at the sushi bar, and had the most amazing service from one of the sushi chefs. After we put in our order he overheard my husband thanking me for bringing him and the sushi chef realized I wasn’t much of a raw fish gal… he made it his goal to have me try something new that he thought would help bridge the gap. He absolutely astounded. I LOVED the nigiri he had me try so much and was overall so impressed with the passion and love that goes into the craft there. My husband said it has ruined all other sushi for him, lol. Amazing and so grateful we chose this place in a city full of excellent restaurants.“
