“Cris and Larry are very personable and the food was excellent. They arrived well ahead of the scheduled time for our Vacation Bible School. Our theme was “Food Truck Party”. They added the special touch we needed to finalize the week. What a blessing and a privilege to work with them.“

“We ate here this past weekend and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner and got to learn he is from NY and plans to bring his soul food restaurant to Alabama. I laughed in my head when he said this because he’s from NY and he’s wants to bring a soul food restaurant to Huntsville AL where we have plenty of great places to eat. He started us out with a cornbread appetizer. Nothing special, but it was the best i had. Fluffy and sweet like pound cake. My main corse was Lamb, collard greens and Mac n cheese. The absolute best ever! Ruth Chris doesn’t compare to his flavor. HIS FOOD WILL SHUT DOWN YOUR FAVORITE SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT. AL wants your food sir ‼️“

“I tried this place for lunch and I am glad I made the trip. Their service was friendly and answered my questions about possible options to get. I went with the jerk ribs rice & peas cabbage and a side of plantains. The only thing that was left were the bones. Sure enough some of that sauce was on my shirt. If you pick up the ribs with your hands just be ready to catch them with your plate. They fall off the bone type of ribs. There was some bbq sauce but blended well with the season. The cabbage was seasoned and tasted freshly cooked. Let's talk about the plantains. Perfectly cut and cooked. I can't even get that can of plantain quality in a Spanish restaurant. Best I have had. They do have a lunch special and plenty of side options. My only regret is not trying their juice. Next time I am trying the jerk chicken and stew.“

“Been a bit since I had good soul food and didn't have a single complaint with my order. I had the turkey wing meal. Meat came off the bone with ease, cornbread dressing was well seasoned
Mac n cheese, greens, rice, cornbread- all delicious
It's a small spot with good music playing while I waited on my order. Very likely going to order from here again.“

“I visited Smokez because it's a neighborhood black owned business and I wanted to support. I ordered grilled chicken and it did not disappoint. Please note, the food is pricy, I paid approximately 15 dollars for 2 leg quarters. I'm glad I tried them out. The young lady at the window was a delight. She is extremely friendly. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I can't complain about anything.“

“I visited this restaurant on a Thursday evening and the restaurant had a brisk clientele. The waitress came to our table immediately and asked for our drink orders and brought them back very quickly. I ordered the above items and in less than 15minutes i had my order and it was hot and seasoned to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a quick wholesome meal, with all taste you remember from growing up.“

“I have only eaten breakfast here, but it is always good and inexpensive. This more of a grab your food to go spot. Get the breakfast potatoes and the fried green tomatoes. The country steak is extra crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.“

“Wanted to update since my last review. I was at Wyatt's on Friday. Got rib tips and a half slab. Man oh man they were on point. This place is amazing. Thank you for staying in the community. Keep cooking.“
“I am so glad I found this gem!! I just moved to Atlanta from Boston (where there’s Haitian food everywhere) so I was little bummed out that there aren’t really Haitian spots out here. But my girlfriend found this place on IG and sent it my way. I ordered online and got the griot plate which comes with the diri kole (rice and beans) and the banan peze (fried plantains) with a side of salad and pikliz. Also ordered a side of the j*** chicken pasta which came with some delicious bread, my order also came with a lemonade and it was one of the best lemonade I ever had. EVERYTHING was delicious the griot was cooked very well still nice and tender people tend to overcook griot but this here was perfect! Portion is great! It’s a 10/10 for me and will not mind making that 30+ minute drive in Atlanta traffic to get it.My only suggestion would be to give the sauce on the side as opposed to putting it on the rice and having Dressing for the salad.Thank you Ted for a great meal, you definitely have a frequent customer now.“

“The empanadas are very good and the default sauce is pretty good. They used to be overpriced, but prices have adjusted down some which is good to see. Combos do not come with drinks. We only got two sauces with 3 3 piece empanada trios which I'm assuming was just overlooked, but I do know they want to charge if you ask for extra sauces. The chicken itself is expensive for what it is and I probably won't give it a chance. I just can't justify paying the price to try it when good chicken is available all over the place nearby. Service was slow we waited outside for at least 20 minutes for our food.“

“I have been long awaiting my chance to experience the Peach Cobbler Cafe and it finally happened! I was in the area last night and wanted some soul food, clearly Peach Cobbler Cafe was the win for the night. Upon walking in, I was greeted with a huge personality filled “Welcome to Peach Cobbler Cafe!” As I took in the overall ambiance, there is a mostly open floor plan. The menu was to my left as soon as you walked in which allowed me to figure out what I wanted before walking up to the register. In full transparency. I was taken aback by the prices, however, understanding that inflation is real I continued and placed my order. I decided on the Rib Tips Dinner with Macaroni and Cheese and Yams. Of course, I chose Peach Cobbler as my dessert… Upon placing my order I went to have a seat. All the booths towards the back were dirty which was odd as there was no one in the restaurant besides one other person who was towards the front. Hmmm, this made me wonder when the last wipe down was for any of the tables. Nonetheless, I decided to take my chances and have a seat. About 10 minutes after sitting down my order was ready. As you can see by the images, the presentation was amazing and the portions were a good size for $35. Let’s talk Taste: Yams - The yams tasted like doctored up canned yams. They weren’t bad overall, however, I wasn’t flavor-ly pleased with the approach to making them taste “not so canned.” On a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate them a 5. Macaroni and Cheese - The Mac and Cheese was good. Flavorful, well done, cheesy and definitely satisfied the homemade craving. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate this side a 7. Rib Tips - The Rib Tips were meaty, well seasoned, smokey, and tender. The sauce was mild, well flavored, and paired perfect with the smokiness of the tips and the natural presence of the pork juice. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate the tips an 8.3. Cornbread - The cornbread was very good. It was spongy and had a smooth texture to it. The sweetness to corn ratio was spot on which allowed for a satisfying of the sweet and salty desire. Along with the perfect flavor balance, it was buttery. Oh yeah! This is the kind of cornbread that would pair well with dinner or coffee. LoL! On a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate the cornbread a 9. Peach Cobbler - The Peach Cobbler stole the entire show. I’m talking what in the good goodness, grandma in the kitchen showing off, soul pleasing goodness. This dessert was amazing and delectable enough to make me come back for an order of Peach Cobbler all by itself. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate the Peach Cobbler a 10. **Sidenote, ensure to check your bag before you leave. My peach cobbler was left out of my bag originally.** Overall, my experience at Peach Cobbler Cafe wasn’t bad. For $35, I anticipated better flavor profiles amongst each dish, however, I wouldn’t be opposed to ordering a meal from here again.“
“Been going here for years now! Even though the owner hve change but the food is the same and I mean great!! No complaints at all here. For less than $10.00 you will be full and be able to take some home. Try this spot, they hve some great food there, I wouldn't lie to you.“

“I visited this cozy little restaurant and really enjoyed the warm atmosphere. The assorted pepper soup and beans with fried plantain were both delicious and well-prepared. However, the service was a bit clumsy, as only one person was serving all the customers, which made things a bit slow and disorganized. The owner came out to assist at some point, and she was very pleasant and welcoming. That said, they definitely need more hands on deck to improve efficiency and service flow. With better staffing, this place could really shine.“

“Tucked just off the highway with a small parking lot out front, this spot is easy to get to—even if you miss the turn like I did. I stopped nearby for something else, got a recommendation from a local, and decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did. The building has great curb appeal—fresh paint, clean signage, and a tidy appearance that pulls you in.
Inside, it's a casual, counter-service setup with a clean, open dining room and a few booths around the edge. The vibe is informal and welcoming. The food is served cafeteria-style: you pick your meat and sides, and they plate it for you. While the default seems to be takeout, you're welcome to sit and eat there.
I went with the baked chicken, which comes with rice and gravy and includes two sides. I picked cabbage and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was exactly what you'd hope for—cheesy, creamy, smooth, and flavorful with satisfying cheese pulls in every bite. The cabbage was cooked just right—tender but not mushy—with great seasoning.
The rice and gravy had deep, balanced flavor without being too salty or heavy. In fact, nothing was oversalted, which is a rare and welcome surprise in a small spot like this. The meal also came with a small cornbread muffin that hit the spot.
Dessert options included hot cobblers like apple and peach, along with a tempting variety of cake slices—all of which looked fantastic.
NOTE: I had accidentally posted this under my work account so I had to delete that when I'm reposting it under my correct account here. PWT :)>“
