“I finally checked out Buckits Hawaii, and let me tell you, they're famous for their seafood buckets! It’s actually Hawaii's first seafood boil food truck that you can grab on the go. They’ve got four different sauce options: House Cajun, Spicy Cajun, Cheehoo, and Hapa. Besides the buckets, they also whip up a seafood seasoning mix, shrimp and rice plates, steak tacos, elote (that’s corn), horchata, and side rice.

When it comes to the seafood boil, you can choose from three different sizes, and you get to pick your sauce. Each bucket is loaded with shrimp, crab legs, sausage, an egg, and some small potatoes. I went for the hapa sauce, and wow, it was a serious game changer—definitely a “chew until you can’t eat any more” kind of meal! The flavors were broke da mout and super ono!“

“Real deal poke. Fresh and fantastic. Our favorite was Shoyu and also Spicy. One outdoor table for seating. I wish there was another option then to have it served in plastic. Paper bowls would be adequate and way more ecological than creating huge load of plastic waste with every meal.“

It feels good supporting a great local resource and the steaks never disappoint. Correction: the steaks AND seafood never disappoint. “Excellent food, had the brie appetizer and catch of the day, blackened monchong. Staff recommend wine to pair with dinner and Taylor-tini were perfect. Chef Nathaniel clearly enjoys creating his dishes which are extremely delicious. Highly recommend!“

Not fully understanding all of the menu options, the owner, was so friendly, offered information about the types of fresh food he had and even offered us samples of the Ahi poke. Once a nay sayin skeptic, I’m now a true believer in raw fish as an amazing meal. I can’t say enough about how tasty this food was. We also had the Shrimp Tempura, Ahi Katsu and Limo Oi’o. All were absolutely some of the best food we had in over a week in Hawaii.“

“We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated at an open table. Waters, menu, and table-ware were already on the table. We ordered Kamikaze roll, dancing shrimp roll, and stuffed mushrooms and everything was actually delicious (no there was no discount for me to write a review for them, its actually good). Plates were removed as soon as we finished one roll and the next was served. We dropped a chop stick and we're immediately given a new set. Check was served immediately when we finished the last roll too. We left very impressed.“

“Uncle’s Fish Market Bar & Grill was a nice, relaxed stop for us. When we walked in, it wasn’t very crowded, which made the atmosphere feel calm and laid back.

We ordered the ahi trio as an appetizer, and it was really good, a great way to start the meal. Our food did take about 30 minutes to come out, but we didn’t mind too much since we had a couple of drinks while waiting.

Speaking of drinks… they were strong 😅 (I forgot the exact names, but they definitely did the job). Overall, good food, solid drinks, and a chill vibe. Worth checking out if you’re in the area and not in a rush.“

“This is the first place I've gone to where the staff told me prices have gone down because they found efficiency in their operation, very honest business. Staff are kind and they serve up really delicious shrimp dumpling, half moon, and shumai. Portions are large considering how much filling they add. Highly recommended“

“First timr trying Catania Ristorante Italiano at Waimalu Shopping Center. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends. Parking is also a challenge during the busy times. Chinese owners serving Italian food. The food is good, but not memorable good. Pasta is cooked well and their garlic cheese bread is very good. Spaghetti sauce too runny, but the Seafood Linguine is delicious. Prices are affordable, considering the portion size is generous and they don't skimp on the protein. Another plus, it's BYOB, so you can save some e $$$ on your bill.

“AMAZING POKE!!! Wow! The wonton nachos chips they make in house and the spicy mayo and other dips are homemade. It was so delicious from start to finish. We ordered nachos and the salmon plate and it did NOT dissappoint. We will certainly be coming back here as often as we can. The staff was all super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and intentional. “We visited this place twice within a week or two. Both times we had the snow crab legs in butter garlic sauce. We also had the garlic fries and kuala pork quesadillas, which was very good. The service was friendly and attentive. The place was noisy from the TVs even though there were only two other tables (both visits). I’m sure there are other better places for crabs, but you can always find a table here and price was near reasonable.“

“You can also eat in the store, but they give you food in disposable containers. After ordering, it was so large that I had no choice but to go, so it was convenient for customers. I ordered one serving of the special set and kimchi pancake, and 2 adults and a 3-year-old child ate it together. I packed the leftover rice and side dishes well and was able to eat until breakfast. When you order a dish, you can choose four side dishes, including kimchi, seasoned seaweed, stewed potatoes, japchae, seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned cabbage, etc. All four we chose were delicious and both the ribs and kimchi pancakes were excellent restaurants. It was the most cost-effective and satisfying meal during my trip to Hawaii?“

“I went to several great poke places during my trip to Hawaii, and this one was by far the best. The salad was fresh and the dressing was delicious. They say they don't use frozen fish, so the tuna sashimi was so fresh and the seasoning was perfect, making it the best. Even my 11-year-old son enjoyed it very much!
The owner, Tommy, was very pleasant and friendly.
I was so sad that I visited on the last day. I definitely recommend it.“

“​Mamaya continues to be a go-to spot for good-quality, reasonably priced bentos. One of the best perks is that (if I recall correctly) any purchase around $10 or more comes with a free bottle of water. They also offer a punch card loyalty program—though I unfortunately lost mine with three stamps on it!

The shop is clean and well-organized. You start on the right side and walk around the displays to select your bento. The service is consistently friendly, and depending on the day or occasion, they’ve even been known to give out a free single spring roll with your meal.

They have a massive variety of bentos to choose from, with white and multi grain rice options available, ranging from classic local favorites to more traditional Japanese styles. On this visit, I went with the Chicken Katsu-don. For right around $10, the portion and quality were excellent. It’s definitely worth the price.

Whether you're looking for a quick lunch or a reliable dinner to take home, Mamaya is a fantastic value. Just try not to lose your punch card like I did!

“Excellent food here! We had the scallop fried rice, garlic shrimp, peking duck and fresh fish. The fried rice was perfectly seasoned, not too oily and didn't have much MSG flavour. We are from Vancouver (which has no shortage of good Chinese food) and this is one of the best Chinese restaurants we've been to!“

The kalua nachos are great, the cheese and ingredients are mixed throughout the nachos and not just stack in top leaving nothing on the bottom like other places. Would recommend.“
