Food Trucks near Hauula

“In planning to relive a memorable dining experience and coming from Waikiki, I did not want to come up to Hauula just to get a plate of food. I did a Yelp search and this was one of two businesses that had a 4+ star rating so I bookmarked it as another stop. Using Google maps on my phone, we reached here a little after 11 am on a Monday morning. A gentleman was seated at one of the tables under the tent who we later learned is part of the business. As we walked up to the truck, we read the menu posted on the truck ( After reading it, I asked the lady who manned the truck for her recommendation and she answered without hesitation. A few minutes later, we both were under the tent and eating our spicy garlic lemon shrimp plate ( At first glance, I was surprised by the size of the shrimp which I would almost categorize as prawns. Need proof of how much I like it... burp ( The sauce was delicious and not overly spicy. My experience with shrimp truck plates is limited as I've only dined at that famous Haleiwa one across from the McD's as you enter town. I liked this more and the accompaniments were certainly more interesting... I enjoy canned corn and don't start me about pineapples. The sweetness of both contrasted well with the tangy, spicy, garlicky sauce on the shrimp and my rice. Before leaving, I was curious and asked the lady's nationality and name. Big thanks to Ms. Zhao or Zhou (sp) for steering us to an enjoyable lunch (she's from a Northeastern province in China). “If you are a Thai food enthusiast and happen to be on the North Shore, there is a hidden gem waiting for you. For those not familiar with the North Shore, it can be a little difficult to find since it is not directly visible from the road but is right next to Kaya's store in Punalu'u, the 3rd food truck from the road (the opposite side of the Aloha Shrimp Truck. The truck is run by an extremely nice and talented couple. The food was as delicious as any Thai restaurant I have visited. We ordered the Spring Rolls, Pad See Ew and Yellow Curry. All were excellent and in large portions that took us two meals to finish. They were even kind enough to provide me a side of spices since I like it spicier then my wife does. We will absolutely go back next time we are on the North Shore. “We are locals and make it a point to eat here. The prices and portions can’t be beat! We have never had a bad hamburger here! The views are spectacular! The service is amazing and personalized. Once you get your order, there is covered seating. There is parking but be careful pulling in and out on to Kamehameha Highway. The owners exemplify the spirit of aloha. Don’t skip this adorable place!“

“Came here at around 6:30 pm after the closed because yelp said it would still be open (yelps fault), but the owners were came out to check on us and asked us what we wanted. Beef Pho was legit with lots of noodles and meat. The mango sticky rice was really good. They also helped turn on a light for us for the outside seating area while we were eating .“

“I live in the area and finally got to try their food ? Their pupusas are made fresh, so were still nice and hot when I got home to eat them (to go aka take away). They were $6 each (not sure if they change their flavors but today was bean and cheese, and chicken and cheese-I hope i got those right). The taco plate was $16 (2 tacos, rice, and beans). The tacos were different(looked beautiful but were ok-not bad, not great). I was the only one there, around 3pm Friday 11/10 (day before Veterans Day). I got the Jamaica drink and it was fine (honestly I’ve never cared for Jamaica but haven’t had it in a while lol). “While going around the island, my fiance and I decided to pay a visit to Da Bald Guy after seeing this being featured on a Netflix Series "Street Food: USA". This famous father/son food truck is located off Kamehameha Hwy nestled right next to other food trucks and is open from 6-2 PM Monday thru Saturday til they're sold out-- so come early! WHAT WE ORDERED: Call my fiance and I super Filipino, but we both share a meal during trips or vacations so that we can try different flavors and varieties of food so we're not just stuck eating one particular dish! For lunch, we decided to share the Furikake Crusted Salmon alongside with our order of Garlic Shrimp from Romy's. Furikake Salmon is a solid meal that always hits especially on lazy days in which you don't really want to cook. After waiting 15 minutes or so food and finding seating, our meal finally arrived. And honestly, we've never had Salmon Furikake like theirs before! The flavors, nice crust, and freshness of the Salmon had us mind blown. This meal also came with rice and mac salad. I'm not huge on mac salad, but their mac salad was also delicious! The one thing we regret is not coming earlier to order the combo plate, but we'll definitely be back to try more! We're glad to say Da Bald Guy is not just instagram worthy but definitely the drive and wait was worth it! 10/10 recommend! “Wow! I actually couldn’t stop eating and I was full. It was amazing! We also had the pepper jack cheese bomb that’s battered. It was so crispy on the outside, and still so soft and moist. It was perfectly done! My husband and I both left so happy with what we had ordered. The atmosphere was perfect, easy to get in and out. The staff was super friendly. “This place was so bomb fresh and Ono.so juicy with choke flavor and sauce on point.was so fast made to order and they get it out to you quickly.was so bomb I told my husband let me take a picture and turn to look back and it was gone less then 3minutes.check them out guys choke aloha and love staff is so nice,patient and sweet.“

“The owner is super cool, extremely nice, and helpful. I ordered the Feijoada (black bean stew with beef short rib and smoked sausage in it, rice and 1 other side I can't remember) but its only served on Fri and Sat, I think. It was excellent!!! I don't have any other Brazilian food (other than a Brazilian steak house) to compare it to, but it was very filling and tasty. Would definitely go back if I lived on O'ahu. The other great thing, if you stay on the Waikiki side of the island, is the drive back. I thought the eastern side of the island was a lot nicer (less suburbanish) than the west side. A lot of cool beaches on the Northside, very pretty (get ready for traffic though, in our case. We've driven a total of 90 miles this trip and it's taken us a total of about 4 1/2 hours). All worth it, though, for a day with the family exploring Hawaii and seeing some beautiful scenery!!!“

“The wait was worth it. Chicken Sandwich was crunchy and spicy and huge. I mean HUGE. He warned the next few in line that the chickens were a bit extra big today. He was not joking as the chicken was 3x the size of the bun. The fries were good also. Highly recommend. A little insider secret ask for half / half dip in the hot sauce as then only the hot sauce side will be in the bun and you can touch the hanging over part of the chicken without getting your hands crazy messy. :-)“

“My husband and I decided this may have been the best pizza we’ve ever had. We got the Jefferoni. It was a different and delightful combination. We hung out at the beer garden since it was a bit of a wait, and they called us when it was time to pick it up. Incredible pizza. I’d drive out of my way to eat here. Plus they were so nice!!“

“The absolute best cookie skillet I’ve ever had! We got a big one and shared it amongst our family of 4 and it was more than enough!! Get the Carmel syrup on to, you won’t be disappointed!! Their other cookies are very good too! You can’t go wrong here!“

“I am a firm believer that some of the best food you can get in Hawaii comes from small, local food trucks like Flyin' Ahi. I finally got the chance to try them after wanting to go for years. Usually I wouldn't be able to because of work but I took advantage of the Veteran's Day holiday to make my way over. Located in Mililani Tech Park next to other food trucks.The baked crab stuffed Ono with truffle sauce caught my eye. But I also wanted to try their signature kalbi fries, plus spicy ahi poke... Luckily the kind owner was able to combine all that into one fat plate. Everything was amazing! The truffle cream sauce is to die for. The fries were fried up perfectly crispy with a generous portion of kalbi on top. And the spicy ahi was great too, I liked how it wasn't the usual mayo-based sauce.Service was super quick and friendly. The owner was generous enough to add some spicy ahi into the blackened ahi salad we got too. I'll definitely come back to this spot when I have another day off and want to treat myself.“

“We were greeted immediately by a friendly and patient young lady. The hubby and I both ordered the Deez Ahi Poke Bowl, and it was delicious! Each bowl was $20, but the serving size was generous with loads of fresh tuna. We would highly recommend this food truck!Vegetarian options: Every dish contains meat or fish, but there are plenty of other food options just a few steps away.Kid-friendliness: Our boys are not traveling with us, but they would have loved it here.Wheelchair accessibility: Gravel road and eating area. “A nice place to stop on the way to the North Shore. In addition to the restaurant, inside there is a gift shop and jewelry counters. We ordered the half chicken plate and the shell-on garlic shrimp plate, which were each $18. Chicken was cooked well and had a subtle sweet smoky flavour. I recommend the shrimp too, which were buttery, garlicky, fresh, and plentiful. The mac salad was the best I've had on this trip so far. Loved that they have lots of seating inside and big bathrooms to wash your hands before/after your meal. Will definitely come back.“

“I meant to take pics but smelling my food on the ride home, I forgot about pictures and straight devoured my food . I had the OG and my wife had the Paniolo. We also had fries , tots, and onion strings. Everything was killah. Full on broke da mout action. The wasabi sauce was my favorite with my burger and the sides. This place get action. He even has crispy jerky too. I wen wack the whole bag before I got home lol. Buggah is mean .“

“Got the regular burrito with chicken - excellent! The girl at the counter recommended the burrito and she was right. If you're in the mood for Mexican, this is the place. The roasted tomatillo sauce is fantastically smokey & goes great with the burrito. Very filling also. Definitely going to try the super burrito next time.“

“I WOULD GIVE IT 6 STARTS. Shaka shake has got to have the best Korean bbq on ALL OF THE ISLAND. The employees care DEEPLY about how their customers enjoy the food. They tell you about which sauces go with which plate. And she even comes up to you and asks how you like it, if you need anything else, etc. this food truck is like a restaurant where you are waited on!!!! Lady in charge is a legend. Pork is phenomenal. “The girls at Pupukea were friendly and fast! Our meals were prepared perfectly and were actually the BEST food we ate on a week vacation with restaurants running up to $200 a meal! We’ve decided finding the right taco truck is huge in Hawaii and THIS is it.“

“This was the best mango sticky rice me and family have ever had! We ended up getting two orders because the rice was sooo soft, and the mango was super sweet it was just perfect. Also got the Thai iced coffee and Thai tea - yummy but almost too sweet“

“Such a cute coffee shop with great coffee and friendly baristas! We got an iced vanilla latte w/ oat milk and an iced brown sugar latte. Both lattes were refreshing and tasted wonderful! We also got the chocolate chip cookie and it was fantastic! Soft, chewy, and rich with a hint of sea salt made for the best cookie to eat with our drinks. Additionally, the views of the mountains while sitting on the patio with your coffee is to die for!“

“This is a must visit spot if you’re looking for Shaved Ice while on the North Shore. Some great desert options, but the Local is super flavorful, colorful, and a huge portion easily enough for two. Plenty of seating and parking, and your view is of the waters and Shark Cove so it’s a great spot to chill after swimming or before.“

“Great coffee and food. Stop there atleast twice a week. Some of the best coffee I've had!Only issue I've had is they no longer stir my strikers and they're almost always separated. Since they moved to straws with no lid I have a hard time stiring it until I've already drank part of my drink“

“Wonderful ahi katsu! The owners are great people, friendly and helpful. One day I have to venture out and try their other menu options. I get hung up on the Ahi Katsu and Spicy Ahi mix plate every single time. They are in a new permanent location in Aiea, on Kam Hwy across near 49ers Diner and 7-11. Used to be a used car lot, now home to D&L Seafood, Shay's Smashburgers, Joe's Backyard BBQ, and more.“

“Jeremy is still going strong with his lunch wagon. But you people really need to get out of my way because I dislike waiting in that long line (J/K). Scoopers had to raise their prices for all plates by one dollar (come on people, you can afford to pay another measly buck) due to rising costs but it is still incredibly affordable, and the quality hasn't dipped at all. Unpretentious old school plate lunches hit the spot. Always.“

“I finally went to their new location in the Lā’ie shopping center and have been 2x so far. They have so many options so I will be back weekly.My first time was Breakfast, and the plate is $17 but HUGE lol I think 2 people can eat it, or save half for later. The Portuguese sausage and eggs were great.The fried rice was different, still tasty, but I keep thinking if it’s Brazilian style lol ??‍♂️ The sandwiches were great, but take a bite right away while they’re hot. I made the mistake of eating them last, and they weren’t hot anymore (see the breakfast plate photo and you’ll see why it took me so long before eating the sandwiches).2nd time I went for lunch to try all their pasta, and they were good! But if you’re the picky type, the Alfredo sauce wasn’t as creamy as we’re used to but I figure maybe that’s Brazilian style ??‍♂️ Again, the food was still good (especially the meats for each of our pasta-see photos).And if you love fries and onion rings-they were perfect! And the pesto sauce was our favorite.“

“What a fun little place to try different flavors of soda. They have so many tasty options. I tried a dr pepper with vanilla and strawberry flavors. We also ordered a frozen strawberry lemonade. I usually don't like soda and syrups because it tastes so artificial but the taste here was really good. Grab a drink before going into the PCC to sip on and you're set!“
