“Super service..it was a personable young lady. Must be good timing ordering the cold vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and 2 sandwiches because the wait time was minimal. The noodles were really good and it fed 2 adults for lunch. Lots of pork that was seasoned just right for us. Ordered a chicken and a pork sandwich but we were so full from the salad, that will be dinner. Judging by the weight of the sandwich...must be packed! One star off for clear pricing on menu. No receipt so can't share the itemization.“
“Oh wow, what wonderful food. The bahn-mi was wonderful, I had the bún salad and it was fabulous. I've been chasing the dragon of really great Vietnamese bún for a long time and this delivered bigtime. Go give it a shot and don't be afraid to ask for spicy.Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian versions of their bahn-mi and bún salads. They even asked about mayo, so they do care that your food will be strictly vegetarian if you so desire.“
“Very good restaurant, wait time was about 10 minutes, the pain was great, you got a big bowl and I can’t even finish it?, the service was really nice, if you come out from Hawaii volcano national park, this is your best place to go.Highly recommended ?“
“The pho was pretty good, but did lack taste. Also, the menu is very limited, with only beef or chicken pho to choose from. There is no vegetarian option. It is a small, quaint little restaurant and I do recommend a visit.Vegetarian options: There are no vegetarian options.“
“This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Hilo!! Lams has an amazing menu and the vegetarian pho is phenomenal! The tofu egg rolls are also amazing, and try their homemade peanut sauce! I would choose to go to lams over every other restaurant, I have been going here for almost 5 years and the service is always wonderful!“
“I went one afternoon with my family. This is a great little spot to check out! Really enjoyed the food! The Pad Thai was a wonderful balance of tomato-y and peanut-y. The service was good, if a little slow. It's a neat spot right across the street from the “
“I was tempted to try the spicy version of the beef stew pho (available - you just have to ask for it.) But, I let my better senses prevail and went with the regular, not spicy. Excellent taste. Huge! Will try the spicy version next time. Definitely recommended.“

“When traveling in the United States, apart from the magnificent scenery, the most surprising thing must be the food. What I'm talking about here is not surprisingly bad, but surprisingly good. In Hilo, there is a Vietnamese pho shop called Pho 99. Although its storefront is simple, it is not far from the seaside and is easy to find. As I walked past the door, I couldn’t help but think of Anthony Burton sitting on the streets of Vietnam with a noodle bowl in hand. The shop owner is a middle-aged man who behaves like a master from a Stephen Chow Kung Fu movie. We ordered a beef pho in clear soup and a bowl of Beef Stew. No fancy decorations, no excessive showmanship, everything is just right. Asian stomachs are full of emotions about the taste of food. Just by smelling and tasting it, you can feel whether it has the same flavor as the food. In contrast, those gorgeous meals, no matter how attractive they appear and how harmless they appear, can only be a fantasy, a symbol and catharsis suppressed in people's unconscious daydreams. Thanks Pho 99??? May the Force Be With You ??“
