“Friendly employees and tasty Kula shaved ice. What they have (coffee and shaved ice) is good, but I wouldn't call it enough to qualify as a "general store".
Minus 1 star because they charge 3.5% extra for credit card usage.”

“Very friendly staff, they said any item in the menu can be done as vegetarian. We had Tacos de papa (potato tacos). The lady gave us their signature habanero salsa. All together the food was awesome. The lady at the counter was very kind has gave many pointers for vegetarian food in Hilo. Highly recommend this place. Parking was easy and you can also eat outside in the patio.”

“This cute little shack is a Hawaiian classic near akaka falls. Nice menu with shakes, smoothies, wraps etc all using fresh local ingredients, many from their own farm. There's a small selection of clothing and hats and several picnic tables to enjoy your meal don't forget to look behind the shack for a couple more private picnic tables on the grass”
“We stopped here on our way back to Hilo from Akaka Falls. Without overstating any claims, this was an AMAZING experience. I love pineapple in kind of a strange way, but I’ve never had anything more than the Dole junk I can buy from my supermarket in Pittsburgh. This was the opposite! The pineapple was grown on the farm where we were standing. In a word, it was SPECTACULAR. Similar feels for the coconut and sugar cane.
Bonus points for the farm dog hanging out chewing on everybody’s leftover coconut meat!
This IS Hawaii. This is America.”
“This little market is one not to miss if you want a taste of the Hāmakua life. Bring cash!! thereʻs no internet there to process payments, (but there is an ebt table where folks can get coins to spend from the card balance - make those gov $$ go hyper local!). Family friendly, all vendors sell local produce and products, no costco flippers allowed! Music, craft activites, art, games and local foods, including lots of amazing gf vegan options.”

“It will be wonderful with some local draft beers. This is the only restaurant opens for travelers until very late. Dictatorship of Astronomy has a limited power here.”

“Drinks and everything we got were soo delicious!! Husband got the chinese fish which is the snapper as of right now and I got the pan seared duck. Also got the soup of the day which is the potato soup and got a sushi roll. Will definitely be back here if we ever come back to The Big Island!”
“I got the pumpkin cookies ,sugar cookies, banana bread and monkey bread and let me tell ya. U won’t bake anymore. And prices are very good. Very very satisfied 👍”
“We spent 3 nights at this resort during our recent Hawaii vacation. The resort is older, which we knew going in, but the staff we met were so friendly! Housekeeping did a great job each day and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the coffee, hot chocolate, juice, and warm cookies in the lobby. We also had dinner downstairs, and it was a great meal! We did valet our rental Jeep, and I'm so glad we did! The guys were wonderful, and we loved it was a covered area to get in and out of the Jeep from. All in all, we had a great experience!! We really loved the location and how easy it was to explore around the Hilo side of the island! If we return back to Hilo, we would for sure book here again! Thank you for a wonderful experience!”
