“Clean tables, friendly staff, roomy and THE BEST WAFFLE WE EVER HAD!!!! Gotta do the CHANTILLY WAFFLE ! We loved the Big Island Grill so much, we went three times for breakfast during our vacay. Hubby LOVED the Loco Moco. I wish this restaurant existed in our town 💕 and seriously the chantilly waffle deserves an award ⭐️”
“Fresh, flavorful, and full of aloha!
Pau Hana Poke is hands-down one of the best poke spots I’ve visited in Hawaii. The fish is incredibly fresh, and the variety of poke styles. I loved the option to mix and match sides.
The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the whole experience feels authentically local. It’s a small shop with limited outside seating, so it’s perfect for takeout. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. If you’re in Kona and craving poke, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be back!”
“Won’t Disappoint!!!
We started our trip here—and made sure to end it here too. The Holiday Burger was an incredible surprise, packed with amazing flavors. The Ultimate Cheeseburger was pure perfection: unbelievably juicy and absolutely delicious.
If you’re traveling to Kona, this spot is a must-visit. It may be tucked away in a strip mall, but don’t let that fool you—it’s 100% worth it. Hands down, the best burger I’ve ever had!
Thank you for the fantastic food and excellent service. 🌟”
“This was the culinary highlight of our trip to the big island! Sam and Jennifer are super kind in explaining the business-all local ingredients! Premium ingredients (local chocolate, Kona hinted brownies-Mac nut base ice cream)-wowza! Serious stuff! Come support this incredible shop. Yum!”
“Outstanding service and food. I appreciate the staggered reservations for the one-on-one service and recommendations! The food was amazing and I wish I could try the whole menu! Dessert was definitely the best part- the lilikoi mousse- phenom!”
“I come here often to grab a quick post workout snack. It’s very convenient because it’s on the way home & parking is easy and free. I’ve tried their bulgogi, spam & egg, and tuna Kimbap — so filling and delicious. I appreciate that it’s a thin layer of rice and lots of actual ingredients. I had their bulgogi protein bowl + added sunny side up egg with a side of Korean mashed potatoes. Absolutely lovely and flavorful. I’ve also had their Korean shave ice. I’m not into super sweet desserts, so I had the sesame one and I really enjoyed it. Totally worth trying this place out!”

“Love going here. I like their beer and the atmosphere. Staff is friendly and service is generally quick. I dont have much to complain about here and go back frequently. My only gripe was the wings. Although I thought they tasted fine, they were over sauced and had no crunch. For me its a texture thing. I like at least a little crunch to wings and they didnt have it. Pep rolls are dialed in, must try. I do like this place and will definitely be coming back.”
“We had a catfish basket and a shrimp boil. Both were very good with a lot of food. One of the better meals we had while traveling. It was not busy, very clean
Server was very pleasant and kept drinks filled and made sure we had everything for our meal.
Catfish basket came with fries. Shrimp boil had 1 small potato and 1 small ear of corn. We had 2 drinks and order of cheesesticks. Bill was about $60
Would definitely go back”
“The best salad I’ve had to date. The server cut the lettuce right off the plant at the table. It doesn’t get much fresher than that. Great experience and the view overlooking the golf course while eating during sunset was spectacular. Do yourself and the love of your life a favor and book it.”
“Food 4/5 - Ordered mochiko chicken plate and beef chow fun. Chow fun noodles were al dente, as it could’ve been a little more softer. Beef pieces are thinly sliced, but are portioned generously. It has the “wok-hei”, but could use some more soy sauce. Mochiko chicken was nicely fried, as the chicken wasn’t dry. Mac salad was good too.
Service 3/5 - Service is normal for a take-out style restaurant.
Ambiance 3/5 - This is focused more as a take-out style restaurant, so there are only a couple tables inside. Tables are tidy and condiments are kept clean.
Overall - Had a pleasant experience and would visit again.”
“We had an absolutely amazing evening at Resident’s Beach House. From start to finish, every detail exceeded our expectations.
Despite requesting a reservation just an hour ahead, the host was warm, accommodating, and welcoming. We were seated right by the beach just as the sun was setting - the view alone was magical - and the atmosphere felt relaxed, intimate, and beautifully Hawaiian.
Our server, Bella, made the evening truly special. She was not only professional and incredibly kind, but also deeply knowledgeable. She easily guided us through the menu, pointing out which vegetarian dishes could be made vegan and how their mixed drinks could be served alcohol-free - all with a genuine smile.
The food was exceptional - fresh, flavorful, and artfully presented. Every course was a delight.
And to top it off, when Bella noticed us taking selfies, she kindly sent Gabriel over to take a proper group photo. He knew how to adjust the settings and use flash on our phone for perfect shots; something we genuinely appreciated.
The entire staff radiated warmth and care, making this one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Hawaiʻi.
Highly recommended; we’ll be talking about this evening for a long time!”
“We ate here after 12 hours of traveling and could not have been happier. The service was so friendly and outdoor seating with tiki torches and a view of the water was great. My son isn’t always the most adventurous eater but he asked to try the clams from my seafood stew and pronounced that he “loves clams more than pizza”. It was his first time trying it. He had the kid’s grilled cheese with fries, and myself and my friend had the Crabby Patties crab cakes, cocktails, fish n chips and seafood stew. Everuthing came out quickly, hot and fresh. It was just what we needed after airport food all day.”
“Our server Angel was amazing! Super friendly, prompt and engaging!”

“WOW! These are the best donuts I have ever had. We came here with our young family of 6 and started out with 6 donuts and ended up licking the box clean and got another 6. They are perfected, delicious but not too sweet so you can eat and eat! also they are not your regular donut so ask about the flavors!!”
“🌺🤙🏽 Huge shout-out to Kohola Coffee 🐋 🙌
Every time I stop by, I leave feeling so much aloha. This coffee truck is a true gem in our community, with reasonable prices and the freshest local ingredients.
What makes it extra special isn’t just the amazing coffee, it’s the heart behind it. Jeannette built this business from the ground up, and you can feel her passion and hard work in every detail. It’s rare to find a spot that serves incredible drinks and creates such a genuine sense of community, but she’s nailed it.
Even if you’re not a coffee person, there are plenty of other delicious drinks (the matcha is my favorite) and the food always hits the spot. The convenience of the drive-through also makes it so easy to swing by and grab something tasty on the go.
Highly recommend stopping in, it’s the best coffee shop in Kona. Plus supporting a self-made local entrepreneur who pours her heart into everything she does is the best bonus! 🌴✨”

“I personally love The Fishhopper. I believe they are the best restaurant in Kona. I adore the staff. The bartenders are top tier! My favorite dish is The Monchong Risotto.. it’s such a treat. Don’t hesitate to go and check them out. Have a drink for meee:)”

“This is my favorite place for Hawaiian food hands down. Fresh is in the name and that’s what you get. The best laulau, pretty much everything I have tried on the menu is da bomb. But don’t get me started on the chicken long rice! Nowhere else comes close! I dream about it. If you know what’s up then you know Hawaii Fresh Specialties is the spot for plate lunch in Kailua Kona.”
“Fireart Cuisine has some of the best Asian food we have ever had! We are on a short visit to Hawaii, but we’ve already been there twice - the food is so good we had to come back! Both the beef and broccoli and the shrimp and broccoli have delicious flavor with perfectly cooked broccoli. The braised green beans and chicken (mild) was also delicious. And for desert, this was our first time ever trying fried ice-cream - delicious and so much fun! Staff are super kind and on the ball. Everyone seems to want to put out the best - for those who love great food, this little spot is an awesome find!”
“We came here in 2019 and really wanted to go back for pad thai and fried rice that we loved. So now in 2025, we couldn't remember the name.. looked up some restaurant in the area, guessed this is the place, and we were spot on! 😅
Loved it as mucb as the first time!! Love the food and atmosphere!!
Pad thai is sooo goood here! Highly recommend 👌”
“Great night celebrating my Dads visit to Kona. Da Bomb fries and Kona fish tacos were delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, Widdy Loo - entertained- the beautiful Kona sunset was spectacular! Thanks for a wonderful evening!”

“The beer was cold. The food was hot. The bar tender was friendly. Hamburger was tasty, the ahi and shrimp bites were seasoned nicely. All was good. The other patrons were friendly too. The only negative was that someone threw up close by, and the smell waffted into the restaurant.”
“High quality, authetic sushi and worth going out of your way for on Big Island. Each piece of fish was beautifully cut and well seasoned. I highly recommend the nigiri set for sushi lovers. The place gets busy quick, so either call ahead to make a reservation, or arrive right as they open. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so I can see it getting loud later in the night when it's full. 10/10– I'd definitely come back again here again!”
“Best Tiki Bar in Kona. By a mile. Try the pork belly. And their Trader Vic’s Mai Tai is the bomb. And their staff is the best. Just sayin’.”
“I went to the Hilo location with my mother last night and was treated in a very racist and disgusting manner by the FOH staff. There were many empty tables yet the host avoided talking to us for a half hour. Then when I asked one of the waiters if we can sit at one of the open tables he said, "He cant let us do that" Then when I finally was able to talk to the host. He said it would be a 40 min wait for food. Ok I get it, the kitchen is swamped. So I say can we just sit right there pointing at the table he just cleaned. He says "no". Keep in mind there were at least four more empty tables. So we decided to leave. On the way out the thought comes into my mind, that he is going to seat the people who walked in behind us. So I tell my mother to wait a second and I go back in to look and there goes the host immediately seating these people bringing them water and menus. So I head back in and ask him "Whats going on here? Can I talk to a manager?" He tells me there are no managers. Then the waiter at the bar who said he couldnt do anything to let us sit down, says "I am the manager" So they lied to my face. Then I go to the bartender she barely bothers to tall to me and says "we are all managers" and that then tries to defend this discriminatory behavior by saying they are not being prejudiced against us. Yet the people behind us are chilling and going over their menus. and here we are not able to even talk to a manager never the less receive service at this racist establishment. We were systemically blocked from sitting. Then some manager esque fellow comes out trying to do damage control after all of this ongoing nonsense. To little to late. Im not going to eat spit burger with some bigot lougies in it. Mind you both my 76 year old mother have hosted various business meet ups there over the yeara bringing them business supporting Ola Brew and they treat us like this. Do not support businesses like this in Hilo. black people of Hilo be aware. This place will treat you second class. Over priced too, for the worst kind of service. dont do it, dont eat there.”

“Food was to die for! The Bulleh Fries are perfectly crispy and soft with the best umami flavor!
Best Poke we have had on the Island.
The service was great too and we were sat immediately after our table was ready. Will definitely visit again. 10/10”

“We were very impressed with the quality of these coffee beans. I wanted to bring home to Michigan authentic Kona Coffee. I paid a high price, however, it was worth it! This coffee is freshly grown in Kailua-Kona. The Peaberry Med Roast is a smooth cup of coffee! We loved it!”
“I recently stopped in to get lunch and they started serving the kalua pork again (My Favorite) this bowl with all the yummy veggies plus the brown rice, extra sweet potato, edamame and miso good dressing was the BOMB! The service here is outstanding, super friendly and nice staff. Definitely recommend stopping here for a healthy and great lunch!”
“My wife and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary on the Big Island and wanted to experience the best the island had to offer. Ulu Ocean Grille did not disappoint! Here is a summary of our dinner: We thoroughly enjoyed the Ebi Tempura roll - (it was good enough that we have encouraged several family members to join us at Ulu this evening for sushi and dinner) For our entrées we had the Mahi Mahi and the Spicy Crab Noodles. Both were perfectly prepared, very flavorful, and the presentation was perfect. For dessert, we couldn't decide between the chocolate or vanilla (the flavor of the evening) soufflé, so we got one of each (you only celebrate 20 years once!). Again, perfectly prepared and presented and was thoroughly enjoyed. And I can't overstate how excellent the service was. The staff went out of their way to make the experience memorable. It was the best dining experience I have ever had and I don't expect to top it soon, unless they outdo themselves when we return this evening. Ulu & Four Seasons Resort - well done!”
“I ate there twice in March, and twice in April, not brisk service, Hawaiian leisure!, but incredible food! The coconut shrimp, with either sauce (although I loved the sweet chili), both panko and beer battered fish and chips were delicious, and I never expected to find THE tastiest BLT sandwich I have ever eaten!”

“Island Breeze is a buffet dinner + music, dance and activity show. All performances were related to the Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. All good to great. Fire eater was the highlight. Food was good but more suited to International non vegetarian audience, not an Indian vegetarian like me.”
“A local friend tipped me off to this spot, and it ended up being the highlight of my time on the Big Island. Sitting at Talk Story with a drink in hand at sunset is an absolute must if you’re anywhere nearby. Eric, the bartender, made one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had and was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. After having a drink here, be sure to visit shipwreck bar for some sushi followed by a beach walk. This is the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer.”
“It was delicious and great service!”
