“Ok - listen up. Shave ice is a heavenly experience. Thats understood. The differentiation with Hee Fat is the homemade syrups made right there. This place is so incredibly good that we went 5 times while we were in Kauai. Might I suggest some merch? I’d love to rock a Hee Fat shave ice shirt back on the mainland. You’ll be glad you stopped in for a lava flow and know your day will be better. Chefs kiss!“

“A must stop every visit. Great combo plates. Everything is good here, but I usually get their adobo, beef stew, or fried chicken in a combo plate that comes with rice and a choice of poke. At the register if you are lucky grab a couple musubi. They sell fast! ?“

“Absolutely MUST go restaurant! The food was fantastic - tastes just like authentic food from India. The owner and servers were incredibly nice and service was top-notch. We were so happy with our dinner here, some of our party said it was the highlight of the trip to Kauai. They were so accommodating to our Jain diet (no onion, no garlic, etc.) and we felt right at home. Hope to come again soon :)“

“Smiley's was our first meal on our trip to Kauai, and what a perfect place to start! We ordered the katsu chicken, beef kalbi, and garlic butter shrimp. Everything was SO delicious. Honestly, some of the best shrimp I've ever had (FYI shrimp is peel 'n eat). We also LOVED the mac salad, and think it was the best we had on the island. Order extra when you go! I wish we would have been able to return during our trip! Service was so friendly, and the woman running the front counter (the owner's daughter; sorry! I didn't get her name) suggested where we could go to enjoy our food.“

“Wow. Just wow. The Taro French Toast was amazing and one of a kind. HUGE THICK slices of sweet purple taro toast. It has been the best French Toast I've had on Kauai. I should have come here sooner. The omlet was delcious and generously portioned as well. Great prices, great portions. The food came out so fast and cooked perfectly. I went back twice. It was consistently great!

Parking: It's located on site, parking is open and unmarked.

Wheelchair accessibility: It's a good truck outside. Anyone can access it from the parking lot. there are no tables.“

Ended up going here a couple times. Conveniently located near our hotel and airport in Lihue. You don’t go here for atmosphere, in fact all of my favorite poke spots are in places like these or delis.“

“Staying at the Royal Sonesta and relaxing on Kalapaki beach, Kukui's is convenient and their gourmet burgers have a rich and decadent flavor, spot on! Drinks are refreshing! We like the blended strawberry daiquiris and pina coladas (virgin) especially.
Use the free parking on the southside of the Sonesta, with a 1-minute walk to the beach!“
