“Amazing place. We made reservations for our last night on the island as we were here for our honeymoon. They knew it was our honeymoon so gave us a special private table with exceptional views of the fish pond, the grounds and just the right amount of breeze. Service was amazing, food was incredible all for a reasonable price. Honestly, if we knew it would be a trio winner with excellent service, excellent food, excellent atmosphere for what we thought was a reasonable cost we would have eaten here more. The crab cakes were fabulous, Hawaiian plate fantastic and the husband loved the swordfish. For sure need advance reservations but well worth the planning! Wander the grounds before/after and take in the beauty.“
“I didn’t actually have the poke but probably should have. Their mixed plate was kind of mid, but my friend’s poke looked amazing. It’s in a bit of a strange location, being in the middle of a golf course, but it was speedy — not worth $21 though I will say.“
“A local recommended this place to us and we're so glad we tried it out. Everything was so fresh and delicious! The inside isn't open so you have to order outside at a window but we didn't have to wait long. Everything is to go. Parking lot is on the side of the building it's small but we managed to find a spot.“
“Merrimans is one of the best restaurants on the island, along with 1849 next door. It is really comfortable and mellow if they are not too busy, with live music some nights. Watch the sunset from your table. The crab cakes or the soup of the day are good starters. Tomato bisque and the ube soup with coconut cream were both delicious. Some of the dishes like the caesar salad and the Ma Kai ($52), which is the chef's weekly choice preparation of mixed seafoods, miss the mark. I do recomend the macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi ($49). All the top restaurants on Kaua'i do a version of this dish, Merrimans' signature version is my favorite. The lilikoi (passion fruit) mousse is the perfect, light dessert.“
“The environment is really cute inside, also if you come early you can walk around. There’s small shops and it’s well lit up.RESERVE IN ADVANCE.Steal 10/10Tuna 5/10, I love raw fish but for some reason it did not taste good for me, get the steak.Upside Down Pineapple 6/10, more scoops of ice cream would be ideal, the bread is dry. Get the first item on the dessert menu.It got a 4/5 because the steak was good, drinks were great, service great, and environment great!“
“Honestly? Pleasantly surprised for being part of a resort.Of course you get resort prices but what I didn’t expect was such a fun and friendly staff. I didn’t expect some of the menu items to be as good as they are either! It’s only exacerbated by the fact that there’s poolside service as well. Good for lazy days after adventuring or hanging out with local buddies. There’s honestly so much good food in Kauai that relaxation and easy access is the game here BUT it’s not a compromise, it’s still good. Also thanks for being so hilarious to me and my local buddy when we were drunk, you guys are hilarious and a good time! ??“
“We were on our honeymoon and I poorly planned our intentions to visit a Luau so when I called to book they told us we weren't able to join due to the luau being fully booked and a huge waitlist so I sadly hung up. Bummed that I wasn't able to go I was walking with my wife as I noticed I missed a call and when I listened to the voicemail it was (sorry for the misspell here) Poi'hai from Auli leaving a message in hopes that she dialed the right number to inform us that there was a cancellation in the Premier Section and that she would be reserving the spots for us for 30 minutes to honor us since we were on our honeymoon. Once we arrived we were blown away by the atmosphere of the luau! The food was great, the dancers were INCREDIBLE, and the atmosphere was so fun. Next time I come to Kauai I'll be sure to book ahead of time because the moments me and my wife shared on this luau were unforgettable. Thank you again for such an amazing time!“
“I've been looking forward to trying Puka Dog for months! Now having tried it, I'm definitely satisfied! I had the spicy garlic sauce, mango relish and Hawaiian mustard. The combo was delicious! Because the bun's hole doesn't go all the way through, the sauce pools up at the bottom and my sausage was finished with quite a bit of bread left. The final few bites were way too saucy and wet for me to finish, which was my only complaint. I wish there wasn't so much sauce at the bottom. But the roosters surrounding my picnic table were happy to finish the bread for me.The lineup was quite short; only about 5 minutes. The food came out right away too!“
“My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Table on a recent Wednesday night, and Jenny was our server! She was so nice, knowledgeable, and accommodating. My wife had the pork chop which she loved, and I started with French onion soup (very good with a very rich taste) and then the baked fish which was fabulous. My only complaint was that the rice that came with the fish was only luke warm at best. The sauce on the plate was fabulous! Great restaurant and Jenny was fabulous, be sure to ask for her!“
“We have been going to Keoki's ever since we first discovered it the first time we visited Kauai in 1999.While the menu has changed, the quality of the food and service has always been top notch. The one thing you should try though that has been constant each time we have visited Keoki's on our many return visits to the island is the Hula Pie. It is a taste of paradise.“
“Went there during down time, and oh goodness! I haven't had such good laulau and Kalua pork. The cilantro poke was equally delicious. They were out of musubi and substituted delicious poke for us. They treated us really well with the substitution. I would definitely go again.“
“Service and atmosphere are great. Quickly seated, and staff were friendly. I bought the mahi tacos which I thought were okay. Everything looked good overall though. Great view of the sunset and surfers.Parking: Parked near Brennecks/Puka Dog restaurants in the adjacent lots. Not too sure how else we'd get to Honu Bar, but we were already lounging on the beach by the turtles so we decided to just walk over. The walk back to the car was a little more challenging given how dark it was, but no issues overall.“
“Best shave ice on the island. We went back 4-5x the week we were in Poipu. We tried a few other places and this was so much better. This is the closest thing we’ve had to Matsumoto’s on Oahu which is equally as good. Get the Island Nectar or POG with macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom, SO GOOD. Jason was our server and he was AWEOME! Super nice guy and went above and beyond. Good shave ice and great service.“
“Service and food were consistently good. We had breakfast everyday and all selections were consistently great. Prices are typical for hotel onsite dining.Vegetarian options: There was an adequate selection of vegetarian meals.Dietary restrictions: Upon checking in at the hostess podium, they ask if you have dietary restrictions.Parking: Valet parking only.Kid-friendliness: This is not a restaurant geared for kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for wheelchair.“
“Great food and service! So good, in fact, we ate here twice while on the island. Restaurant was clean and comfortable. Prices were very reasonable. Portions were generous enough to share, and still be filling. We even had the opportunity to chit chat with Justin, the owner. Love supporting small businesses like this one.“
