Service is impressively quick, and the portion sizes are generous—ordering just one roll can be a lot for one person. If you’re with friends, I highly recommend sharing a few different rolls to get the full experience.

The staff (or possibly the owner) was incredibly kind and helpful. He let me know the fresh ahi was sold out for the day, but offered great suggestions for other rolls to try. Prices are fair, especially considering the portion sizes and Hawaii’s cost of living.

We got an assortment of their hand rolls and also nigiri and it was hands down the best sushi we’ve ever had as well as the best meal we’ve had on the island! “We found this place on another online platform after going to the Dole Plantation. It is located in a strip mall that looks old and run down so we were skeptical. We located the restaurant in the corner of the lot (next to the Goodwill). We sent a scout in take a look prior lol. The scout gave us the all clear so we entered the restaurant, which was clean and had open tables. We were greeted by a nice man who took the time to get to know us and give us some island history. Ok to the food: There were 4 of us. Each ordered a different entree. 1. Spam hand roll and a tempura hand roll - deliciousness 2. Energy roll- this tasted very fresh and was a roll with eel and avocado on top with eel sauce- deliciousness 3. Ahi poke bento box- came out looking just like the picture on the menu( how many times does that happen!) lots of fresh fish and rolls- deliciousness 4. Tempura shrimp bowl with spicy sauce on top. Tempura shrimp Packed in a bowl on a bed of rice. - deliciousness 5. Spicy ahi poke bowl- came out with tons of fresh ahi covered in spicy mayo and sriracha sauce. - delicious if you like spicy fresh fish. This mom and pop shop deserves your business. The food (all of it) tasted fresh and made with care. I would not write it if it wasn’t true. They will serve you a complimentary miso soup to start ( no spoons here, sip out of cup!) “This is our 4th or fifth visit. Probably our top favorite Omakase sushi in Honolulu. Reservation is a must. Usually 2 months wait for the counter seats.Excellent quality of fish. I don’t even like raw fish taste but I enjoy it when it’s fresh.Wife and husband restaurant. Attentive service. Counter seats 9 people. There’s a couple of table seats as well. “You do need to go there early in the AM. They do run out before closing. Sometimes if you know what you want it is best to order ahead of time. My husband loves the chicken and oshi sushi. “Vegan Options! We got the vegan inari in a burrito. They had 3 sauces that were vegan - an onion dressing, green sriracha and a white tabasco. They said the green sriracha and white tabasco were spicy, but I didn't feel that way. The white tabasco was delicious.

Quality sushi! It's in a casual setting, but the quality and taste are not casual. There were many things I wanna try but finally decided on doing the chirashi bento.

Delicious and fatty fish! One thing you can tell if this place has good fish or not is by trying their red tuna. Quality places would give you a nice cut that's bright red with subtle mild fish flavor. Budget places will give you tuna that has a lot of ligaments and almost no fish flavor. Their red tuna was good, along with the ika (squid), negitoro (minced tuna), some fatty white fish, hamachi, crab meat (with light mayo), salmon and shrimp (although I wish it was amaebi instead). Their rice was also yummy with good seasoning and al dente texture.

Prices were not cheap but not ridiculous. I paid $24 for my bento, wish there's just a little more seafood. They have other options that are more affordable.

I went during week after 12:30pm and there was no line. I just walked up to the kiosk to browse what they had and placed my order. The card machine on the left of the screen also takes tap payment. There's also plenty of indoor and nice outdoor seating.

“I wonder why they serve human food but have the name “fish food”? hm, the world may never know. anywho, i had the spicy ahi bowl (?) that came with rice, some fish, and 2 pieces of gyoza with sauce. the fish was good and had the spiciness of a 3.5 on the caucasian scale of spicy; has a little kick but won’t make you cry out for jésus or anything. the convenience of having poke on base was amazing but the portion size was not! $15 or so for a small bento sized meal is a little pricey as poke bowls at foodland are about $5 cheaper and they give you more fish and rice as well.For the size of fish food hawaiis spicy ahi, i have attached a pic to show the size with an ice breakers ice cube gum for a scale (didn’t have banana for scale)“

“Found this small restaurant as I walked around the area. Prices have increased from the menu I saw posted on here. Most are three dollars higher. There is a small seating area and I suppose you can eat there but this seems more like an order and go type of place. Food is decent. I found the portions to be spot on. I couldn’t finish my bento box and I took a bite of the poke bowl my wife ordered. Both were good. Fresh stuff. I’d recommend for sure.“

“I had the unexpected pleasure of enjoying drinks and snacks at Obake. We were early for reservations at Skull and Crown. The hostess recommended Obake, which is their sister bar and restaurant, just around the corner. We were seated at the counter across from chef Christian and watched him craft all the handrolls served during our visit. First, the drinks: we had the Momiji, the Will o' the Whisp, the Fallen Angel, and the Feels like Summer. This isn't your everyday bar. The cocktails took some time to craft, but they did not disappoint . The Momiji was their nod to fall, while the Feels like Summer, well, you get it. While each drink was light and enjoyable, my favorite was the FLS. A nod to the Old Fashioned, but light and bright.

The house pickles and Yukari Fries were perfect sharing plates. We also tried the Hamachi, Summer Toro, Ho Hayn, and Bangsilog rolls. The Summer Toro had strawberries in it that paired beautifully with the spicy Toro. The Ho Hayn was served with a small dish of Hawaiian chili pepper water, either dipped in the water or followed by a chaser sip of the water. The Ho Hayn left me wanting more. The Bangsilog was probably my favorite just because it brought me back to breakfast in my Filipino mother's kitchen. It was all the flavors of my childhood in one roll.

Our server, whose name slips my memory, was a delight. She was attentive and explained the concepts behind the drinks she brought us.

Christian was a joy to watch and a joy to speak with.

“we came from town all the way here for the first time and decided to eat here as they had no wait, it was a great decision in the end because the food was 10/10. it’s a super small family owned place, only one serve and (i believe) the owner going around helping customers. service was great and the chefs handed the rolls directly to us at our table once they were prepared! super happy with our experience.“
