“On the evening of July 5 my wife and I tried Avaspi on Belmont Avenue in Lakeview for the first time. It will not be the last! I love lamb and am quite particular as to how is it prepared. The “lamb delight” menu item was the best lamb I have ever had in a restaurant: tender, succulent, and prepared to perfection. The side salad accompanying it was not your ordinary side salad! My wife and I both enjoyed the Mixed Meze appetizer plate. Each of the five items was quite good but the muhammara was to die for. We ended our meal with tea, baklava and kubralice. The décor and ambience were refreshing and relaxing, and the service was outstanding. The pricing was very reasonable. Please give it a try. We do not think you will be disappointed.“

Miriam, our server was so knowledgeable about the menu and so accommodating — multiple things were sent to us on the house and after we tried the Arak “milk of lions” and didn’t like it due to its strong liquors taste she was quick to taking it off of our bill and was very receptive of the feedback. You have to try the labneh spreads and beetroot mutabbal too! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who is Suda‘s daughter and came to find out that every recipe on the menu is her mom‘s very own. You can taste the love in every bite. The only constructive feedback I have is I wish I came here sooner. 11/10 RECOMMEND SUDA’S!“

I love that when I go there they have everything fresh and everything is in stock and if there’s a waiting time, it’s not more than 10 minutes and the cookies are amazing for dessert. I love that the food is gluten-free even the cookie!

The kabob combo (chicken, beef & Kafka) was a major hit and the falafel is great. Portions are generous and although prices are not low, they’re really fair given the quality and the quantity of the dishes. Very clean restaurant, very friendly guys who are happy to accommodate special requests. Why we waited so long to order from this restaurant is a mystery. We’ve now been twice in less than a week.

“The food was good, I got a steak torta combo with fries and coke and my husband got tacos. I also asked for the fried ice cream but it’s not really fried. It’s ice cream on a waffle cone. I called to pick up the order and they said 10 minutes but when my husband picked up he noticed that’s when they stared making the food so he did have to wait a bit.“

On a recent visit, they noticed my 2 year old devoured his hake and my own, and brought out an "extra" they had accidentally cooked. They also gave our kiddos cookies. It's right across from the newly-redone Oz park, so it makes a fun evening of playing on the playground followed by dinner (and its BYOB). I'm surprised it's not packed all the time, but I do appreciate we can always get a table, or even the cute little table out front. “They make the absolute, hands down, best meatball grinder I've ever had. Everything about it is otherworldly.
The meatballs are well flavored and have the ideal texture and consistency one could ask of a meatball. There's an herby, garlicky flavor which is very noticeable without being overwhelming.
The sauce is just a little sweet, just enough to contrast with the meat. There was mozzarella and it seemed like a little bit of ricotta too, but not too much to make it gloopy.
The bread was perfect, really more of a hard, crusty, fresh baked roll. It provided a crunchy contrast while standing up to the healthy heaping of ball and sauce and cheese.
It was the best sandwich I've had all year and the best meatball sandwich I've ever had.“

“The food here was incredible but unfortunately our service was slow when the restaurant was not all that full. We found ourselves waiting a considerable amount of time at some points.

That being said the food was excellent and everything we tried was delicious. Our favorite was the cheese curds. So light yet so crunchy at the same time. The bread with ricotta and honey was also excellent.

For entrees I thought my chicken sandwich was really good and my partner enjoyed her burger. The drinks were also good and the atmosphere was excellent for date night. We will come back as maybe the service thing was a fluke but it did impact an otherwise perfect experience.“
